You’re so brave to have taken it the first month it rolled out 😭😭 but thank you so much for making these videos for the rest of us who are super anxious about the new test! Mines Oct 10, wish me luck 😅😅
You’ve got this!!!! I hope this video helped!
I tried to make an appt however. No onw answers the phone 2:00
Hi Josh, thank you for the video; it gave a good sense of what to expect and what to provide. If you don't mind sharing, for the supervisor sections on the experiences, did you contact your supervisors/contact persons ahead of time to get permission for OptomCAS to contact them? Would it be weird to list the contact information of the person and not click on yes for OptomCAS to contact them?
I didn’t end up telling them - just because I was pretty confident they wouldn’t reach out to them, but you also can omit their contact info as well, I’m sure it will have little impact on your application
I’m already an OD degree holder from Africa , pls how do I start?
Hello! You can start by contacting a few schools you are interested in to ask questions about your situation! Do you need any contact information?
What does a 105 DAT score mean? Doesn't the DAT only go up to 31?
As far as I know the DAT is out of 30, I’m not really sure what a 105 would be
Nice vid! Do you know what schools out there are awaiting accreditation? I haven’t been able to find any info about this online.
Hello! I think all schools on the ASCO website are either accredited or pre-accredited- but the newest schools I know are RMU in Utah, CCO in Chicago, and KYCO in Kentucky! I know there are also a few new schools opening up the next couple of years as well!
What is the easiest school to apply for in igot my bs degree from cairo egypt and now i have green card i am thinkbingvabout applying to optometry school my gpa is 3.0 so what is the easiest i can apply to that accet my gpa
lol
This is not funny bro
Hi Josh! I’m currently studying for the OAT using Bootcamp but I’ve been hearing lots of good things about Booster? I’m worried that I may have picked the wrong program
I think both programs are very good! Make sure to use all of the study material and practice exams in Bootcamp, and I’m sure you’ll be able to achieve a great score as well!
Obama: let me be clear
So nice to meet you in person!!
Looking forward to many more conferences!
I started 10th grade a few weeks ago and I’m already having a mental breakdown over chem 😢
Boy are we grateful for Mr beast
That kids got some pipes.
Hello Sir, I’ve checked out your RUclips channel and love what you’re creating! There are just a few areas, such as thumbnails and tags, that could be improved to maximize your reach. If you’re open to it, I’d love to chat about strategies to boost your channel’s growth.
Nice! Do you have to have a bachelor's degree? Or will an associates be acceptable before entering a doctorates program?
Some schools require a bachelors, some schools do not- I can try to get you that information if you give me your email!
They arent doctors
the ending about the red flags was so funny for some reason 😂
Bwa
your videos are getting better
Thanks! 🙏
Thanks so much for sharing your experience!!
No problem, let me know if any other experiences you think would be worth me sharing!
Me after watching this 21 times: “insert cash or select payment type, use pin pad to complete transaction.”
Amazing josh
Haha Thank you!!
Get it Josh
🙏🙏
Thank You! You are so right! I'm so thankful for your content! You for sure helped this student!🎉 Would you recommend doing your bachelor's at an optometry school?
I don’t think it makes a huge difference, but it might make it easier if you know you want a school like Houston or IU to go to their undergraduate program as well! As far as finding a place to live, interviewing, and knowing the program
A 6 month wait for results is brutal. Good luck dude thanks for sharing.
Thanks man, I know it’s kind of a long wait- but it should be ok 👍
Optometry school is ridiculous too long. It should be a masters degree at the very most. Their scope of practice is so limited there is no reason for a 4 year doctoral program.
I am doing bachelors of optometry in my first year right now I needed a clarification Can i write OD after the completion of my bachelor's
So in the United States optometry is a 4 year doctorate program after a bachelors- OD standing for doctor of optometry, so I don’t think that title applies in other countries where it is a bachelors degree? Does that make sense?
