I caught my first trout on a lews pole with powerbait month ago and when the fish was on i just reeled him in lol

@@Harlo86 you don’t want to pull out the hook on a fish with a soft mouth, like crappie. Or if you are fishing with really light line you don’t want to break off. Other than that, just crank them in haha.

@ set your drag before you cast so your line doesn’t break when you set the hook. I was using 30 lb braid with 20 lb flouro leader so I could crank down that drag. 6lb test line you will need a lot looser drag.

@@mackjenkins7721 the water was cold, and very mineral rich. Tasted a little like dirt. The rocks were so sharp, it’s crazy that people could be barefoot in there.

@BRandomFishing I believe it was scary man . Just the word sharks is scary man . Well I won't have to worry about sharks no time soon because I just had my foot surgery done & I can't walk for a while so a am in a wheelchair for a couple of months .

Skip to the 14 minute mark. I get snagged and really crank on it. The rod handled more than I could put it through with any fish around here.

@@blksheepgaming6656 the screw is still there for setting the tension, it does tend to come loose on its own now without the rubber washer. I definitely think it is a design flaw, maybe they needed to use a washer that is not as big so it does not interfere with the blade edge during deployment. I had to remove it because the blade stuck almost every time.

@@BRandomFishing Yes, as I indicated, the rubber washer is part of the tension screw system they utilize to have such great kydex for their knives. I would like to see if others are having the same problem or if you just got an oversize washer by accident. I haven't seen any other videos about this. I may purchase one this week and if I do, I will be checking this out first thing upon receiving it.

I’m having similar issue, and even removing the rubber entirely the blade sticks to the lower part of the kydex and prevents me from drawing

@@thatfishingnoob dang, that sucks! Thanks for the heads up, I will avoid. Decker lake’s boat ramp is closed to boats so that is going to be fire on a kayak. Went last weekend and caught my biggest of the year. Where did you end up going?

@ ended up going to 20 mins west and caught maybe 7 total haha. Biggest was 17.25.

@@thatfishingnoob they drained it to work on the dam so it was down for a year. I went out there this spring after they finished and there were still a lot of good fish. You should have a blast. I haven’t been out there since the spring so I can’t tell you how the water level or weeds are going to be.

@@marriedvlogger275 I have a left hand crank too, I just can’t get used to it. My left hand is too uncoordinated to reel them in when the reel is on top. With a spinning reel, gravity seems to help keep everything balanced.

​@@BRandomFishingtrain yourself to do it. U crank left with the spinning reel. I got used to it quick and now I can't use a right crank reel at all. Lol. With a baitcaster u get faster to recasting, reeling and casting again. Ur not switching hands.

@@mackjenkins7721 I’m sorry, I must have missed your comment. They are good, water got to their garage during the last one but did not get in. This one might be worse. They are going inland and spent the last couple days preparing. I am also prepping in a sense, I will have a new baby boy in about a month. I just went to the er last night due to a terrible pain in my arm. Again, can’t fish for a while… I think I am going to have to stay on a clean diet, it seams ever since I did a carnivore cleanse, my body is more sensitive to food like products.

@@ronmatson5502 Right!!! I was just bragging on how awesome the DC is to my buddy last trip (video dropping soon) it really is insane how well the slx dc casts light baits. I also use it for heavy baits, and it’s always set to a 2. Unless I’m skipping frogs, then it’s a 4.

@@victordonofrio1611 I really like magnacut for edc because it is so maintenance free. The ball bearing steel takes a little work to keep it rust free but it does hold an edge a little better.

@@JoshuaBFishing I was thinking about you for real!!! I almost tried to bring out a punch rig for the first time ever, haha. Now I have the power to do so. Having no drag is honestly a game changer, you can just crank them out instead of pulling them out.

@@BRandomFishing Yeah, I lock down my drag on my punch rig. It's a 20lbs drag, but when I lock it down, there is no drag anymore. Couple of tips. Never grab your rod forward of the reel. Increases the chance of breaking it. If you cast back into the reeds, and no bite. reel in as soft as possible. You'll get your lure out without snagging, every time.
