2024 Sea Doo GTR X 300 RS Review and Top Speed Test
Meet one of the craziest supercharged Jet Skis to be launched in years.
The 2024 Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 has one of the most powerful engines ever fitted to a mid-size ski.
With this new model Sea-Doo has bridged the gap between the GTR 230 - the entry point into its supercharged range - and the flagship RXP-X 325.
In this video we will go through Australian and US pricing, all the key features, tell you what it’s like to ride - and do acceleration and top speed tests using precision VBox timing equipment.
We tested the 2024 Sea-Doo GTR-X 300 RS in a range of conditions in Sydney Australia over two weekends in early 2024.

    I have one it does not like the rough water as much as my rxtx 300 but it is a blast to ride and throw around or literally jump right out the water and the big plus.... no bow hunting!!

      @WatercraftZone 4 дня назад

      Thanks for your feedback. We totally agree the GTR-X is a huge amount of fun (and really hope the next-generation ST3 hull addresses the ‘bow hunt’ of the current model). That said, we are a little bit jealous of your two ski garage. Nice one!

  • @Mach-N-Roll
    @Mach-N-Roll 4 дня назад

    Thanks for all the performance data, exactly what I want to see. Big fan of the GTR-X. The TX is too big and the PX is a little more closed course racer than I’d like. Seems this hull has quite a bit of drag though as top speeds seem to be under 70mph even with SCOM’s. Guess if I want an 80+mph ski it’ll have to be one of the 325 offerings.

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone 4 дня назад

      Thank for the note. As you can appreciate it takes a lot of effort to collect that data so we are grateful for your feedback. As we say in the video, we know some people get higher speeds (and sometimes lower) but we are aiming to deliver a guide on how various skis compare. Same rider. Same stretch of water. And sometimes we do multiple craft in one day for even closer consistency. All that said, we reckon even the slowest skis are still a huge amount of fun. And we’re quite happy with the fastest FACTORY delivered ski topping out about 120kmh. We don’t really want to go too much faster than that :)) Kudos to anyone who wants to travel in excess of that speed. Thanks again for stopping by and leaving a note!

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone 6 дней назад

      Thanks for the feedback. Yeah they’re both pretty thirsty these days. Especially as newer craft have gotten heavier and more powerful over the years. As it stands, though, you’re better off on the SVHO because the new 1.9 naturally aspirated uses just as much fuel but without the SVHO power or acceleration. Crazy times. Happy riding and thanks for leaving a note.

    launch control is for wankers who dont know how to drag race. there are plenty of rough water runs u dont want bow full tilt up.

  • @AveryClement
    @AveryClement 8 дней назад

    If you don't use launch control and just put the trim all the way down and slowly raise it as you speed up you will out perform the launch control 100% of the time and this works for every ski no matter the brand

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone 8 дней назад

      Thanks for the note. We use launch control on each ski we test (when available) purely for consistency and to explore what the manufacturer has deemed best. Otherwise if we adjust trim on the fly, it comes down to technique, which could vary from craft to craft and from test to test.

    What do you think is best for salt water yamaha fx svho or see doo rxp-x 325

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone 9 дней назад

      Both are fine in salt water it really depends on your riding style. If you prefer to sit (even through chop) then the Sea-Doo RXP-X 325 would be the go, but if you want the option of standing or crouching (to protect your back) then the Yamaha FX SVHO has a better riding position for that. Hope this helps!

      @@WatercraftZone what i really wanted to say is this. I am originally a yamaha fan but but performance plays a huge role in my riding experience so i am thinking of getting a see doo i am looking for smth that goes 72 mph or more but i am afraid see doo will give problems in salt water as yamaha is known for more reliable jet-skis my yamaha fx svho limited can berry squeeze 67 mph

    • @AveryClement
      @AveryClement 8 дней назад

      @Baltintroshku the best ski if you're looking for performance is 100% the rxpx325. If you get a SCOM unit for 200 bucks some people have seen over 80mph. I do beat the stock 325 on my modified 300 but the launches are pretty similar and I pull away hard at 30 ish mph. It's the only ski I've ever raced that's been able to hang with me off the launch. Never lost to a yamaha. If you like launching then seadoo all day because the yamahas have a tendency to cavitate.

By our calculations it could cover 120km on a single tank (with some to spare) but best to try it yourself first on a shorter journey. Dear Kawasaki, Please, I’m begging you. Fix the belt tensioner setup. It’s a great design, minus the fact that the bushing should be a stainless bearing, the idler pulley has no business being anything but stainless steel, and the tensioner shock needs to have proper sealed bushings that don’t seize. This has been an issue since its design that hasn’t changed since 2011. I get it, parts cost money but we aren’t talking a lot here. Fortunately we were able to include a preview of the 2025 Kawasaki Ultra 310 range colours before this video went live. Thanks again for the note. It’s always appreciated!

      Fair point. There are plenty in stock in Australia but we suspect inventory might be running low in the US, which is perhaps why Kawasaki unveiled the 2025 colour schemes a few months ago.

