Voxengo MSED, the free Mid Side Processing plugin beats the paid plugins from AVID and Waves
Voxengo MSED is one of the best free plugins ever. Period.
In this video it goes head to head with the AVID Fairchild 670 and the Waves Center.
Mid Side Processing is kind of the next step to thinking about mixing your space after you understand left and right pretty well. Mid means the information in both channels (mono) and Sides means info that is not in both channels (what makes it stereo) and there are a lot of ways to use it.
Voxengo has a lot of plugins that are free and that you pay for. If this is one of their free ones imagine what you'd get if you paid.

Using the Radial Voco Loco in a Vocal Pedalboard | Guitar Pedals on Vocals
Просмотров 9 тыс.2 года назад
Overview of the Voco Loco and using it in a pedalboard for live vocals. I'm surprised we haven't seen more of these in the different groups etc, a lot of people seem to sleep on the radial voco loco. As far as vocal effects go it's one of the best for how it incorporates guitar pedals into vocal chains. But just reviewing the Voco Loco on it's own is pretty difficult because it's just a vocal p...

That's it. I'm buying one.
Wow when i first ever started recording i didnt have alot of money so we had to use our guitar and bass fx for vocals only we did have a great tiled bathroom for a vocal booth and got great natural reverb. We did decide the bass fx did better for the most part. My voice is deeper than alot of vocalists so they worked better for my needs. But everybody's got different needs and wants. I actually sill have my old Boss fx. The chorus is my favorite for vocals. Ibanez chorus and delays work great too.
Wave Center is not a mid-side codec, is a phantom center DSP. MSED is L+(-R) and R+(-L) for the sides, when de mid is L+R. Try Schoeps Mono Upmix by P.Alliance. MCenter by Melda. KungFu tool for mid-side.
THAT WAS USEFUL ! perfectly covered subject Thank you
Will stacking with a fuzz pedal on bass have the same effect?
The Klone that only does treble cut I’d still describe as as a Klon clone with a tone mod.
If they called the violin pedal the Organ Harvester, painted it earthy colors and put a skeleton carrying a scythe somewhere on it I would have bought one already. (Upon repeat viewing, I realize I can coax the same sounds with higher fidelity out of some combination of a Boss SY-1, an SL-2 and a GT-1 multieffects)
Good job, that blob of solder mod is going to save your butt one-day. Thanks.
"couldn't you just tell me?" Every online gear forum in a nutshell. A guy posted on reddit asking how to get shoegaze tones out of a specific delay pedal and I gave him pretty detailed directions on what ratios to set which controls to get a range of tones for different scenarios. His response was was "ok but what setting should I use? "
Wow that's nuts, had no clue what so ever. 😮
Great video man! Intro made me giggle
either someone sucked at soldering some wires or my desk is pretty strong, cause mine literally broke after one fall....bruh
Why is it coming for me?
@@MayGodRockYou it’s a lyric from a track of mine- I actually just finished a remix/remaster of it after years of being angry at what got released, need to upload it soon The song lyrics are supposed to be a double meaning between learning the end of the world is coming and about depression So when the end of the world comes -or- When the despair comes
@@MayGodRockYou if you look up my video “insane studio vocal effects and automation” you can hear it more in the context of the EP that was released in 2021 and see the in-depth look at the weirdness I did mixing/writing wise to it
Maybe you should make SM57-chucks as a martial arts weapon. Or maybe a mic drop test. Drop it from a drone or something.
@@benf101 the first one sounds like a fun way to get a tremolo on something
@@BGBSATX after looking up tremolo, I think you're right!
why would you try this 💀
@@muddymamba I let the intrusive thoughts win
Prince on these pedals have gone to $65+ now - better off purchasing a TC Electronic Zeus Pedal
Another really common reason you might want to use the mix knob is if you want subtle drive mixed in, or parallel compression. Of if you have like a chorus or phaser that is really strong and you want to dial it back. There's actually a ton or reasons you might want to introduce the dry signal.
@@hoggboyy I don’t disagree but the vocoloco’s mix knob is global for the whole chain- and a vocal mic needs considerable compression and EQ in a live situation and you’d want that before the affects- so unless you are already going through that before hitting the loco then the utility is pretty minimal- and if you were in a situation where you had other gear handling audio processing for the mic your actual need for the vocoloco would be likewise diminished
I didn't understand what you meant about it being overpowered unless you have a hyper cardioid mic?
@@hoggboyy had to rewatch for the context: Most mics that need phantom power are very very sensitive and pick up a lot (think large diaphragm mics, or overhead mics) and the sheer amount of bleed would turn using the loco into a feedback nightmare unless you are specifically using a hypercardiod or super cardioid pick up pattern meant for vocal mics, IE most mics with phantom power would be a poor fit for the loco
How was the TTone?
Good to see ya, brother!
I jus bought one for recording music hopefully it's decent. From amazon
2:35 Good for the *Sir Nose Devoid Of Funk* (Parliament band character) voice efx 😉
This video was so helpful, I’ve had so many issues with feedback when I use my vocal processor. I appreciate your advice about how to use the EQ and compression pedals. Thank you!
