How to fix a misfire(HEI distributor)
Since I wasn't super clear in the video, I'll go ahead and leave everything here as far as data goes.
Coil primary (batt terminal to tach): less than 1 ohm
Coil secondary(batt terminal to center brush on cap): 6000-30,000 ohm
Magnetic pickup: 0.5-1.5ohm
(REMEMBER WHAT SETTING YOUR MULTIMEETER IS ON OR YOULL JUST CONFUSE YOURSELF 😂)
hope this helps, god bless

No way you got that many bad modules sorry, cool that you mixed chevrolet and ford but oops. Beautiful that it was just your time and a few bucks thanks to advance auto closing lol. Check for the voltage on the module it might help
Fricken avada cadavra that minty ol hoor
Good luck Daniel Radcliffe
Thanks😂
Chevy distribitor is in the rear of the engine... maybe should have used an EEC4 for that ford v8
At least there's no skid marks😂

Love your frankinvan
Had my ballast resistor get damaged on my old truck, I ended up just bypassing the resistor, and installed a 12v coil
Get rid of that and go with a pertronix
A 5 ohm coil takes that out of the equation
That is sooo old school! Brought back many found memories.😂 From some of the comments I read it appears that some don't realize how the start/ run circuit worked in cars with points and condenser. In the regards to the ballast resistor, this was by passed when the key was in the start mode. It would be in the circuit only with the key in the run position. Yes, it was to reduce the voltage to keep the points from burning (pitting) as fast. It also reduced the voltage through the primary windings of the coil since the spark didn't need to be as hot for a running engine as when starting a cold one. Also remember, with the points open the coil and condenser were at the full voltage. The points closing completed the current to ground to make the coil generate the high voltage that went to the spark plugs. To the person that talked about limping his car home, if you were doing this by removing the resistor you may have had one heck of an electrical storm inside the cap since the secondary voltage would have been higher than the cap and rotor were designed for. Or there may have been moisture and a little bit of dirt in the cap.
Thank you for giving everyone great information great job. Lithium and chips sounds gross lol
or use a pertronix ignition
Great info keep it up thank you for the extra knowledge
Get a internaly resisted coil
Great info.
Thanks for sharing
@@Weldon-c2t thanks for watching
😂😂
Lol
Nice job man
Thanks!
always thought the resistor was to lower the voltage (6v) so the points didn't burn up so quickly, and the condenser was to smooth out the voltage.
I can’t even start to tell you how many times I’ve limped a car home by installing a points back in the car and hot wiring the coil straight to the battery
What is the motion of the stick as you pull it? Is it a straight pull or do you waggle or what?
@danhogan7156 i do what's called a whip and pause with a slight alternating side to side as i pause .I have a video on that very subject actually.
never even thought of to do this
@xxkillertitan1144 as far as a place to source wire for your welding leads, jumper cables are a great option.!
Great demo. Can you weld with jumper cables, coat hanger, and batteries ?
Great fun video keep them coming
Great video man keep on rocking it.
Appreciate it, thanks for watching!
Great video mate
@@Weldon-c2t thank you!
Lol😂
I could really use these lol
@EnderDragonGamerz02 i misunderstood this the first time my bad😂 you wouldn't have wanted them. They were press board a d got water damaged
DONATE THEM !!!!
@susanjacques6328 It's probably too late😂
@BearButler321 it sure is.😬
@susanjacques6328 Also they were pretty nasty inside, it was pressboard that got wet i don't think they would last much longer
If you need help I'm pretty good at chopping Subaru cams in half😅
@@BearButler321 your lethal with a hammer💪
Yeah funny thing to is people who go from Points to a Pertronix or similar solid state systems who have problems is because the Ballast is still in there! Funny to see it the other way around!
You can do it. Piece of cake
Thanks
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching
Great hack
Have you thought about doing one of those tournaments 😂
Try doing dual points you pleeb
Thanks for watching
Dual points just added to the fun. 😊
It aint that hard 😂
Love the music it looks like your having fun
Snug screw. Use flat screwdriver in that groove/slot to adjust.
Goes back further than the '70s
Ive tuned carbs....never seen anything but a slot for a flat driver....holly or oe...i would of did a 5.3 swap tho...wait the fast idle need a 1/4 wrench for adjustment my bad
You just don't know what you're doing, son. First, install it. Then you advance the crank til it sits on the lobe. Then snug the screw some so there's drag to hold it for you. Use a straight blade screwdriver against the housing to move the points. And the gap isn't everything,, ace. Dwell is most important. Gap just gets you in the ballpark, young man. Time won't wait for you to sit there messing around. Where's your brain? I taught myself the little tricks. Put you flat rate and you'll lose your arse!
@karlkemble2273 🤣 ok buddy, but here i am doing it. And teaching myself in spite of people like you. I don't understand why it makes you so angry, but I'm glad you got all that out. Hope you feel better, and thanks for watching👍
I've always been a chevy guy but when it came time for points i wish I had a ford with the distributor in front hate points
@z28chevy23 i have a van so it kinda kills the bennifit too😂
Some were a nightmare to do in situ.
It's too easy lol, invite a buddy to help so you have 3 hands and an excuse to drink a beer 😂
I was wondering how you styled your dew-rag😅
Creepy 😎
