This is a great compromise that takes advantage of game events but makes story sense, good work. Yeah, as cool as it is, i dont think Luthor is the man to explore the complexity of administrative government. Maybe his greek children will have more of an interest in it, it would make sense for any of them to lean that way

I think a really cool concept would be that each episode you switch between your main characters, so one episode you play as luthor and the next episode as Andrew. This way it gives you the ability to shape both stories whilst also giving the AI room to advance each characters story too.

My god thats some insane monthly gold loss. But yeah having the region get divided into many different pieces makes the most sense since so many different groups participated in the fight.

I enjoy the concept of a mercenary band taking over the city of Constantinople and the dardanelles straight, I hope they continue to rule it as basically a city state. This would be kinda like if a rogue band of mercenaries just decided to take over and rule Singapore, love it.

Once again you managed to take a weird, game-y situation and turn it into something that makes perfect narrative sense. Bravo! Without any legitimate authority, _of course_ the region is going to devolve into a free-for-all of Latin warlords and Greek rump states. Luther's alliances with opportunistic trade republics and his excommunication really help sell the fact that he is seen as a fully illegitimate usurper-there is little hope Manuel is going to be able to hold on to Constantinople, unless Luther is able to build him a more stable power base. Honestly, my money is on the Sultanate of Rûm taking over, since there is no unified power to stop them.

Great episode. It's amazing how close it is to real history! I think Luthor wouldn't want to stay Emperor, he would consolidate power so that Manuel (turned back to Greek and Orthodox) can rule when he's older. Skirts is made part of the Greek nobility in the process. Luthor and Andrew and any Saxon that wants to cam then return home to claim his rightful lands

this idea will take a a lot of finagling in the game, but what if Luther raises a giant host with his new found power, abandons his thrown on the mediterranean, and marches north to reclaim his home lands?

Hilarious turn of events. I can't believe that the King of Hungary or the other royal and noble crusaders would crown a mercenary as Emperor. But I like the idea that Luther was admired by the other mercenaries and men-at-arms who fought against Byzantium. So when all of these soldiers were denied their reward, Luther led them to sack Constantinople. Afterwards Luther's legion proclaimed their victorious leader Emperor, as often happened in ancient Rome. For sure, Kaiser Luther's position is pretty weak, because the Greek people certainly hate him for sacking Constantinople, and even the Catholic monarchs in the West see him as a usurper. But I think that a man like Luther would not care about their opinion. Maybe he will found a whole empire of mercenaries and other outcasts!

is there any mod that enables you to create rivals, friends, lovers etc before starting the game or you did it through console and files

I feel the best story canon version is to go back and install a daughter on the throne, maybe force an awesome marriage to explain it away, while Luther continues his life as a sellsword. He knows he's not prepared to run an important and large country surrounded by enemies and peopled by foreigners. Not prepared tempermentally, militarily, monetarily, no friends and allies... But the shot at glory, at writing history, to put a family member in that position, is hard to pass up, and if they die, well better her than me, right?

It really ain't that crazy, Bohemond basically did the same thing, he hijacked the first crusade to elevate himslef quite a bit (albeit to a far lesser degree than this) by proving himself the most brave and beloved commander of the rank and file. It is likely Bela simply lost control of the situation once money and greed took over the troops expecting to be paid, with Luthor seizing the moment. Quite brilliant actually.

I honestly think that Luthor should try to stay in charge, and the empire will crumble around him, as a cruel man who only knew his small one tent kingdom and the way of the sword is woefully underprepared to be an emperor. And though Andrew has been slowly shaped in his father's image, Skirt's children can still escape! I would love to see a 2nd season of the younger siblings in an adventure's party together, leaving behind the inevitable destruction of their father's folly.

