2024 Toyota Land Cruiser
We put our name on the list over a year ago and finally, here it is. The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser.
I talk about the engine a lot, but I should have added that this is the direction engines are going. There's nothing we can do about it. Everything will at least be hybrid, then battery only.
Also, if anyone is interested, this color is call Meteor Shower.
* DOES NOT have front and back lockers. It has a rear locker and center differential locker.

Installing Setrab Oil Cooler in the Green Bug

Car has been fine for around town, but it starts getting close to 220 after a half hour or so if it's warm out. I want to start taking longer rides, so I am installing this Setrab kit from F2 Performance.

BOBS65 #10 - Bug Front Fenders and Hood are just about tied up.
Просмотров 2128 месяцев назад
Repaired front fenders and got the hood cleaned up and primed. Starting to understand the history of the front end. Pretty sure this bug was hit in the front right a really long time ago based on the fact that the passenger side front fender is really old, but certainly not original. From my stand point that's good news though because this car lived most of it's life after that so she must have...

1965 VW Beetle for Sale - BOBS65 #1
Great review. I just purchased a new Land Cruiser w/Premium Package. I also have a 2016 Porsche 911 (991.1) Black Edition. This new Land Cruiser is absolutely outstanding. It is a big upgrade over the outgoing Land Cruiser L200. The styling of this new model is second to none. I really like the engine. It is very quick and tows substantial weight. The built quality is outstanding and the interior is very upscale and well put together. If you review this new Land Cruiser on a rack, it is very well built. It has a 5,000 plus pound dry weight. The off-road options are not scene in any other SUV. Toyota truly did an outstanding job with this new model.
I love mine. I have the mid trim level with premium package. Overall great comfortable ride especially when compared to my Jeep Wrangler. Time will tell how well the engine holds up.
I've had my white w/ premium package for about almost two months. I thought the engine was going to be what I liked the least about it but it's actually white I like the most. It is a tech-marvel no kidding. I think it's the future no doubt.
What’s your take on cabin noise insulation? I hear the vehicle is quite loud on the highway?
It's not something I have noticed, so I would say it's NOT loud. A noisy cabin does bother me so I think I would have noticed, but I will take a closer listen next time I am out and give a better update.
@@mostlycars7586 Thanks! My understanding is the GX has acoustic glass and unfortunately the LC does not.
@@JJS432 We also own a Lexus GX. Great car and I was hoping to check that out as well, but they also have a year-out waiting list. I think anyone looking to get on a Land Cruiser waiting list should do the same for the Lexus GX. I think the GX has a V6 and the pricing I have seen is not much different than the LC.
@@mostlycars7586 Hm it seems to be easier to get here in Canada. Waitlist is not as long. I am waiting to see the cost and efficiency on the GX550h. It’s already on the market in other countries however North America will be early next year.
Is it worth taking a loan out?? I really want this car
Yeah car loans suck, but honestly, I think there is good value in this car at 65k on the sticker. If I compare this to what else is out there for this price, I think it's great. This is much cheaper than past Land Cruisers. The 2020 version was going for around 90k. At 65k I expected it to be cheaped out, but I don't feel that.
@@lesmokealotesquair8288 The vast majority of Land Cruiser buyers don’t take loans for them. This is what makes the Land Cruiser truly a unique vehicle. They are known for their discrepancy. The big loans and high flash are typically the Range Rover / Mercedes / etc. crowd.
How did you put the spring back on the gas pedal ?🥺
good question. I decided that all that spring does is keep the pedal hinge rod in place. It fits in that recess in the rod. The spring action for the pedal is provided by the spring on the carb. I know it seems like that piece should somehow provide some return force to the pedal, but I really don't think it does. i've been driving my car for a couple years now with it just around the rod and not even attached to the pedal and it's fine. Like I said, I think it just keeps the rod in place.
Thank you for real life driving and showcasing snow drive conditions/performance.
Do you think it’ll do well in icy snow? Or would it give able to go up a steep hill in non-plowed streets?
We live in Colorado at 9,000 feet on a pretty steep hill. We have used Blizak tires the last 2 years. It does great.
very nice
Hi, I have a GLC43 as well MY2020. Does this lower the car more than the default factory Sport+ setting?
yes it does. be sure to get a new alignment if you do this.
You kind of 💩 on the car. I have a 2022 GLA45 and it is awesome. I moved from a Golf R. The GLA45 is only 6 inches longer. It is more of a premium hot hatch for the discerning adult.
Anyone know how to disable the HORN after hitting the lock button twice? Not the "beeps" that can be disabled, the horn. That sucka is loud! Thanks for the snow video. Just bought a 2024 CX-30 Select Sport. I live in the Boston area. We get some snow too. Thanks!
lol I know what you mean. That frigging lock confirmation beep is loud. I have looked through all the settings and have not been able to find a way to change the volume of that. Sorry. Enjoy the new car. Congratulations on that.
@@mostlycars7586 thank you for the response! Glad I'm not alone. Gotta look into winter tires but other than that I really like my Mazda. 🤙
Mine honked like that at the dealer but I asked them to turn it off and now it only has the quiet chime. I believe you can enable/disable horn honk on door lock by holding the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob together for 3 seconds
@@Jeffrey_Wong I'll give it a try. Any suggestions on the seat belt chime? If driving with it off.
Little late. If you go on The Samba there is a guy in there that adds FM and Blue Tooth to old Vw radios.
Huge progress!!
Almost every bug I see has the same rot in the same spots, no matter where they come from. I even see bugs from California, Arizona and even Mexico and all have the same problem areas. I have one from PA. same thing LOL.
Yeah and after almost 60 years so much of this car is still rust free.
I say the same thing. How can so many spots that rust on other cars be perfect on a VW. I guess they have there weak points.@@mostlycars7586