      Thanks for the note. It's heavy, thirsty, the bow storage is small and narrow, and the handlebars need to come up a bit further. Plus flushing it twice (engine and intercooler) and fogging the supercharger afterwards are more complex than flushing a Sea-Doo or Yamaha after a ride. But the Kawasaki Ultra 310 crushes chop with ease and the supercharger sounds awesome.

    It’s funny how people think riding jet skis is an extreme sport.

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone 23 дня назад

      Lol. Only if you fall off. Most riders enjoy the sport for leisure and to have a nice day on the water. Some ride long distances in the ocean, others do stunts on stand-up skis. And on some of the smaller skis such as the Sea-Doo Spark Trixx and Yamaha JetBlaster, it could go either way. You can ride them for fun, or challenge yourself and the craft and fall off with a smile on your face countless times. Some of the best days we’ve had on the water have been with the two of the cheapest craft (Spark and JetBlaster) because they are small and nimble they feel like an extension of your body. Remember, any day on the water is a good day.

    Good tip on the windshield rubbing. Just picked up my new 2023 Explorer Pro. They bought so many they had leftovers... and so Sea Doo is offering zero percent financing on it. I couldnt resist when listed below MSRP and no fees. Buddy got the Fish Pro Trophy and think he might be a little jealous. I can always add the pop up seat and cooler it comes with.

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone 26 дней назад

      Hey thanks for the note. Glad you’re loving the new Sea-Doo Explorer. It’s a great ski, especially the functionality and the long list of standard equipment. Some old school Jet Ski riders might not understand the windshield, but it’s definitely an asset on cold winter rides that’s for sure. And a lot of Fish Pro riders are adding them to their ski. We owned a Trophy with the pop up swivel seat, but honestly we didn’t use it much other than filming it. But for anyone fishing on a calm lake or river, the seat is a no brainer for long days on the water. Thanks for the note and congratulations again on your new ski.

      Thanks for the note. We see where you’re coming from but it’s also a very practical design. Great hull, great sponsons, better storage, and a faster engine. Also worth noting this was a retro colour scheme. Later year models used more modern colours for the Yamaha Jet Blaster.

    • @gunnerneikoify
      @gunnerneikoify 28 дней назад

      @WatercraftZone Couldn't agree more. It's not the color scheme of the Blaster, it's the physical shape of it. Reminds me of those now considered, "vintage" late 80s early 90s ski's. I just can't get over it.

    I'm ignorant so forgive me. Is there any way that the fundamental nature of the engine may be changing on these machines as technology advances? Meaning, I'm trying to self-justify getting one of these versus a smaller boat. But when the internet tells me I should be grateful for 300 hours in the ski, and that a 3,000 hour life is realistic in a small outboard engine...

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone 29 дней назад

      As with anything on the water, regular maintenance is key. Some rental, rescue and tour guide skis clock up more than 700 hours, but they are well maintained throughout their life. Conversely, a low hour used ski could be problematic if it wasn’t flushed after going in salt water, and it’s just been sitting in a garage for ages afterwards. Most regular jet ski users clock between 50 and 100 hours over a few years. But I know some people who have clocked up 200 hours within a couple of years. But they either service the ski themselves or get it done regularly. Hope this helps.

    6:17 This sucks in simple riding in the winter months. Chose my Yamaha because of the ability to re-route the hot water outlet to the footwell and tee off a hose so that we can flush our wetsuits with hot water. Of course you're going to get wet on a ski, but our older models didn't absolutely dump over the front end. Wish Yamaha would fix this, function needs to be over fashion. SMH

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone Месяц назад

      Thanks for the note. Since 2022 the FX HO has had a deeper cut in the ride plate to try to bring up the nose, even in a neutral trim position. But the FX is still a very wet ride versus the Sea-Doo ST3 hull. The trade-off though is that the Yamaha carves better through chop and the Sea-Doo nose gets pushed around more. If you want a dry (ish) ride try the Sea-Doo but it’s better suited to flat-water riding. Thanks for the feedback. Your experience will hopefully help others.

    Seeing the R on the reverse lever is that indicating it’s only for reverse or is it safe to deploy as a brake going wide open? Or does it even work going at full throttle?

    • @WatercraftZone
      @WatercraftZone Месяц назад

      Great question. We received the following response from our Kawasaki expert: The patent for the new Kawasaki Ultra reverse trigger design says when the reverse trigger is activated it immediately checks the vessel’s GPS speed. Reverse will only be applied gradually if the vessel is at speed, washing off minimal speed so as to not send the rider over the handlebars. Once the vessel speed decreases to a modest level, activation of the reverse trigger will lower the bucket further, to create more of a slowing effect. The slower the vessel speed, the lower the rear bucket drops. It is marketed as a KSRD ‘smart reverse with deceleration’. It’s initially very gradual. Meantime back to our experience. Sea-Doo craft have a more aggressive reverse trigger (even at speed) whereas Yamaha’s reverse trigger is not as aggressive as Sea-Doo. Hope this helps! Thanks for the question.
