How To Reline an End Dump, Transfer Box or Dump Truck (Liner Installation) Welding Tips and Tricks!
This year my shop slowed down .. I ended up joining a friend's part time who started after me ... Advertising and location has the biggest impact on my situation . Northern Illinois as well ..
This has been my experience as well ...if u listen to his suggestions you will save thousands
Can u give away a bobcat miller
Insurance is overrated 😂nah but really for someone like me with a gang of kids ect starting a business is out of the question these days 9to5 with a good union wage is the way to go for me but you know I’m always supporting Washburn fab co 🫡
haha
That's sick bro.
Thanks brotha
I have a awesome idea I want to do when I build my rock crawler recovery truck. I want to build bed boxes and weld in a piece of square receiver tube in the center of the two drawers so I can keep a small vice and a pipe vice maby a small grinder for trail repairs that can mount with a hitch pin and be stored in a drawer.
@@KnowlesFamilyGarage that would be sweet
what gas are you using? I'm using the same gun on the same machine with the same type of wire and it will not work no matter what i do.
Answering a comment about welding aluminum with a spool gun #shorts
My grandpa. Breaks up his old hard Wheels with a hammer and then throws him in his tumbler for media
Not a bad idea at all
Sup bro! Hey are repairs the majority or your work? Or do you do work for local companies and stuff? Just curious
Well rn were slow af. Made a video on it. But we definitely prefer new custom fab over repairs
Just found your channel keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
What I found in all manufacturing industries wielding included- Its all about offering the most value and making the biggest impact. Learning new processes and finding ways to do a 4 week project in 2 weeks. When you follow this strategy the people you work for will love getting the product faster and you get too add in more jobs annually as a business owner. Remember- The quality of life you life today in America is from manufacturing, not custom jobs.
custom wielding does not make big money. Production or manufacturing large counts of the same product makes the big money long term. Ideas of service include truss manufacturing, fencing or gates, trailers and anything that's popular
I’m a hobby welder but full time mechanic on my families equipment rental fleet -scissors, booms, forks, mini dirt work,,,, and all the trades we rent to are slow except massive projects that have been in the works for years
This is in Boise Idaho, Californians second home 😂
Yeah I believe it lol
I’d use it on my homestead and teach my brother in law how to weld with it.
I’m freaking slammed! I’m behind, can’t keep up but keeping up. Chicago summertime, slammed. Market you ass off, flyers, deals for new customers, take pictures, knock on doors. Learn to communicate accurately. Educate your customers. Good luck!
Good to hear!
I grew up in the NW burbs, in TX now slammed as well. What kinda work are you doing up there? I know the unions have most of the industrial work locked down. You doing custom stuff?
@@cjgibbons5850 yes all custom stuff.
Slow downs must be area dependant because My nephew is a welder here in Idaho and as of just a month ago when I last talked to him he was busy as hell and getting calls from several companies wanting him to go to work for them,, he keeps turning them down and they are companies doing government contract stuff for military and aerospace, I'm retired and weld just as hobby/build trailers and stuff to sell, my neighbors know I do welding and are always wanting me to do stuff,,, I could make fair change just doing that local stuff without any advertising,,, just must be a where your are type of thing.
How populated is your nephews area? I think it’s worst in more heavy populated areas. California is just screwed right now all across the board for work
@@washburnfabco It's what I would call heavily populated but maybe not to some because being that I have been out of school (graduated) literly 40 years ago and watched the area grow so much, Idaho especially around the coeurdalene area where he is is like one of the highest population growth areas in the country and has been for a few years now,,, it's where everybody (including bussiness) is moving to that has had enough of the B.S. of California LOL, that thinking about now is the reason for it,,, His Dad (my brother) works for the city of rathdrum (where we both went to school and is a short 10 miles from Coeurdalene ) and is projects manager there , he of course tells me about the massive amounts of planned future growth there and it is just WOW, you'd have to look up the statistics of population growth over the years or had to have been there to watch it grow but when I was still in school and living in rathdrum it was a sleepy little town of maybe 2500, now it is bigger than Coeurdalene that back then (mid 70's on,, i'm 58) had about 60,000 population,, thing of it is that growth has been something like 80% just in the last 10 to 15 or so years with a huge portion of that being since about the last 4to5 years because of the bad California fires/covid crap and all the crap that went on (riots and what not) after the last presidential election,,, example I own a 10 acre parcel of land in just outside of rathdrum, when I bought it back in 1989 I paid $1100 per acre (woodland out in the middle of nowhere at that time with limited acces),,, now that Rathrum city limits has grow 8 miles in the dirrection of that property it is now very accesable and being looked at as prime realestate,, since the last election covid and all that crap that went on in 2020 that property is now going for right around $100,000 an acre (I did split it and sold 5 acres of it just this year for $437,000) so yes it is crazy growth around here causing the work,, I say here I should say there because I live in a tiny sleepy little town of about 1200 about 170 miles south of that area now (because in my retirement years I can't handle the city B.S. anymore),, around here the big thing is farming,, Not many people just miles and miles of wheat, soybean, canola and hay fields rolling farmland as far as you can see (other than the town of Cottonwood I live in),,, not potatoes like everyone thinks that is farther south in the state LOL, many of those farmers need stuff worked on not to mention about everybody around here even the non farmers have a few pieces of farm or heavy type equiptment for snow removal yard mowing gardening or what not, many have what might be called mini farms even within town limits,,, heck i have a small cattle feed lot right across the dirt road from me and to neighbors have horse that border on my place, that is where I come in with my welding/machining/auto/heavy equiptment background of schooling for and working for many years in those fields, I can fix or repair about anything and have a shop full of the equiptment to fix or make new about anything (lathes, vertical milling machine, welders, vehicle lifts,, you name it in fact I am better set up than the local big shop, that is a shop that has been here forever that works on a bunch of farming equiptment and even cars trucks and so on for locals around here,, in fact I have been doing some jobs such as welding and machining for them for a bit now, they also send people to me for such stuff (they try and get me to do mechanical work but I will not do it),,, anyhow my biggest problem now is my failing health,, it's why I currently have time to sit here wrighting books to people I don't know LOL,,, been laid up for 3 weeks now and it's going to be about that much longer before I can go back to even doing my casual hobby level occasional job for someone else thing I have been doing,, don't need the money just need to keep busy to keep from going even more nuts than I allredy am,,, like being laid up right now LOL, anyhow thake care my friend
It's been slow in NC lately, too. If I didn't do mechanic work also I would be done. Concrete has always been feast or famine, I'm used to it now. It'll come around, just gotta hold on.
