heyy millie, last year I had really bad acne because of some medication I was taking. your account and tipps have helped me soo much, my skin cleared up so well. however, the last few months I have been noticing some new breakouts that I can’t understand (I have been using the same skin care routine as always and didn’t try anything new). I wanted to order the protein powder and the mango greens that you recommended. sadly, I can’t do that because I live in Germany and shipping the products here would be too pricey. I was wondering if you have ideas for alternatives that I could be buying here. i was researching for myself but I’m really scared to break out more because of the wrong products I hope you see my message Lots of Love and thanks 🎀

Take note📝 (open me for explanations) 1. fragranced laundry detergent If you use fragrance free skincare why are you sleeping on fragrance for 8 hours a day! It’s irritating (especially on breakouts)💤 2. 1+ new skincare product There is always a chance you’re allergic to an ingredient in a product, or your skin breaks out from it. If you’re using more than 1 new product, you won’t know which product the reaction was from. Only introduce 1 new products every 2-3 weeks.🧴 3. irregular sleep schedule sleep impacts your hormones SO MUCH. Imbalances of certain hormones (such as elevated testosterone) can overstimulate oil glands, leading to breakouts.💤 Sleep also influences cortisol (stress) levels, which when chronically elevated, causes inflammation. 4. using micellar water after cleansing Micellar water contains surfactants that can break you out when left on your skin, if you use it, make sure you cleanse afterwards.🫧 5. not pooping daily To get rid of excess hormones/toxins (which hugely affect acne), you have to be pooping 1-3x a day. And to do this you NEED fibre. I eat lots of fruit & veggies, but I also have the @freesoul greens every morning for extra fibre🥦 (code lifewithmils gives the best price) I always get my nutrients through food first (rather than supplements), but these help my skin & hormones to stay more consistent. 6. washing hair after cleansing Getting shampoo or conditioner (especially if it’s pore clogging), around your hairline & on your body and not cleansing it off is a sure way to break out!💆🏼‍♀️ 7. using salicylic acid daily Using exfoliants more than 3x a week can compromise your skin barrier, leading to bad bacteria entering your skin, and more breakouts forming. Your skin barrier health is crucial🧼 8. stressing over your skin Super elevated cortisol increases the inflammation in the body (acne is an inflammatory condition therefore can worsen)🧘🏼‍♀️ acne healing guides are always at www.lifewithmils.com if you need some extra support on your skin healing journey💗

I’m sorry but I have two questions. Do you think you can make a video of skincare for acne combination skin? Also Any time I try to use pimple patches they don’t work unless I pop the pimple and then put in on, but I feel like that is what causes my pimples to scar. Also Sometimes I pop them and put a pimple patch on but it doesn’t get everything out and it just reforms. Sorry for taking time out of your day and asking a lot of questions I’ve been doing that a lot😭

take note📝 (hold down to read) 1. salicylic acid usage using a salicylic acid cleanser daily is likely to damage your skin barrier (which protects your skin from bad bacteria coming in), and can result in more breakouts 2. acne comes from inflammation /imbalances It’s important to know that acne is NOT normal (yes it’s common), but it’s your bodies way of telling you something’s up. Imbalances examples: gut dysbiosis, oestrogen dominance, high testosterone etc. All of these imbalances can also lead to inflammation. Acne is an inflammatory condition which is why I prioritise anti inflammatory and antioxidant rich foods (5.) 3. pore cloggers if you suffer with acne you likely also have hyper retention keratosis - aka your skin cells don’t shed as fast as they should, so your skin gets clogged more easily. so pore cloggers MUST be avoided - i only share non comedogenic products with you guys! 4. skin picking It causes scars (deep ones too), and it’s not great for your body image and the way you feel about yourself. Just patch up your breakouts with a pimple patch and head to bed - you’re beautiful don’t analyse yourself 5. antioxidant rich/ anti inflammatory food see point 2 6. supplements & herbal teas for acne supplements: I’ve taken the @freesoul greens & vegan protein blend for a whole year now (crazy), and I’ve seen a huge improvement in the regularity of my cycle (the protein blend has hormone balancing ingredients such as Peruvian maca). I’ve recently introduced the “wake” mushroom coffee and so far so good! Functional mushrooms are incredible for your gut health, brain health & hormones and with more mushrooms and less coffee in the blend, you get all of the alertness of a coffee without the afternoon crash & jitters☕️ code LIFEWITHMILS gets you ££ off💗 7. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL ^enough said seriously though, I know acne is tough, I’ve been there (a lot). And you are just as much of a beautiful human with or without perfect skin, don’t put your life on hold until it’s clear - love you acne healing guides are at www.lifewithmils.com if you need some extra support on your skin healing journey 💗

Retinoid and benzoyl peroxide is not an unusual skincare combination and is used together in formulations often as well as recommended as treatment by dermatologists at times for acne. Epiduo is a popular example. Its also one of the combos that may be formulated for you when using online dermatology subscription services such as dermatica.

  • @LifeWithMils

    1. STRESS & SLEEP are crucial💤 Even if I am eating a nutritious diet & avoiding acne triggers, if i am stressed or sleeping badly, I WILL break out. (This is because cortisol (stress) is a primary hormone & can cause inflammation & hormonal imbalances when elevated). 2. there are PREVENTABLE breakouts🫧 Ways to prevent breakouts: silk pillow cases (less bacteria), silk hair bonnet (hair products don’t transfer), cleanse after washing hair (no conditioner to clog pores), wash your hands very regularly, use hypochlorus acid to kill bacteria & use a fragrance free detergent!! 🦠 *If you use fragrance free skincare WHY are you sleeping on fragrance for 8 hours a day!* 3. Up your PROTEIN!🫘 20-30g of protein in EVERY meal is essential. Protein regulates your blood sugars (which when unregulated can cause breakouts). My protein sources are: salmon, chickpeas/lentils, chicken, beef - all organic/wild caught if possible. And every morning I have the @freesoul vegan protein blend (code lifewithmils gives discount)⭐️ *It’s crucial for me to have an acne-safe protein powder in my diet as I find it super hard to get 20g protein at breakfast otherwise (it also helps to balance hormones so it’s a win win for me) 4. your skincare & makeup is COMEDOGENIC!!!💄 Switching to non comedogenic skincare/makeup made the world of difference to my skin. If you have acne prone skin you probably suffer from “hyper retention keratosis” - our pores are extra prone to getting clogged, hence it’s super helpful to avoid cloggers. I ONLY share non-comedogenic skincare & makeup on my platforms to make it easier for you guys. 5. find your HERBS🪴 Herbal medicine can be INCREDIBLE for acne, for example: dandelion root promotes detoxification of estrogen, spearmint lowers testosterone levels, nettle is anti inflammatory etc etc. I’ve always used functional mushrooms in my diet as they’re anti-inflammatory, improve gut & brain health, focus etc. I use the @freesoul wake (mushroom coffee) to get functional mushrooms into my diet☕️ Share your own tips in the comments!💗
