My Perfect EveryDay Camera + Sony JPEG Recipe
My quest for the perfect every day camera has finally reached an end. After my beloved Fuji x100F started having issues, I went to find its replacement. I thought it would be to another Fuji, but I was wrong. I ended back where I started. Back with Sony. Specifically the Sony a7cii. While Fuji is praised for its colors, Sony has a few tricks up its sleeve with Creative Looks. Now I have a camera that's small and portable, has amazing autofocus and has great colors SOOC.

Why I Choose My Fuji over my Sony
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.11 месяцев назад
I absolutely love my Sony cameras for professional photos and video, but they aren't the best as an everyday walk around camera. They are a bit too cumbersome and bulky even with the smallest pancake lenses. That's where my Fuji x100F shines. It's much easier to travel with and has an awesome straight out of camera workflow thanks to Fuji recipes. Follow me on IG: _one901?hl=en G...
Why I Shoot Aperture Priority
Просмотров 305Год назад
Most photographers will tell you that you have to shoot manual mode, but that's not true. Aperture Priority is your camera's secret weapon and gets great results. It's my go to mode to shoot in most situations. Why not trust the camera I invested lots of money on to not let it do some of the heavy work? Plus manual mode is slower. Check me out on IG as well @_one901 _one901?hl=en

    Relatable. I dropped my XE4 and was presented with a repair bill worth more than the camera. So I ordered a silver 7CR and 40mm G that should be here today or tomorrow. I think Fuji is a great system but I was ready for a change (I also own a ton of GM glass for video stuff). The sucky part of moving to Sony for still will be losing film sims, which is why I am here. I have to try and replicate the look. That was the best part of the Fuji for me. I'll try this film some

    I just got this camera and I am In love. All the things you dislike, I love about it. I'm a beginner and new to Fuji so the whole 40mp thing is amazing as someone who is coming from a collection of vintage digital cameras lol. I love the size, but I do have smaller hands. The pop up flash is so cute and I love it. And the film sim dial is so fun to play around with and I actually find it inspiring as someone new to learning how colors work and not ready to dive into serious editing. I get to play and learn. A lot of the hate I see on this camera comes from people who refuse to acknowledge that it wasn't for them in the first place. I appreciate that you acknowledge you are not necessarily the demographic who this would be perfect for. And if you are the right person, this is a great camera. Not all cameras are for all people. Reminds me of the comments years back when the USA started to make smaller cars and the complaints came in - 'love the smaller car but it won't tow my horse float'. I am and XT5 and XH2s owner and have just purchased an XT 50 because of its small size. Life is one long compromise and if my pinky does not have anywhere to hang out on the camera so what. I find it rests easily under the camera, on my palm. I do a lot of travel photography and I grew tired of lugging around the XT5 and a 16-80mm lens all day and, because it was the only kit readily available at the moment, due to the popularity of the new XF lightweight zoom, and decided to settle on the XC 15-45mm, my first ever XC lens and am really happy because it is genuinely light and, for travel, has excellent IQ.

  • @Festvangelist
    @Festvangelist Месяц назад

    The XT 50 would be a great little travel camera. However to your point the ergonomics on cameras are a big deal for sure. Personally the XS20 or XS10 fit me better deeper grip. Don’t start on the fixed vs changeable lens…if you want to shoot with one lens just no worries but give yourself choices especially in travel. The tactile dials…agree with you not a fan. Much easier to keep my eye in the viewfinder and hands on the camera with the design on the XS20. That design allows me to press the drive button and go to bracketing, film simulations etc. with the toggle in a fast and ergonomic way.

    Nice video, man. I'm so glad you mentioned the buffer! As a wedding photographer, I keep running into this and have been trying to find answers for switching from Fuji to Sony. But I have to point out: The X-T5 does have the ability to switch to all video settings, just like the Sony. It takes some set-up in the menus, however. You can basically program it to ignore the main dials and switch to the wheels. From there, you can choose things like 1/50 shutter and have it store those video settings. Then, switching from stills to video completely changes the settings and operation of the camera. No further tweaking is needed!

    You're right; The Fuji raw (X-Trans sensor) files are not properly processed by Adobe products. The autofocus is also a subject of much concern. It has not kept up with the competition. The flagship X-H2s (not the X-H2) has a stacked sensor and offers much better speed, buffer, and autofocus. If you haven't, consider trying that one. The color science matters if you shoot straight to JPeg, like many Fujifilm users. Otherwise, you can edit photos from any camera to (try to) get what you want. I chose Fujifilm because I liked having a physical ISO dial, along with the aperture ring, and shutter dial. At the time, I felt the user experience was important because it meant I would go out and photograph more often. I get around the smaller sensor size and X-Trans processing issues by using DXO Photolab on the RAW and then exporting it to Topaz AI to sharpen and enlarge. Then, I export a TIFF to Photoshop because unlike most of the Fujifilm community, I love photo editing! I think about switching to Sony or Canon because of the autofocus issues, but I have just enough luck with it to keep me using the camera. I've shot with an a7IV, in a studio setting, but I didn't feel the way I did, for example, when I shot with a Hasselblad X2D II (which I haven't gotten off my mind for 5 years). The a7IV didn't strike me as inspiring.(!) (Can you believe that!? It sounds like it should not make sense, but that was the way it felt.) Oh, and the Sony app for camera control is also light-years better than Fuji's. That's another sore spot.

I thought about cancelling the XS20 order but I knew that camera specs do not necessarily translate to good shooting experience. Thanks to you, now I do not have to worry about regretting my purchase and just go and enjoy shooting with the XS20 :) . Couple of thoughts about different features; The simulation dial on the XT50 could have been implemented like it is on the XS20 with a blank dial that is set to film simulation by default with option to set for other functions. I actually had the dial set to ISO and later set it back to film simulation after trying it out. The latest firmware update added Reala Ace without any change to the functioning of that blank dial. The 40MP sensor was a big draw but I do find that I am still able to do a lot of cropping on the 26MP. Like a lot of people trying out the Fujifilm system, I am still on the waiting list for a X100VI. I agree the XS20 is not a replacement for X100VI (love "consolation prize") but as a travel camera where more than one focal length is desirable, XS20 and XT50 makes a lot of sense in their compact size and compact lenses.

    I totally get you regarding the overly detailed of the 40mp sensor. Still prefer the XT1 16mp sensor or even the XT2 24mp sensor. And the pricing ya....the XT10 series supposed to be budget friendly line, but now the pricing is almost the same as A7IV, and R6II in my country, it simply doesn't make any sense to go with fuji apsc anymore...

      @@apamacam4838 yeah it’s priced too close to the x100vi and xt5 for the sacrifices

    The grip point is valid and that's what i mentioned in one of my videos. It just gets annoying the more you switch from one camera to another.