Sucks to hear. Guess we just got to push through
Definitely slowed down just a little, like just now, enough ive actually been looking into some "marketing" why not
Nice!!!
Thanks!
I myself, have been welding & fabricating for over 25 years and a business owner for a little over one year. It's a grind, but the quality of your work and standards along with work ethics go along way in procuring work. I totally agree and Believe in entrepreneurship, but the market is way oversaturated. This industry or trade field has become like landscaping is during the summer time where has everybody with a lawnmower and a weedeater has a lawn service business. So if you have a Harbor freight generator / welding machine and a grinder you're a welding and fabrication specialist go start your business today. "I say sarcastically" Like you said the lesser experienced and the ones will fizzle out in time.
Well said! Hopefully it mellows out.
Here is food for thought, some father and son team has been I guess that they made there way up and down the street putting up custom strair railings (some look that they are custom welded) and I think they ride up and down the streets looking for customers they never had any railing out on the front door enterences or they are wood and rotted away.....and this small father and son team has mad a killing around my neighborhood!!! SO HERE IS MY THOUGHT GET TOGETHER AND GET TO KNOW YOUR HOME BUILDERS IN YOUR AREA AND INTRODUCE YOUR SELF THAT YOU CAN DO CUSTOM ENTERANCE RAILINGS instead of the dead wood approach.... AND PLUS IT MAY LEAD TO OTHER WORK WELDING STRUCTUAL OR FRONT ENTERANCE GATES Liked#4 N Subscribed!!!
This is always true. I’ll talk about this method in the next video
Could you make a video about balancing social media and work? How much time per week you spend recording, editing, responding, etc.
I will put it on the list!
Bro wen you get pulled over you take it off
Im not sure what your trying to say
That’s dope! The casters idea is a solid suggestion. Just stumbled on your channel. Another local welder out here in Lodi. 👍🏼 keep up the good work
Nice! im actually in Acampo. Welcome
I want a free plasma cutter
Dub
Put it on rollers, you'll thank me later.
The plastic actually slides pretty good. This video was taken over a year ago so it’s seen some use. I do need to put in some tabs on my deck to guide it back in. If it was for a customer I would definitely put rollers but it’s for me and I wanted something fast and cheap to make.
good work. looks like it fits snugly and makes efficient use of the space.
Thanks yes it does! Dividers are removable too
The dividers look tacked in place.
The part that’s tacked is a piece of 14g bent over on its self with about 1/8” clearance creating a channel
I want one
might win one
Spot on with everything you said. I’ve been through multiple scenarios you’ve discussed. Thanks from Modesto 👍🏼
Modesto, Nice. Thanks Bro!
New sub, just starting my own welding company.
Sweet good luck
Used this machine for my first welds. Happy so far!
Nice !
I have owned Lincoln and Miller machines -- Miller seems to keep older replacement parts in stock longer.
@@chriscosby2459 good to know. Pretty sure the 210 mp parts are completely discontinued and it’s only been out of production for a year or so
That's sick bro. I love custom one off exhaust systems.
@@KnowlesFamilyGarage thanks!
This looks pretty solid
Yo! I need a plasma welder please crossing my fingers, I'm making my own welding table and I don't have acetylene torch setup. 😅 gread videos man keep em comin
Good luck! Thanks

@@BattleForEden thank you!
I have a MP210, a Idealarc 250 AC/DC and a 1966 Redface SA200. Been very happy with Lincoln products
You should try Fronius machines
I used one at a job I had back in 2018 I believe. It may of just been the way they were set up at the shop but I wasn’t the biggest fan. If I had one here and dialed in I would prob like it.
that's a very interesting story...have you ever tried "esab" welding machine ?
I have but the one I used was rather old. I didn’t use it very long. A buddy brought it over and I used to on a few jobs. I think it was a 2010s model.
Do you have any experience with the yes ywa160?
I do not!
Would use to start facing some of my own parts for my 4x4
Nice! Good luck
Great work your doing
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks for all the videos as someone starting out you have a lot of great advice.
Your welcome! More to come
If I won, I would probably use it on.... EVERYTHING!!! lol I am addicted to welding... As a masonry contractor, I have little free time, and instead of being like everyone else and doing who knows what in their very limited free time that works in the Masonry trades.... I fabricate cool shiz and teach myself new techniques and taught myself two processes with no help, unfortunately, and spent the first year with the sticker on my helmet....smh..... lmao, my welds improved 1000% overnight... literally! lmao!!! I need a real multi-process welder to top out my collection of cheap inadequate machines that my low income can afford! God Bless!
Haha nice! Good luck!
I would use it to help stary my little welding business :) Thank you :)
