Isles of Sea and Sky | Part 12: Basically, A Maze
the puzzle at 29:33 is possible with your current abilities, you have a bit 3 high area you can move around freely and you only need to move the shadow down 2 tiles at a tile before you can get him stuck in the up direction. The solution there is to activate him, move down to the main central area to the bottom edge, move up twice thne move sideways until the shadow is stuck below a wall, then move down to the bottom edge, then move sideways to the opening going down, repeat until he's at the bottom, then move him across and do the same in reverse until he's able to ring the blue bell, then you can grab the sigil which will let you destroy the black obstacles.
It's ANIMAL WELL all over again! Also, that last part where you were trying to push the box up and right was so painful to watch. You could've just used the ice rock right next to the stairs to get yourself to the right without even accessing the lower area of the screen... but oh well, what you did works too, and even destroying the green block in the process. But that took way too long for what is ultimately an easy puzzle TvT 36:15 you were RIGHT THERE (Also, side note, the egg locations are randomized as well :) )
If it's any consolation, it was painful for me to rewatch as well lol
Thank you for the playthrough plugged! You might have most complete playthrough on youtube at the moment- most people stop right after the first manticore, but for you that's only halfway through the playlist. I don't think it would be disingenuous at all if you did a bonus episode showing off all the ARG stuff.
14:00 this is known as a bezier curve, and you are basically moving two invisible 2D points around
I would have loved to play this game to be honest, but it's a windows exclusive and I don't buy those on principle..
there are multiple pages to the building plans, so there are multiple solutions each for their own tube. The first page is not for the tube next to it.
I figured this out WAY too late :(. A later episode reveals my mistake, stay tuned....
the code is 5 tones x 5 bobcat babies = 25 tones, i think. or is it longer?
nvmd its way more
22:02 you'd pretty much completed the puzzle 😂😂 (you got it anyway, but it was funny to see you resetting a few steps away from being done)
I've done that SO MANY times in this game and I honestly don't know how to avoid it🙃
@@pluggedintogaming taking some time and thinking backward helps, especially in Sokoban-esque games. just look at the different ways you could get to your goal and work from there. If you're worried about the video being too silent, you can just think out loud and have the audience listen in to what you're cooking. Anyway, really like the content 👍
new series 🎉🎉
I had the same feeling once I realized the bunny puzzle is not solvable alone - I kind of stopped trying to 100% it from there. Amazing game still
17:43 You made me feel old rsrs I played the original resident evils on the ps1
@@Verg.B I just got to the series very late. Didn't have consoles that could play any of the Resident Evils until much later in life. Now an avid fan!
Loved the playthrough! I also had a couple "Oh come on ... I would NEVER have figured that out!" moments as well. For example, the barcode puzzle, the floor-is-lava solution, the cooperative bunny mural, the spawn-song puzzle: these were all far too obscure for me to think of, much less solve without hints online. I can't say this bugged me too much. Rather, I appreciate that, since Billy Basso was clear in media that he didn't expect gamers to be able to solve all of the puzzles, it makes me feel like he put them in there just for the truly diehards to find and enjoy. People like me can just sit back and marvel at the byzantine way his and others' minds work. Furthermore, you didn't even touch on the wingdings puzzles (layer 4)! I honestly haven't even pursued these for a moment, but I think they're amazing to have included in a game like this. For that reason and many more, this is easily my GOTY so far, and an experience I won't forget for a long time. Glad to have watched! Maybe I'll check out laser eyes next!! ~A random asshole on the internet
@@chuckcrouse6178 I'm glad that this game resonated so well with you. Puzzle games are the best! Lorelei is also definitely worth checking out from what I've seen so far
I'm pretty sure the note location on the map is always the same, but the notes that you need to play definitely are random. Edit: Also, you mentioned that comment of mine about the randomness :)
@@TheMeGuyYes Thank you for that comment! Otherwise I have no way of knowing (I go full media blackout on any game I play until I beat it/get as far as I can)
Loved the series, started following you because of it. There is no problem you didn't "finish" the game, it was enjoyable the way it was.
