    My heart went out to Nadal in the final. I think he played awesomely this week and given that he had a couple of very long matches and played every day - that in itself is a huge step forward from where he was a few months ago. Such a humble person. Nadal is very unforgiving on himself & will never make excuses for what he considers playing under par. To be fair - Borges fought a good fight for the win and Congratulations’ to him for that. I think we will see much more from him in the future. As for Rafa - he knows what he needs to do better and we all know that he will work hard to remedy that. Regardless of wins or losses - he is and always will be an absolute Legend of the sport. ❤

    Rafa, the question is: have you stopped learning as a player, given your current circumstances??? you know, with a clarity beyond clear, that you cannot play a four-hour match and then hope to be as alert and energized in the next match. the goal therefore must be to keep points short and fast. and that means perhaps learning to anticipate and execute quick points at the net whenever the opportunity presents itself. you can no longer play the exact same game on clay when you were 19 years old. you are almost 20 years older. so, have you stopped learning? because if you have and insist on playing the same game over and over again, then you clearly have not understood that the game has moved on. the score would have been 6-0 6-0 with Alcaraz or Sinner; Borges is a reasonably good player, but he really is not in the uppermost levels of the game. and you lost to him because, in the previous match, you decided to play the same game. you have stopped learning. and therefore must seriously think about retiring.

  • @shadowagent6051
    @shadowagent6051 4 месяца назад

    He really need to fix his serve,he needs something different on that aspect of his game,that's the solution he needs,in his early 20's he didn't have to worry about his serve because of his defence and speed,but now his body can't handle anymore,38 years of age if you can't serve well to shorter the points it's over,Federer had to play aggressive changing tactics sharping his serve shorting the points to play at high level in his late 30's that was the key,Nadal and his team were always stubborn about changing ever since uncle Toni.

      And on top of that he's not serving well,he suffers because he depends too much of his 38 years old body,he can't handle long rallies anymore,he needs to shorter the points sharping his serve,otherwise it's over,he will only go so far because he will always fight with energy against him,either himself or young players.

    Very encouraging to hear him say his practices were much better than his match play. That means he's capable of more than we saw in Bastad - and that we can hope for more from him IF he can stay healthy and for as long as he wants to play. People who think that his relatively lackluster play this week tells us all we need to know about his prospects are not appreciating what it means to come off two years of injury recovery and negligible match play. If Rafa chooses to play on, and if his body holds up, even at 38 he might yet have some magical moments to deliver.
