Christ Arose
A hymn prelude by Christopher Tambling on the Easter hymn "Christ Arose" (Low in the grave He lay). I played this as my postlude on Easter Sunday 2022. I've taken the liberty of inserting a verse (effectively verse 1) of the melody between the two repeats in the prelude. Apologies for the odd wrong notes.

My opening voluntary from last Sunday (3rd Sunday in Lent). This is a setrting of the Chorale Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (Out of the depths I cry, Lord, to Thee). This setting is attributed to Christian Geist (c.1640 - 1711). I play it in rehearsal on the Content 224 Compact digital organ at Wolston Baptist Church

This piece by French organist/composer Alexandre Guilmant uses the melody often su8ng to the carol "Infant Holy". However, I suspect Guilmant's inspiration came from different lyrics! I play this in the Harmonium version on my recently restored Alexandre Harmonium. (Restoration by Carl Heslop). There is also a version of the piece for pipe organ.

Back in 2006 I produced a CD of Christmas instrumentals. This is my arrangement of the tune Cranham, composed by Gustav Holst and normally sung to "In the Bleak Midwinter". This instrumental version is played on Roland Digital Piano.

I've heard many, many versions of this, mainly organ/piano. For example Stuart Mitchell/Bob Christie version, Esther McColl - both of whom played at the Luis Palau Crusade in 1981, Kelvin Hall, Glasgow. Also, John Hall from 'Way To Life' Crusades. Love his rapid triplet octaves in last verse. Good spirited playing, thanks!

Thanks Eugenio. I hope & pray that you have a happy and blessed Easter. This is rather a fun piece. Sadly, it's not my arrangement. It's published in "The Oxford Book of Lent and Easter Music for Manuals". (Although I did add a pedal note in the last chord). The composer is Christopher Tambling.

@@EGallmusica Thankds Eugenio. Although I am a Baptist (and a retired minister), I regard myself as a Christian first and foremost. I've been in churches of a number of denominations over the years, and was actice in local Ecumenical efforts for many years.

Thanks Jerry. It's actually a manuals only version in the Oxford book of organ music for Lent, Easter etc. I chose to solo the melody in places where it seemed appropriate, and added a pedal line in the closing bars which made them easier to play!