This is the best video I’ve seen about the cx30! How is it without fog lights? That’s one of my big concerns.
Thanks! Sorry I can't comment on the fog lights. I don't think I have ever needed them. I can say that the CX-30 does have tracking headlights though. If you turn left for example, the headlights shift to the left a bit to better illuminate where you are going. Unrelated to your question, but maybe something of interest.
Will that make it faster?
it improves handling
After doing tons of new car research on-line I had settled on a Toyota RAV-4 and went to the dealership for a test drive. Luckily for me the sales person at the Toyota dealership was a jerk and control freak; I walked away immediately after the test drive. On the way home I passed the Mazda dealership and stopped by because I had ran across the CX-30 and -50 during my research. At this dealership I was treated with respect, drove both models and decided on the -50 just because of the trunk space (the -30 would not hold my golf clubs without folding down the rear seat). I've had it a week now and the more I drive it, the more I like it; the CX-50 has brought back the fun in driving. If you are in the market, you owe it to yourself to stop by a Mazda dealership and take one for a spin. I bought the non-turbo version and believe me this car is nimble enough without it. I think the AWD system makes it so because I have experienced engine lag on acceleration with other non AWD 4 cyl. vehicles. Remember the old Mazda commercials? Zoom zoom is correct!
Now that’s the proper way to do a chrome delete on the Mercedes door handle
Please mazda cx30 2024 or nissan rogue ? 1 person , 40 km daily communicate, use for personal
CX-30, hands down.
I'm in the same situation, I have a Sapphire 1 that I hooked up to a six volt battery and it just makes a ticking noise through the speaker, no reception. From what I researched, the capacitors go bad over time. not sure I want to spend the time and money troubleshooting and restoring it. I'll probably just keep it in the car for looks and hook up a separate Bluetooth speaker under the dash. You might want to hook yours up to a 6 volt battery and see what it does, It might work. There should be two black power wires coming from the radio. One should have a plastic fuse case, that one is radio power. The second black wire is power to the light bulb. Hook your negative battery wire to the mounting bracket on the back, that's the ground. Then there should be the duel speaker wire also. Good luck!
thanks I think I'm with you. I have another beetle that I did put a Bluetooth only amp in. I got the amp from trauma audio out of Florida and it's amazing. I just have a toggle switch on the dash that turns the amp on, but it's hidden and it just functions Bluetooth from the phone.
Thanks. I probably agree. Would be cool to keep it. Can always add a hidden blue tooth amp.
Actually, those old AM factory radios are better than you may think. Personally I'd do some research before throwing it out. Just my thoughts. Anyone can toss a new one in, but to actually have an original restored one is rarer. 🐾🐕🐶
Good controlled slide in snow-- !!! PERFECT.
THANK YOU--- this is something I wanted to see-- a REAL road drive in snow--- not a "scientific test" under controlled conditions... THANKS AGAIN.
Do you know where i can get a rear cheap window and a speedometer
cheap is probably going to have to be used. you're just going to have to hunt. google, eBay, craigslist and junk yards. Good luck.
@mostlycars7586 ty and I will check around
There is a process for setting the wipers in the service position. It's a bit involved and is not in the owner's manual but can be easily found on line.
Looks great to me. Wish I could find one in this condition
How bad is it 13:24 when snow gets around the headlights? Because of the chrome alloy snow kinda gets stuck in there and it stays there.
I had a 65 for nine years. I had to sell it because of changes in my personal life, but the good (and bad) memories stick for ever. I think with this 65 you have a good base for restoration. Good luck, I am curious about what it is going to be like.
Good heater channels is amazing. One big job that no one looks forward to.
Looks great! I loved my 65
Cool cuz!! Love the really old bugs with those classic headlights
Can you put Snow Cables on the AWD CX30? Have you?
I have never run cables or chains. I am guessing it would just be a clearance question. In my opinion, there does look like there is enough clearance but don't hold me to that.
Got my first CX-30 AWD not long ago and awaiting my first winter with it. Tires were just replaced by the dealer before I bought it.I live in Maine and usually don't run winter tires with AWD. I have a 65 mile (round trip) commute to work mostly highway. Luckily we're slow in the winter and if I have the PTO I just avoid super snowy days, not worth it because quite frankly the times really suck right now and tires for winter aren't affordable atm.
