You can put the AC under the van also. Maybe thats very expensive, I don’t know. I would definitely get a AC in my future van, especially for my dog.

Have you looked into a rv 240v generator to fit under the van... Not cheap, but automatic and only 50z...x

Hi both 👋 Cŵn Defaid Cymreig they are very special ❤🐾🐾🐾🐾 I have several and Pyrenean Mountain Dogs (10 in total) We the dogs and I , are hoping to move to live permanently in Portugal in 2024 as soon as my riverside property here in south west Wales sells 🤞 Its certainly not going to be as straight forward as it once was (pre - Brexit ) To complete the sale here, myself and the dogs will have to move out of the house and live in my van and dog trailer, whilst applying for and waiting for my D7 visa. to be issued, before we can leave for Portugal. The application for the D7 visa will include remotely pre -buying a habitable house with a couple of hectors of land in Portugal . These post Brexit shenanigans are heartbreaking, when one considers all the freedoms we had and benefitted from whilst we were still EU members ❤‍🩹 My van is a medium wheelbase 2004 Renault Master, she's not converted to a camper-van, but is fitted with removable dog crates as is my Ifor Williams stock trailer. I won't be converting her as that will make it very difficult to register her on to Portuguese number-plates. As I understand it, the Portuguese authorities are not lovers of self converted camper-vans. However I should be able to register her as a van, I say that because I had no problems getting her on to Swedish plates when we moved to and lived in Sweden. And that's a whole other pre Brexit story! The plan is, out with some dog crates, and a very basic removable camping style set up installed keeping the cost as low as possible, after all it won't be for ever, possibly six to seven months to get everything sorted, visa issued, dogs and possessions shipped over to our new home somewhere in Portugal🙂🤞... just another adventure in my long life of adventures, and challenges overcome 💪👍 Today I found you quite by accident, having never attempted to live in my van before or any van for that matter. I wondered how van-lifers dealt with the basics, mostly mail but other stuff too ? And so I asked Mrs Google, and there you were both of you with a Q&A Brilliant! just what I needed 😁 I must confess that I was beginning to struggle with the whole concept, especially with my dog family in tow , and yes I realise things would almost be a total doddle, if I didn't have them. But I do! and they are family! So we are just going to have to manage !!! 💖my 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕 Now over the coming weeks, I will be pouring over all your videos and having a good look and listen to your Q&A hopefully to get some ideas from them of how to solve some of the difficulties that I am undoubtedly going to face over the coming months. Getting the dogs over is a worry, I have a cupboard full of now seemingly useless Pet passports, mostly British/EU , although amongst them are 1 Polish , 2 x Swedish and 1 x French passport. Whether they can be used when the time comes I really don't know!? I have however kept all my dogs rabies jabs up to date and recorded on separate vaccination cards.... I am well aware not to let a British Vet anywhere near to the Pet Passports as that would immediately make any that may be viable, null and void! I briefly read something about your dogs now being holders of Irish / EU Pet Passports ? I wonder if that may be an option for us ? because getting a one trip health certificate, is not only expensive per dog, but not in my experience an easy task to find a willing vet. Several vets I have asked to do the health certificates, are not very keen on doing them and if they have shown some reluctant interest, quoted a small fortune to do them. Most that I have asked made whatever excuse they could think of to not do them ! I guess I'll figure it all out in the end 😳😅 P/S please excuse my novella 🙄😇

Regarding your worktop. You don't need to sand them down. Just give them a good clean. Probably white spirit.. Use nylon pads. Thoroughly dry. Then apply osmo. And do it more frequently in future. Then probably no need to clean with spirit. I'm a flooring contractor. Restoring wood floors for over 30 yrs.

Brilliant if you can be there a good amount of time it helps spread that ferry cost

Enjoyed your video, very informative. We are having a van converted by vanlife conversions early in 2025 so have a bit of time to make decisions. My current area of indecision is size of van. I like the idea of the L4H3 ( keeping bikes in the van ) but am concerned about keeping under the 3.5t limit. Vanlife conversions recommend uprating to 4.5t but this would require a driving test. Is it a problem for you keeping under the weight limit and is the size of the van a problem when getting around ? Cheers

Having a dog in a van can be a good thing, it can also be very challenging. It evolves around the type of dog you have. Some dogs woof all the time at the smallest pin drop, some don’t. Having a dog is like having a child. It 100% makes its harder in van life. If you going to get a dog its a 15 year commitment not just for you van life time.

Can you recommend a vet in Ireland please or is it just a case of phoning around?

What are the dimensions of your sink? I have a sink that’s 33” x 22” but I’m thinking it might be too big…

Great to have an update after only watching your initial tour yesterday. It's very disappointing to hear that it can be difficult to find LPG. I'm currently planning my own build for next year and was pretty set on LPG water heater, heater and hob/oven. I prefer the idea of LPG as it's much cleaner than diesel and means not having to fiddle with the van's fuel tank.