INSERT CASH OR SELECT PAYMENT TYPE, USE PIN PAD TO COMPLETE TRANSACTION! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
LOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂 FR
Dkudgdndjdgdj
Appreciate you sharing man, praying for you!
🙏🙏
No my olny question its i live in mizoram im under 12 years old my eyes are small so pls tell me my question thats all
Hi I am planning on applying to the 2024 cycle as well. What other questions are good to ask the colleges administration besides our applications?
I like to ask some personal questions, like ‘why did you choose to work at this program over others?’ Or ‘what do you like to do for fun around here?’ Some more optometry-pointed ones could be ‘what changes have been made to this program lately that you feel improve the students experience here?’ You’ve got this!!! Good luck!
Hi! I am from Pakistan explain an that how an asian or developing country become optromtrist because here after 12th grade directly admission in to bs optromtry..... Maje separate video
I will make sure to make this video next!
Do you think applying in late September/ early October is still considered early? My OAT test date is on August 22nd.
I think most schools consider applying before December as early- so you should be good with that timeline! Good luck with your OAT!!
I wonder if practicing optometrists think you'll eventually be their competition. Cause in reality, you will. Love your video. Please keep them coming!
Haha hopefully I can at least get a job 😅 gotta focus on graduating first!
DONT IT SCREWS UP YOUR VISION FOREVER harms it too overtime if u dont feel effects at first
What is Cbat??
This vedio more and more useful ..it is very interesting
Do you have to have oat scores to apply or can you take the OAT sooner?
Nope! You can submit your application without any scores! Just know that most schools will not interview you until your scores are in- but most will still see and review your application! (But if you can take your OAT as early as you can it helps, too!)
Such a helpful video! Thank you 😊
I'm glad it could help!
not boring at all! I throughly enjoyed this vlog. as always thank you for your insight :)
Haha, you're too kind!
Hi Josh, Thank you so much for the video. I have a question that's been weighing on my mind for a while now. At 26, I've decided to completely change career paths and pursue optometry. I've thrown myself into completing the prerequisites and preparing for the next application cycle. However, I'm struggling with balancing my family life and studies. I'm incredibly close to my parents, sibling, and cousins, and our very active lifestyles which include frequent trips, gatherings, and even just random day to day activities makes it hard for me to focus sometimes. I love spending time with my family but my coursework demands more time than my first degree did. Often, I have to say no to family events, which makes me feel guilty and overwhelmed. When I do say yes, I can't fully enjoy our time together because I'm worried about my studies. It's a constant battle between not wanting to miss out on family moments and needing to focus on my future. I'm considering studying away from home to make it easier to focus, and just remove the decision making out of the equation because at least that way I won’t have to constantly say no or feel distracted especially while in the program which I imagine is much harder than what I’m doing now. Despite these circumstances the thought of being away from my family makes me scared and sad and I worry it would affect my productivity and happiness if I did leave. I'm feeling very conflicted and unsure about what to do. Based on your experience and what you've seen others go through, what would you suggest?
That's a good question! I personally moved away to cut out distractions, but I know many people who have stayed and made it work! I would suggest being upfront and having a conversation with your family about it because it does save you a ton of money to stay home, but if your family isn't capable of taking your focused efforts as love/investment-in-future instead of an insult, it might be better to move anyway
Thank you, I think I will have to have a conversation with them about the extent of how much focus this journey will require of me, as of yet it’s still been manageable even without really having any serious talks but maybe if I come up with a good game plan with them in terms of how to navigate this upcoming chapter it will be easier to manage while still staying close to home. They have been very supportive of me and I’m sure they will understand perhaps they just don’t get the severity of the situation because they aren’t living it themselves but maybe I just need to be more direct. Thanks again for your reply!
It’s hard to hear what she said for minimum GPA. Did she say a minimum of 2.75 in your science classes? I think she did.
Yup! 2.75 minimum Science and Overall-- so they look at both
So cool!
I think the reality of any career is exhausting, unfortunately
unfortunately-- haha, but I can't wait until my Vision Therapy site, that's what I'd like to do!