@@Verg.B Thanks for watching all the way! Stick around for even more wacky puzzle games. Lorelei is up next👀🧩
The light bright puzzle was actually solved after the game came out. There are different pieces that each player got and clues on how they fit together. Now that you've solved it you can go ahead and use the top on the ground next to the controls and it leads you to a room with your particular part.
There is something out in the void. The truth is out there... the ultimate secret.
This was a very satisfying 2nd ending to watch! Thanks!! On a related note, @Verg.B is correct: the bunnies get very, very, very difficult to find. If you truly wish to find them all without hints, I would expect it to take you a lot longer than you might want. It was at this same point I took about 1-2 hours to sweep through the whole map again, pursuing any bunny leads that I hadn't fully tugged on yet. After that, i went used the below non-spoilery guide to gently nudge me in the direction of the rest of the mysteries. (Feel free to click without warning. All the spoilers are revealed when you click them, and only on a concept-by-concept basis.) Using that, I was able to find most of the ones I missed, and decide not to pursue a few others I thought sounded... too byzantine for my tastes. www.reddit.com/r/animalWell/comments/1cumy1v/animal_well_hintsbeforesolutions_nonspoilery/ Happy hunting!
How many bunnies did you get so far? They are REALLY hard to find
They are indeed. Answer to that question in the next episode!
I really enjoy your videos, but for you must edit out more heavily to make it fun to watch
I edit out anything that I think is just dead air, but editing too much defeats the point of watching someone play a puzzle game and figure out the solution. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I looked up the answers or didn't think about it!
This really was a "productive" episode Looking forward for the 4 elements together, it looked really hard
Dude I love how ou explained the egg code! Kudos for getting it so immediately and naturally! :-D But you gotta admit you're terrible at looking for "drillable" ground with the top! The game isn't being excessively obtuse, it's just something you don't particularly look for!! Glad you got it! 🥚🥚🥚 Edit: I can think of at least 2 additional locations you haven't used the top still!!
I'm so happy you figured out the egg code, and even preemptively caught the upside down egg!
What is the time in between the recording and being published? Just asking :) Also, that top left room isn't an egg room, and it's not solved by using the wheel, it's solved by another tool. What's for certain though, is that it's solved by using that one tool only, and it's a decently precise platformer (and or timing (Mostly timing)) challenge.
I recorded basically all of the playthrough through the month of May. It's just taken a while because of the number of episodes! And yes, I've since found that out and am not happy about it😪
:) It was nice to hear you say you clearly don't know how to use the top lol! That was me with another tool. This game man!!! BWHAH!! Edit: Just to save you the pain on the top left, that is not related to your last egg!
"Oh no, not the dream girl" is so funny ooc
The clock numbers is about how fast you get to it after creating the save file (in minutes) 30 = 0.5 hour 90 = 1.5 hour 300 = 5 hour So yeah, you can't do anything about it, i don't think.
Yeah this is an unfortunate element of this playthrough that I mentioned could be a possibility but couldn't know for sure without the internet's help.
@@pluggedintogaming Also, remember that chest in the room with skulls? Those skulls represent your deaths, and to get the chest, you need to get there deathless.
16:46 I cannot express how lucky you got with that.
I have since understood and glad I had luck on my side😂
DRILL BABY DRILL! DRILL BABY DRILL!! DRILL BABY DRILL!!! Edit: (Actually maybe go for the Eel boss first 👍)
So, the joke about the statues is that one of the statues always just doesn't exist. In this case, it's red (chosen randomly). What you were supposed to do was push the red statue into the water, since it doesn't exist, but YOU fell in the water, which, somehow, still counted, but didn't play the proper completion animation where the statues supposed to all blink rapidly and disappear.
I had a feeling something wacky was going on. Pushing it out (deducing that there ISN'T a sixth statue and therefore removing it from the 5x5 map grid because it doesn't exist) is a fun out-of-the-box solution, but the way it played out for me just confused me lol. Interesting to know that some game elements are randomized.
@@pluggedintogaming Quite a bit of the game is randomized. For example, those rooms in the fire island where you fight monster, spawn different monsters per playthrough. Those dragonflies are also randomized. The Wind island (You could also call Ice island) is by far the most randomized because of the navigation system.
