How I'd Fix the Timeless Child - Doctor Who

Taking my own opinions on what did and didn't work with the Timeless Child revelation from the Doctor Who Series 12 finale, The Timeless Children. I suggest what I would do to 'fix' the issues that some have with this revelation, whilst trying to preserve both the long history of Doctor Who and the episode The Timeless Children itself. This is basically more of a a fan theory. It is NOT an NMD ...

What a load of nonsense, and my god has it aged badly. Going back Series 5-10 is the only consistent run in NuWho, a couple of clunkers but what I wouldn't give to return to this high quality.
The fact this video is nine years old....and its still correct😔😔
I always planned to update it (and fix those damn typos) when we next got a find but alas…
Absolutely incredible video
Awesome vid
I really liked this season having returned to the show. Rem of Daleks - really good, 8/10 Happiness was OK, 5/10 Silver - good 7/10 Greatest - Great in parts but too long 6/10.
Your end credits for Terror of the Autons need adjusting. It's Robert Holmes not Homes.
The Daemons, whilst certainly influenced by The Devil Rides Out, is nearer to folk horror.
(Guy) Leopald is pronounced "Leo paulled" not Leopard!
The Abominable Snowmen is set in 1935 so Web would be set in 1975. TFL didn't exist in 1968, it was LT London Transport that complained.
The Enemy of the World is exceptionally underrated. Great to see Victoria being uncharacteristically forceful.
Good video, nice bit of background research. Couple of small issues with names, however. "Marvin" Haisman? It is Mervyn - pronounced "mur-vin" He is then erroneously credited as "Hainsman" in your outro. Also it is Giles Kent not Niles.
I bought Wartime as a kid from John Fitton at great expense. I watched it once. 😂
They kept the show alive through the 90's, but then BBC killed it in the 2000's.
I’m quite nostalgic for those 1990s DW days. New stories in the form of the NAs and MAs and the magazine comic strips, seeing the old classics on VHS (and for all bar a couple of pre-Tom Baker it was my first time seeing them) and the lost audio tapes being released. The only disappointment was the awful TV Movie. And yes, the show since 2005 has been a travesty of the original.
@@kamandi1362 The movie was a huge disappointment. The movies from the 60's weren't bad, with Peter Cushing as The Doctor.
FLUX is such a fave Series 1,4,5,6,10 and FLUX are my faves just i associate so much with these years ...theyre just peak in so many ways ....three years have gone by and FLUX standa up massively....compared to what we got recently FLUX is above them all imo 💙💙✨
The first encounter with Nemesis feels like it has potential to connect with current Doctor Who.
this video completely overlooks the true problem with moffat, his overt misogyny and homophobia
Why would saying 'crypt' annoy Christians?
I dont think Holmes was political only in his script about the tax office.Malcolm Hulke was the political writer
Is some of this made up particularly the stories that fell through where is your source???
No it’s all true and can be found on sites such as Wikipedia As for the unmade stories here’s just one source: www.shannonsullivan.com/drwho/lost/lostxyz.html
@@doinkadect7395 All such things need to be varified as people could view it take offence or maybe is connected with Robert and it lands in the hands of legal teams.Just some friendly advice mate.
Silver Nemesis is so much better than people claim it to be. If you go into it expecting a Cyberman story it's definitely disappointing however as it's own unique story it's a really fun one. Seven and Ace running around battling these weird characters and fighting Cybermen all in just 3 episodes it doesn't outstay it's welcome. Nowhere near the level of Remembrance but not as bad as people say.
This promotes non-canon Doctors, please take this down
Oh aye
He basically write 3 different scenarios where a little girl at first views the Doctor as some sort of father figure or guardian or some guy that she's supposed to center her whole life for, for whatever reason . then grows up and becomes horny for him😒 that's enough for me to realize the guy really has a problem
He can't write a convincing overarching narrative that's why. His contained stories are excellent but when it comes to putting in something like Bad Wolf from S1, he falters because he doesn't know how to sustain a set up and pay off over that amount of time
Great Classic doctor who.Americans loves doctor who
I remember listening to "The Enemy of the World" as an audio adventure on CD as well.
I have listened to that "Tomb of the Cybermen" story arc as an audio adventure on CD. It used the audio of the original TV episodes, with bridging narration voiced by the actress who had been the Doctor's companion at that time.
Love these little retrospectives
The tomb of the Cybermen is jolly good wot wot me old fruit pie
Super smashing lovely here's what you could have won
Shorchio 😅
Man, I’ve been watching Doctor who since eccleston but I’m really feeling nostalgic for the 50th and 12 now, almost feels like as things turn 10 years since, you really get the feels
This is very good, keep it up, you gained a subscriber :)
You cannot compare any writer of DW with him. His writing, his consistency is beyond RTD could ever dream of 😂😂😂
Consistency? Making the 11th Doctor a deep and caring character who had nothing but everyone's best interests at heart before making 12 slag off every single species and calling everyone stupid and being socially awkward. Writing brilliant companions like Rory and Bill and also writing the worst ever companion being Clara Oswald. Never letting a character die. But sure, consistency. Okay sure.
