      Weight lifting is not remotely comparable. A good fitness program will include both as they are both critical.

    I've been having lower back pain for few years now, muscle soreness type of pain, bilateral, at all times, non stop. Some days it's worse than the others. I tried all kind of stretching, and spent about three month in PT with UM health. No changes, what so ever. In fact, it was just recently determined that it was my QL that is hurting, nobody had a clue. But I'm not going to go into that right now. My condition worsened recently. Now after warming up the muscles, it becomes very sensitive and will spasm/twitch, even without touching it (it gets way worse if I were to massage it, applying more pressure.) I have a strong back and in shape, over all. Don't have a sitting job or where I have to lift anything heavy, and haven't had any recent accidents or injuries. Twisting and turning is when I feel it the most. It's very strange, and I can't find anything online in regards to my condition. I don't know what else to do at this point. Tired of this never ending pain. X-ray doesn't show anything wrong.

      u might have weak glute max and psoas. If psoas is off external obliques are off as well which put lots of stress on ql. If ur glute max doesnt fire properly, the hamstrings will be primary hip extensors which should not - and that also gonna give u lots of pain. I would suggest u strenghten glute max and psoas and see how that feels. For psoas - knee raise above 90 degree, for glute - kne lift with leg bent to take off the hamstrings from work. You might also strenghten external obliques by leg raises without lower back arch. Dont bother about glute bridges it's useless exercise if u want to correct the right fire timing, and glute max strenght.

      @@szyszak9424 Thank you, I really appreciate the response. That sounds pretty accurate. I’m going to try those exercises, and look into strengthening those muscles you’ve mentioned. I’ve also noticed previously that if I were to do some air squats or lunges, I’m actually feeling a relief and have no issues performing them (surprisingly.)