I love how you solved the brick breaker puzzle your own way instead of actually playing the brick breaker minigame, I never even thought of making a path to bubble up there. If it works, it works.
Don't want to spoiler anything, but you should forget about the groundhog, it's just an easter egg
3:32 you're the only stream i've watched to correctly id this as a "right angle" indicator.
15:15 He's embracing the madness 😵💫
I love how I can sometimes predict what part of the game you discover from your titles alone.
I try to really not spoil the game from the titles so anyone scrolling through can still discover everything by themselves. But it's like an inside joke, once you know... :)
24:00 wow you really took the hard way 😅
What's the easy way???
@@pluggedintogaming disk + timing slinky.
@@pluggedintogaming You had it! You tried the disk one "block" too high.
Copy the Stone Send the Stone Brake the Stone with the copy of Stone
Fish is the word!!
You figured out the final cat code! Good job! Now just to find where and how to reap the rewards of freeing those cats.... (Yes I maybe have laughed a little at you walking past where the final code was and not noticing, but i'm well aware that's a bit rich coming from me when I refused to play that myself on the basis that i know i'm not clever enough for it, so don't mind me) also you are _so close_ to figuring out the deal with the skeleton eel thing!! like. yeah there's stuff you're still missing as of this video, but you've been so close
OMG I KNOW He's soooooo close to the Eel. And honestly "defeating" the eel will probably open up so much other stuff for him!!
MAN! Got it to the M. Disc Shrine sooo smoothly! Nicely done :-D
Still loving the videos my man! Love your approach and appreciation for games like this! ✌
u overthink a little much and sometimes it feels like the episode hasn't really accomplished much... maybe you could try solvong backwards? Starting from the goal and trying to see what steps you might need to take. Also, you usually reset when you are like 75% through with the actual solution which is frustrating at times. Still, i like the videos. Big yes for me
The episode is literally called Overthinking It lol
@@pluggedintogaming lmao
OMG the Mock disk just put itself back in the dog statue head by iteself... You didn't even get the chance to realize you did the chase ending around 21:00 for absolutely nothing 😛Loving this thanks!
Loving the videos so far! Lol do you not see the guards with shields and spears at first? Seems like you literally ran into each one of them like they weren't there! Looking forward to the rest of your series 👍
I was probably just testing the process. I can't take anything for granted in this game!
You're so close on the E. Medal fish. You've just dismissed an important part of the puzzle.
You clearly been overthinking a bit on this episode, hope you can calm down a bit in the future. Looking forward to more episodes
You figured the cat (well, I'm pretty sure they're lynx kittens, what with the tufted ears and tiny short tails, but some feline either way, and the community keeps calling them cats) codes out!! I was wondering how long it'd take you to put together how they're used. By the way, each of the codes had, somewhere in the floor or ceiling by it, symbols that weren't arrows. There were matching symbols in the ceiling above each cage, to indicate which code should be used to open which cage. (You're not by any means the only animal well youtuber i've watched whose walked past those multiple times and never figured it out, though.) Of course, one can also just try all the codes until one works too, but like, they were marked to show which code is for which cage Have you still not figured out the indication for when ground can be broken by the top? Not to be rude, I'm just wondering since I see you passing points that are marked as being breakable by top, but then trying it in places that aren't marked so at all
At the point I was at, it made more sense to just try out all the cat codes and see which ones worked where, but I did end up noticing the corresponding codes, but after the fact. I know the dirt indicator for the top, but for whatever reason I have a really hard time spotting it, especially in rooms I've been through multiple times. I don't know if the game needs to make it a LITTLE more obvious or I should just pay more attention, but I've missed almost every single instance of it throughout the game. I think it also comes down to tunnel vision playing the game on recording and looking at every other clue/secret.
3:50 this was the last one i found as well, it was so frustrating this whole time i played that i was missing this match the whole time
It's kinda fun to me how many people walk directly past the hints on where/how to use those codes several times without noticing it. I'm waiting with interest to see how long it takes you to figure it out!
Liked ❤
Glad you found your breakthrough at the end! Makes things so much easier