@@thetimeshadow676912 one of the Most iconic doctors to ever exist. A deep Charter who is scared of being left alone and IS more introverted then the previous doctors, who went From an angered man to a Kind Hero WHO finnaly accepted His death and forgive himself. A truly remarcable Character. Clara Oswald is by far the best doctor who companion who Had an Infinite complex relationship and development with the doctors. RTD is in fact shit at writing.
@@thetimeshadow6769RTD biggest bangers are From moffat Like blink, silence in the library ect. Take Them Off and the other ones He has written and Tell me how good His era still is. S2 has amazing EP ofc but then you got a new earth, Love and Monsters, an Idiot lantern and fear her 💀 yeah you Tell me that this is consistent
@@progamer1118 Is Steven Moffat the one who brought Doctor Who back in 2005 with a highly acclaimed and brilliant Series 1 that introduced an incredible backstory in the shape of the time war? No? I didn’t think so. Is Steven Moffat the one who ruined the incredible backstory in the shape of the time war with the disastrous Series 9 Finale? Yes. Yes he is.
@@thetimeshadow6769 Also s3 fucked Up a Lot. First half was Ass and the second was mid to good. The only series that stayed consistent was s4 and maybe s1. Overall RTD isnt Close to him
The bbc really did capaldi dirty when it came to advertising
Really well put together video! I believe (and someone will correct me if I’m wrong), but I don’t think Terry Nation kept badgering Letts and Dicks’ production team with an origin story for the Daleks. I think it was Barry Letts himself who said in an interview that after Nation had handed in the script to Death to the Daleks, Letts had politely said to him, something along the lines of, “Yes, thanks for the script Terry, but there’s nothing really different to your previous Dalek scripts (Letts was trying to be tactful), so why not go away and write an origin story for the Daleks?” Which is what Nation did. As Genesis is created to Nation, I’d like to think that the majority of it was his own work, particularly the Nazi aspects, which go all the way back to the first Dalek serial that Nation wrote. I’m sure Holmes may have improved some of the dialogue here or there with his own words (all Doctor Who script editors have done that), and it’s documented fact that Nation’s opening scene with the Doctor and the Time Lord was not set on the battlefield of Skaro, but in the nice surroundings of a lovely garden! So Holmes did improve some things in Genesis, but I still believe that Nation went away from that meeting with Letts, determined to show him that he could produce a unique Doctor Who story, and he came back months later with the classic that is Genesis of the Daleks!
Those incarnations are morbis not the doctor
Timeless child is not canon
And he’s back 😂🤯
Which means we're all doomed.
I didn't like Boom
Then Chris Chibnall came along and said," Hold my beer."
i love coming back and seeing people take Moffat's era for granted
I think you're in the wrong place then. This video describes Moffat's Era perfectly.
@@thetimeshadow6769 yeah i didnt watch it, now i did, it honestly had accurate criticisms, granted i dont agree with some things but nonetheless
Figures like Terrance Dicks and Malcolm Hulke were true writers - these current writers are crap.
It was actually a very good season. I know some people have problems with "Silver Nemesis"(the plot is quite similar to "Remembrance of the Daleks" - I do take that onboard), but it's still quite an action packed romped - I think "Remembrance of the Daleks" should of actually been the anniversary story. It's also kind of a shame that there was no multi Doctor celebratory story(The 7 Doctors - although sadly having no Patrick or someone to stand-in for William would of been difficult). McCoy seemed to really start to make his mark as the Doctor - and a lot of that has to be credited to the new script editor(Andrew Cartmel) and also the new set of writers that he got for this season. It's just a shame that the show sadly came to an end the following year.
Yes Yessss Robert Colin Holmes. My Grandpa
Series 3 one was pretty cringe lmao
I’m a weirdo. I actually like New Earth. I thought the humor was great and a welcome change from the world ending plots of the previous episodes. The Doctor’s reaction to the kiss was priceless! ❤ Responding to comments builds a tremendous amount of engagement with your audience. Even a heart on comments really goes a long way. Just a bit of unsolicited advice.
CUPling, not COOPling. It’s about couples dating. Interesting video. Enjoyed it! I agree, Moffat is both incredible and utter rubbish at times. His season arcs post season 5 drove me nuts. Clara started out so great. It was so disappointing to watch Moffat slowly turn her into a highly unlikable individual. Her character development was woefully inconsistent. As was Capaldi’s if I’m being honest. I would throw River Song in there as well. Makes me sad to think how great they all could have been under a better show runner who cared about consistency in character development. SIGH. As a side note, the music in your video is fine. However, it drowns out your voice. I’m more interested in your analysis than random songs. Just noticed this video is from 5 years ago. I think Chibnall surpassed Moffat as most controversial show runner ever. 😂😂😂😂
Until Chinballs and RTD came along and said, "Hold my Guiness Moffatt".
All of these teasers are so epic The preview of the new doctor, companions, sneak peeks of new episodes & some of the villains making every doctor who fans excited to watch this show
Afternoons???? It was mid evening by 7.35pm. And Ace fired an ATR (anti tank rocket) at the dalek. Not an RPG.
