I have one of these as well. Mine works perfectly, although would be nice to clean up the dust cover a bit, as there are some cosmetic scratches. But, then again, I got it for absolutely NOTHING due to a friend having it and not wanting it anymore, so he just gave it to me. That was some 15 years ago, though, back before the whole "vinyl revival" thing took off.

Mine died about 6 years ago. Bought mine in '85.

I have one nearly identical apart from the arm, model MT-6240. Mine has a low-mass straight arm with the cueing lever at the back of the arm. It's a great turntable and these were made by CEC who was an OEM supplier. In fact Marantz had a similar CEC sourced unit.

Help !! Selects 10 songs on the buttons. The LP has 5 tracks. All LEDs work. Searches through the LP and back and all the lights go out ????? WTF ??? New belt and cleaned from grease and the sensor with IPA but can't find the songs. Just bought and think can play without marking the songs. What can be wrong ???? I Rhett McNorton, thanks for the video and the details you explain. I recently bought an SL QL15, had lubes done and changed the belt. Everything works fine except auto return. When it reaches the end of the disc, the arm does not rise and returns to the beginning. Instead of lifting and returning it just tries to return but doesn't lift, it's very weird and I haven't been able to solve it yet. Do you have any tips if the automatic return can be adjusted or calibrated ? Thanks.

11:50 Pressing Stop/Clear clears the currently programmed sequence, but it won't cause it to rescan the tracks. It'll stubbornly continue to think the record has the number of tracks it detected in the previous scan, and not allow you to programme a track with a higher number. This is why that happened. The only way to rescan is to open and close the lid, or completely switch the unit off and on, and then program another sequence. Opening the lid assumes you put another record on, which is why it erases any previosly scanned track list. There is a general inaccuracy in detecting tracks, because different records have so vastly different run-in grooves. We can be happy it works at all. Yours works much better than mine currently: I'm currently in the process of readjusting the sensor sensitivity in mine, because it almost lost the ability to detect tracks at all. There's a procedure to do this described in the service manual. It involves accessing the measurement pinouts on the rear and measuring the detected sensor pulses using an oscilloscope (bought an extremely cheap one from Aliexpress just for this purpose). Wish me luck, haven't done it yet. I was browsing through youtube in the hope of finding a video where someone had done the same thing, this is how I came across yours.

This is amazing piece of technology, latest from Technics linear, which is simple from electrical and excellent from mechanical construction. Previous generation - SL5, 7, 10 - were nightmare in repair shop. Repairing them all is lot of fun.