I live in the very top of Michigan up by the Canadian border. I drive a 2020 Subaru Forester and just put the Cross Climate 2's on. It's 11/19/2023 today and although we have had snow, it's melted off pretty quickly. I'm looking forward to testing these out on actual snow but I can tell already these things grip the road like crazy. I put these tires on as a replacement for some regular all season tires that had plenty of life left (about 60%) and I did go from 35.5 mpg average down to 31.5 mpg average but I'm okay with that as I know it's the grip on these tires that causes the less fuel economy. We have a TON of wild life up here and not a day goes by where we aren't dodging animals 3-4x per trip into town, so the extra $160 per year in fuel is worth the extra safety of these tires which should maneuver and stop much better and faster.
Did you get the 1.5 inch LIFT (factory lift)?? It looks a tad higher. I want to get a CX-50 premium and buy the wheels and lift separately and have them installed... (for more of the options the premium has that the meridian doesn't). I've seen this tested on offroad AND deep wet snow that we get- and it does GREAT.... I like the stiff ride and everything else about it. THANK YOU for your list of what the CX-30 DOESN"T have-- I appreciate tthat-- because I was thinking of one of them too... now it's CX-50 ONLY.. and I think I'll do the UPPER package and make it meridian on my own ..
No we did not add a lift and I don't think the Meridian Edition sits any higher than the standard edition. I think you have a good plan. The Meridian is not as 'nice' as our cx-30 premium, but it is absolutely the choice for any kind of off-roading at all. I found this as well on topspeed.com... "Unlike the Turbo Premium Plus trim of my initial CX-50 test, this Meridian Edition is a couple of rungs down the trim ladder so while this one has the panoramic roof, driver’s seat memory settings, a height-adjustable passenger’s seat, and adaptive cruise control it forgoes ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, navigation, the Bose 12-speaker sound system, and satellite radio."
@@mostlycars7586 THANKS- great info. ONE question you might be able to answer-- I want the PREMIUM or whatever it's called- but I DO NOT want the Panoramic roof- that's just a leak waiting to happen and I really just don't like them.. can I get one WITHOUT it???
@@davidwayne9982 Sorry, not sure. I did some googling but can't really find anything definitive.
@davidwayne9982 sadly, the model below the preferred has no roof... and its got some tech and 17 inch wheels. It also has the naturally aspirated 187hp non turbo engine. It is not super loaded but it has pwr windows locks, leatherette seats, a powered front driver seat(no memory seat and manual front passenger seat), heated seats, wireless apple carplay/android auto, and backup camera, and navigation with the dealer SD card ($450).
@@gailenrique2804 If by NO ROOF you mean NO panoramic roof? IF that's the case THAT is the one I want- I hate those stupid panoramic roofs-- they're LEAKS waiting to happen- and usually doesn't take long.. and i LIKE the 17" wheels-- those 20" ones look like something a retard monkey would pick- oversized for the car and a rubber band wrapped around them-- which RUINS the ride (people complaining about the ride- that's why ding dongs..)
The CX-50 meridian comes with Falcon Wild Peaks -- but if I upgrade it to AT.s that should suffice in WET/icy snow we have here-- right?? (the forecast is for a LOT more wet/snow ths year..)
We actually just bought a Meridian as well. I love it. As far as tires go, if it's not a full snow tire like Blizzak, I go BFG All Terrain KO2. Is that what you mean? I haven't read up on the Falcon yet but It has a great looking tread pattern.
@@mostlycars7586 YES EXACTLY!!!!
THANKS--- I"m getting a CX-50 but it's built on the CX-30 platform... so this will be a good inditation of it's action in snow-- and I need one. No one has done an actual snow drive test of CX-50 on YT - at least not yet..
What have you done to the car other than dp?
RENNTech Tune, MST Air Intake and it came with Sport Exhaust
No check engine light without a tune ?
Check engine light is from downpipes. No light with just RennTech tune.
Make sure when you replace the assembly that you also replace the brake pedal push rod pin LOCK TAB. Mine broke yesterday while driving at some point. But the pin fell out, and I lost all brakes. Luckily, I was only going slow when it happened. I used my hand brake.
CX-30 AWD is really the BEST low cost SUV and MPV you can buy....BRAVO MAZDA 😊
33,000 miles on this car now. Still great. Zero issues.