Watched this video a few years back and stumbled back on it. I love the honesty. As a fan of weird noises, these still seem unusable, but i just ordered their vibrato pedal because there's no demos on RUclips and I'm intrigued by the waveform choices. We'll see how terrible it is!
Formant synth sounds a bit like a resly pedal
Does anyone know much about the cello tone pedal? 🤘
@8:20 in this rare case, making it technically more complicated will make the end result seem less complicated. I'm about to buy one of these from a guy off of FB marketplace when he gets back from vacation, hopefully the amount of new cables won't be too pricey, but ya I'm excited! I have a big pedalboard, gonna use one channel for my 4 modulation pedals, one for my 3 delays, and one for my 4 reverbs, hopefully when stacking all these things, that'll be my best bet. I don't think combining my mods or combining my verbs gets too lost in the sauce the way I have em set up, but combining a couple mods WITH a couple verbs is where I start to get too mushy, so I'm thinking this is my solution :)
@@skepticalbystander you might find a different video of mine helpful, Klon Sandwich (thumbnail has Alf on it) and consider using preamps etc. in that video I use one (well several) of the wish Klon clones as a post dirt preamp. In your case I would think about using them strategically post mods and possibly mid way through your verbs as those are both effects that tend to do the tone suck. A super nice thing about the tri parallel mixer, aside from making parallel stuff possible, is the EQ and send/recieve knobs so you can play with your gain staging a bit
@BGBSATX I actually don't have an issue with tone suck thankfully on either of my two setups :) it's just a loss of clarity, cuz while I don't push my spacey warbley effects with too heavy of settings, it's also not subtle either, so stacking them is the only place I run into clarity issues because of the settings multiplying. I also don't have room on my pedalboard unless I get a second tier added on (which I do want to do), my board is insanely tight fitted. I'm lucky I can do without my looper pedal that's the same size of the parallel mixer, so my looper will have to go on the ground off to the side, I don't use it a whole lot anyway. I'm a death metal guy, so I use pretty high gain distortion, but 95% of the time, it's from my Crate BV300H, so I rarely use drive pedals, the distortion on that head is glorious, though I do have a BB+ Preamp pedal that is always on, it's way up front after my wah and my octave pedal. The way I use my fx loop, there's not a whole lot of wiggle room for moving around drives before and after things, most everything is in my fx loop where I find drives don't like to be :/
Extremely helpful video!
Really helpful perspective especially regarding compression and EQ…thanks!
The one at 16:11 I own and it’s killer.
Thank you for this video. You saved me some money for sure!
And I thought this was a legit video.
Thanks for the video 🦄
Yes
The nice thing about the tpm is you can just cut off the channel that is running a delay if you drop a bad note into it. Mistake? What mistake? rofl. Realistically, you could just hit the bypass on the delay but if you're stacking delays, they could both be in the same loop. Then shutting off that channel would be useful. Thanks for the video.
If I turn my gain up at all, I get lots of scratching sounds (regardless of amp). Any ideas?
wait, so you need a pedal to stop feedback? I thought that was the voco locos job? So the voco loco is just an expensive volume pedal??? Better off just using a DI box
The Voco Loco is a pre-amp with an effects loop that adjusts for the impedance for going to the pedals… In the sound world it’s generally expected to use a graphic EQ (or a super tight parametric EQ) to prevent feedback. Consumer level products may have “auto feedback prevention” but this is little more than fancy EQ with detection tricks, which sound guys like me tend not to trust because the detection stuff can end up wrecking your stuff in other ways. Not to mention, a DI box would still need a pre-amp etc. If you are only doing studio stuff I’d agree that you don’t need the vocoloco, I use re-amp boxes all the time, send out from my daw into the pedals etc, lets you work the sound guy stuff ( EQ, compression etc ) in plugins instead of pedals. But if you are doing live stuff and want to send the sound guy your feed via a single XLR cable the vocoloco is probably your best bet, just learn how to EQ out feedback because if you’re in a dive bar the sound guy may just have a mackie 1604 and can’t prevent feedback like a solid hand on a graphic EQ can.
Wtf is that... nightmare for sure. Omg it gets worse.
Any tips for live? I have a vocal processor but I like to run guitar effects after it but I’ve been losing so much signal. Should I use a DI box before mixer?
A clean boost for signal loss compensation and a 10 band EQ for feedback fighting would be a good idea. I have another video involving the Roland Voco Loco that would be worth a look.
Individual note to violin
what about a flanger pedal? like boss flanger
what about a flanger pedal, like the boss flanger on vocals?
Do you use an xlr adapter to go from mic to stomp box? What's the best way to do that exactly?
Fun vid. Cool pedal selections.
I own about 20 pedals. I love 19 of my pedals. One pedal is an Aural Dream pedal. I wouldn't buy another one of these pedals ever.
I have this but haven't used USB yet. Also you can turn off the arpeggio in each mode slot.
Turns out masks did virtually nothing, sheeple.
Came here for the Whammy Pedal demo...didn't see the chord option being used, left dissapointed.
Any additional tips or considerations when pairing a baritone guitar with the Meatbox?
If you get a trs to t & s splitter cable, you can run wet and dry separately out of the output jack. That's how you keep the pedal from devouring a guitar's input signal.
