QUIETLY EXPLORING AN ANCIENT ABANDONDED CHURCH HIDDEN IN THE WOODS
Trying to imagine the time and effort to gather all the stones what look like flint stones to build the place and there is only a small part of it left.
It must have been an incredible castle to see complete. Thanks for watching
Cool...I'll take a look .
thanks for watching
Played cricket at old Buckenham probably hslf a dozen times but never knew that was there.
It is a lot closer to new Buckenham. It’s well hidden and on private land but you can get the key to the gate from the shop in new Buckenham. They just ask for a donation when you return the key. Thanks for watching
We lost relatives to the Lancastrians at Buckenham Steak and kidney pudding is still a dirty word at family gatherings Perhaps this video is a little too soon
👍 Thank you for watching
New subscriber here! I really enjoyed this. Thank you!
Thank you. I'm really glad you enjoy the video 👍
Walking down pathway, you dont expect it to open into the beautiful green space. It is on my list to visit.
It's a lovely quiet place to visit. It's on private land but if you go to the village shop they will give you the key to the gate. They just ask for a donation on your return
Wonderful video
Thank you
Great job! Perfect video to watch before bed and turn off my brain. Nothing to listen to. Just watch and read. Make more please
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching
Thank you for sharing. My husband and I really enjoyed this!
Thank you. I’m glad you both enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
There he is! A fascinating place; thank you.
👋 it is a fantastic place. Thanks for watching 👍
My friends house is now at the cliff edge and she is due to move out soon, so different from 25 years ago when the cliff edge was a distance away, Such a beautiful place
It is such a shame. I hope your friend gets out in time. Thanks for watching
I used to play a computer dk game called Castle Explorer.

The homie is back! 💪
😂 thanks for watching 👍
If it was a Motte & Bailey Castle, where's the Motte?
Unfortunately most of the motte was completely levelled off , tho there are some small signs it was there. Thanks for watching
BRILLIANT.... 😊 we were there (in "Haysboro" this afternoon) spookily. Amazing place, very windy, and beautiful. Deserted, which was great. Thanks to your vid, we'll go back this week and explore some more. (We're on our hollybobs in East Ruston). 😊... looking fwd to watching more ... Thanks a lot.
Thank you. It is a lovely place to explore. I hope you have a great holiday. Thanks for watching
@QuietlyExploring We loved your vid, the end part too (was that a drone or were you on a mountain bike?). Anywhere near here that you recommend must see 💯 for a visit? Ta much. 😊
@Dentyden2011 sorry for the late reply. I don’t use this account very often. No I don’t have a drone . The shot was just done with the camera attached to a pole
What is a pill box?
Never mind I looked it up.
Look up the defence stop lines prepared for a possible invasion in 1940. There are whole lines of pill boxes even in the lake district surviving to this day. We can see that our Grandparents and Great Grandparents were prepared to fight every mile if an invasion had happened. They were the Greatest generation never to be forgotten.
@@Kevin-vx8qe Yes they were.
A nice Roman relic but nowhere near as good as the Roman fort of Portchester Castle near Portsmouth in Hampshire, which has a Medieval Castle built into one corner.
Yes that does look fantastic. I do hope to get there one day. Thanks for watching
A rare Norman castle that survived the civil war slighting
It's a fantastic castle. Thanks for watching
You might consider visiting Thetford Priory, which is near the town centre and in good condition. Four students visiting it one evening had an interesting time slip (or ghost?) experience.
Yes I will have to visit it soon. Thanks for the suggestion. That’s interesting about the ghost. Thanks for watching
I love my local monuments
Great video, the Priory looks stunning set against that clear blue Norfolk sky!
It is a stunning priory. We are very lucky In Norfolk. Thanks for watching
Give it all back.
To bad there isn't an original drawing or painting somewhere.
Used to be on the edge of Gariensis a very large salt water estuary that went as far as Acle, and north to Castre now Caister where there was a Roman town. The estuary silted up gradually and a Sand Bank formed which became Great Yarmouth. Peat digging which further caused the Broads to form and lower water levels. Then about 300+ years ago, the Dutch came over and further drained the land to give us the rich pastures we have today. It's 500 yards from my home so this is an very appreciated video for me as I find it hard for a wheelchair to reach. You need pay to park in the official car park.
Thank you for watching. I’m really glad you appreciate the video. Norfolk is a fantastic place full of amazing history
For twenty-one years I worked at the nearby gas terminal, and saw the lighthouse every time I drove to work, but had never visited the village. After i retired my wife and I visited, stopping on the cliff top for a pic-nik. We watched people on the beach below but the best thing was watching the seals people watching just a few feet away. Sadly that cliff top has now moved back several meters.
It is such a shame but at least you have some good memories. Thanks for watching
We hear a lot about coastal erosion in Norfolk but this is part of coastal build up. The whole of the marshes from the sand bank Great Yarmouth is now built upon all the way to Acle was a navigable estuary in Roman times.
Portchester castle is a much better example of
One of my most favourite places in Britain. It's so undervalued!
It really is. Thanks for watching
Beautiful visit around this calming site. Leiston is truly a remarkable place, great to read about the chapel left ruinous here. The stained glass window is so impressive to see still as is the WW2 pillbox, Thank you for sharing
It is a lovely quiet hidden gem. Thanks for watching
I love your videos. So peaceful. Just a nice sunny walk with the birds chirping. Thank you.
Thank you. I’m really glad you enjoy them
Fascinating place!
great vlog
Thanks for watching
Try Silchester in Reading RG7 2HP. It's in a similar condition as Burgh and free to visit and has a small amphitheatre close by. Been there loads of times and love it.
Thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully one day I will be able to get there. Unfortunately I don’t have the money to travel at the moment , but hopefully that will change soon
I can’t believe that the government is going to let the whole of Norfolk wash away into the sea! So much for housing people and responsibility.
Another enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing 💜
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching
Beautiful place, and a lovely day for it too! Thank you taking us with you. 😁
It really was a beautiful day. Thank you for watching
It's amazing how so much can be said without a single word. Thank you, for another great video.

Very lovely and peaceful. Thank you for sharing 💜
Thank you for watching. Its a great place to visit out in the middle of the forest
A beautiful piece of history, very calming. Would be nice to see the upper floor too. Unfortunately, but probably for a good reason, its barred off.
Yes it is a shame the building is barred off unfortunately. Thanks for watching
Wonderful. Very peaceful. 😊
Thank you for watching
These ruins are within walking distance of my home and as a kid we used to play around there. About seventy years ago. I believe that there are stricter rules about that now. But as children we didn’t appreciate just how important an area it is.
