I’m pretty sure the surfer getting barreled at 2:20 dodging the surfboard was Chris ward.. I had a poster of it back in the day. Still have it somewhere but when I was 20 in my little beach shack bachelor of it was all covered In surf posters
I remember watching this video right when it was uploaded. God damn, just as epic as the first time I watched it 11 years ago.
Phenomenal swell and performances! 🙌🫶⭐🔥💯🤙
i love this video of surfing!
This will always be my favorite surf video of South Florida. Still mind blown by the size of the waves at Pump House
😎🇺🇸🧜🏼♂️I❤Pumphouse & Reef Road 🏄♂️🌊🤙
I made the mistake of surfing that day It was Miami South Beach and Kelly Slater was out there. That should’ve been my first warning not to go that and I was out of shape .. I almost drowned. I’ve surfed since I was 15 but my body was out of shape after not being able to surf for a couple years. (Life ) I thought I could handle it because of my knowledge of the waves and rips. That day taught me one large lesson . It was getting bigger and the rip was pushing me into the Jetti If I didn’t catch a wave or move so I decided to catch a wave and go in maybe move up the beach. Thing was I couldn’t catch a wave it was big and this board I borrowed was water logged and too short and i was again ( out of shape ) ! I couldnt get past the rip to get in and I was getting more and more tired so wasn’t able to paddle for a wave. I forgot everything I knew and started to panic. Just when I thought I was doomed I told a fellow surfer I couldn’t get in and he told me to paddle for the next wave and just ride it in. The wave came and he pushed . I just bellied it in cause I was so weak. I made it obviously but my story is 2 parts 1 to show the brother hood of surfers ( most times lol ) and 2 nd is to remember , Mother Nature is nothing to play with , know your limits. I knew better than to go in after being so out of shape. Surfing and surfers are great athletes and they work hard to stay in shape. Your out there with a big board dragging it through waves and getting caught inside. When your in shape and surfing a lot you take it for granted until you are not and things go south. Know your limits boys girls. Or Mother Nature will remind you. Be safe and to the guy I never got to thank you. Thank you for saving my life ❤ Laters Brah 🤙 😂
Best surf video and respectful respiration of how Florida east coast blows up
Lantana for the Win, Joe.
The best part of this video is hearing the shutter clicking off the chain as the guy is pulling into the barrel at pumphouse. Epic, love it!
Pumphouse 1977-1989

this still gives me chills
2:10-3:20 looking like big Indo. Really incredible
I lived near Reef Rd from late 60s to early 70s. Of course, Reef is super finicky and inconsistent. However, I remember the summer that Jaws (the movie) came out, they were dredging the inlet and pumping the sand over to the Reef Rd side of the jetty. They created an island that somehow harnessed the minimal summer wave energy into a surfable shorebreak that peeled around this miniature island. We'd paddle out to the island (freaked about Jaws - I was about 12) and stay and surf that island all day. I moved to San Diego CA a year later (where I lived the next nearly 50 years) and surfed some great waves in my life, but respect always for Reef Rd!
Thanks for sharing your amazing video my friend...washhandswashhandswashhands

Looks like some Brett Barley type barrels. Got to be Pumphouse with some Reef Road thrown in there. They say FL doesn't get waves, but they forget we are In hurricane alley. I live in the panhandle area and you just have to know when and where to go.
I remember this hurricane! I was visiting Miami Beach, then I went to Daytona, then we visited Rolando! We were down there for about a week visiting. That place was awesome!
Looks like the Boynton Beach Inlet.
Major credit due to the photographers and filmers of this edit. This video is the pinnacle of Florida and its surfing heritage. The spirit and courage Hurricane Sandy demanded is perfectly captured. The filmers used state of the art equipment and put themselves at the top locations, with the top surfers, and nailed the shots. You guys have truly executed something that few will ever do in their lives and I'm so grateful to be able to watch this video for the rest of my life. Cheers to you guys.
I COULD RUN THROUGH A BRICK WALL RIGHT NOW. CHILLS.... That was undoubtedly the best edit I've seen in a looooong time... damn!
Such a legendary video 😭 used to watch this so much as a kid
Hello! I've been a fan of yours ever since I first saw this video back in 2012 or 2013. It was the most aesthetically pleasingly cinematographic surf video I had seen up until that point and it raised the bar in what I thought was possible with A-V surfing content. I think it is still one of my top pics for most aesthetically pleasingly cinematographic surf video, all these years later. So, bravo for taking a chance on a surf video with tons of slo-mo footage. You pulled it off because your aesthetic is great. Also, thanks for introducting me to Adventure Club and my descent into the rabbit hole of modern electronica music. And, lastly, thanks for inspiring to pick up my DSLR and my GoPro and to get out there and shoot some land, air, and, most importantly: humans playing with gravity playing with water.
best surf edit ever made. idk how many times i’ve watched this for the past 6-7 years
Florida has some of the best surfers on earth. This video had more impressive makes and maneuvers than most pro surf edits
We gonna ignore the fact that the guy at 0:55 definitely got run over??? Lol
I wish south beach could be like this every day. Loved the waves.
Wow 8 years ago. Jeez.
I really don't know how many times I have watched this insane video. I was there, Reef Road and Pump House. HANDSDAOWN BEST EAST COAST SURF SPOT WHEN IT IS PUMPING!!!!! THANKS!!

When we get barrels, we get them perfect.
biggest east coast swell ever?
Ño!
the reef road footage is awesome. best wave in south florida by far when it gets serious.
Man. As someone who paddled his arms off for sandy. From jupiter to Miami. For days.... t The documentation means so much to me... I just get conveniently reconfirm that yes... it was that good. Good enough to where there could be no excuse to miss it... Miami was sinking with the high tide... seawater flooding the streets... florida barrels that would rival any wave in the galaxy. Days and days. Spots with no names. . Fek
I’ve stayed at the pump house Marriott Singer Island several times
Going off!!!!
Heavyyy
Awesome 😎
Wow. Great video.