The promises of glory and gold were all lies by the false Basilissa failed to give what was owed. The soldiers and less nobles and knights were furious and they found a leader for their anger and vengeance in the man who had led his own company of warriors seeking glory and wealth like any other. The Hungarian armies who were crucial in the fall of this jewel of the East marched home to defend from further German and Bohemian incursions from the HRE, as such they were unable to stop the tide of anger and fury that led to the desolation that came to the capital of Eastern Rome. Constantinople burned in the fury of the Latins and in that fury Luthar took the helm and grasped for the greatest power he could have ever wished for. He was thus made the Latin Emperor as the Byzantine empire collapsed in flames and blood into bickering states all seeking their own power and influence as the civil war that enabled the conquest of the Byzantines from the Latins still cut through Byzantine society. The greeks were bloodied and fell upon their own corpses to make realms from the ashes. Luthar now finds himself in the crux of potential greatness for he could dominate all and grant his family a prize greater than his lowely home or does the open road call once more for the aged warrior where vengeance drives him more than a will for power? Is Luthar a dark hand grasping at the throat of a fallen empire to take its final golden breath or is he still a minor Saxon noble who's eye burns bright in with anger for his rightful place back at his German home where he can finally rest? We shall see as the fires still burn in the golden city of the emperors.

This ones tough, I don't know that Luther would be cut out to run a Latin "Empire" in Constantinople or want to, the HRE I could see that more confidently for him in comparison. The sacking of the city and its rulers makes sense I would assume it wasn't just the black company involved, Luther was just the only leader able to take control and somewhat unite them, with many of the crusaders joining him out of outrage. The land in Hungry doesn't make sense I will say. But as for him ruling I'm not sure, I could also see him giving it off to one of his kids and returning to mercenary work, maybe the 2nd son since I don't see Luthor as the type to put a daughter in power, at least not in a tense situation like this, however I'm just not sure how Andrew would react if he's not the one to get it, its unclear how ambitious he is but one of the half Greek children do make the most sense to inherit.

I did NOT expect that, in a way Skirts got her revenge on the byzantines. Sadly she chose other men over Luther, and I could see her trying to sway her way into the bed of another member of the company, a lesser known knight. Being a Kaiser for LUTHER doesn't make sense, but this doesn't mean he wouldn't want the Rabe clan to hold it, Manuel could hold the lands, if only Rudolf lived, retires as a warrior and becomes the regent of Luthers son. Andrew believes in regaining ancestral lands, bringing honour back to his family name. Being seen with the respect he's never received as the bastsrd child of a ruthless mercenary. I also love the idea of Ditmar doing anything to regain the respect of Luther, an outcast in the group of outcasts he would do anything for that feeling of belonging again. Also, Luther isn't a man to sleep alone. he's rapidly replace the warmth of Skirts

What I would do is give the Empire to the Eldest Daughter and have her be a “Regent” until Manuel becomes of age. Luther has no real care for his children with Skirts and I would definitely believe he would take everything he could and leave them to pick up the pieces. Remember he’s a bastard of a human and won’t let his vengeance die.

It seems clear the Venetians vetoed Bela and Luther was the compromise candidate who was widely popular among the troops. Technically the Venetian territories would also be vassals in name only but ck3 can't do multiple lieges yet. The Byzantines would also likely fracture into rival empires as otl. On moving forward I see Luther prepping his son Manuel to takeover while he goes back to take his ancestral lands for a quieter retirement. The remnant Black Company probably becomes an imperial guard with Luther taking some old Ravens and Crows with him.

I mean, only a fool would want a tiny piece of German land over the most powerful city in the entire world. Luther wants that power and his reward for doing most of the heavy lifting in the crusade.

Have one of your kids take the throne! The headcannon could be they were a good "compromise" emperor, since they were greek but also christian, well travelled, spoke multiple languages and (unlike most nobles) would not be tangled up in webs of alliances. For the crusaders that dont really care for queen eustathia and just want to plunder Byzantium, the Black Company is what they chose to back. Knowing they have no interest in the face of constantinople or the byzantines.
