Just a place for me to post some covers I feel like playing every now and then.
Trying not to take it too seriously, but hopefully I get better at recording myself.
Everything is done in one take with no major editing. No comping or tuning.

Scumbag Blues - Acoustic Them Crooked Vultures Cover
I am one more song closer to covering this album in full.
Good thing too... I'm running out of silly vulture pictures they used in their promo pictures to slap into my thumbnails 🤣.

Interstate Love Song (Redo) - Acoustic Stone Temple Pilots Cover
Просмотров 352Месяц назад
I'm really trying not to give into the urge to redo things when I have... so many new songs I want to cover... but there's a few of my earlier videos that I feel I can really just do a better job on now. This is one of those songs that I always play when asked to Play Something™, so I wanted to give it a go with new gear/better mixing/(hopefully) better playing. I play in a band! Check out Idun...

Plug in Baby - Acoustic Muse Cover
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.4 месяца назад
I'm surprised it's taken this long for me to do a Muse cover. Decided to give my vocal compressor a real workout 😅 Plug in Baby was the lead single off of Muse's second studio album, 2001's 'Origin of Symmetry'. I was not crazy enough to try and do Matt Bellamy's falsetto stuff as my voice wasn't really cooperating with me that night. Sometimes you gotta work with what you got! I play in a band...
Born to Hula - Acoustic Queens of the Stone Age Cover

Originally appearing on the Kyuss/QotSA split album, Born to Hula was re-recorded as a Rated-R bonus track, which is the version I'm referencing. I play in a band! Check out Iduna at: ruclips.net/user/idunamusic
Flutter Girl - Acoustic Chris Cornell Cover
Просмотров 3106 месяцев назад
Flutter Girl is the second track off of Chris Cornell's first solo album "Euphoria Mourning", which was released in 1999. This continues my (slightly concerning) obsession with the work of Alain Johannes, and you can hear the influence from him and Natasha Shneider pretty heavily on this album. Also, I didn't even realize this, but Josh Freese played drums on this, who's now in the Foo Fighters...
In My Head - Acoustic Queens of the Stone Age Cover

Danny's back, baby! In typical fashion, I decided the song I was planning on covering wasn't good enough a day before recording... so I learned this last minute before going into the studio 😅. Had to take a bit of a break as I hurt my hand a month and a bit ago. Stitches are out and hand is all healed up now. I play in a band! Check out Iduna at: ruclips.net/user/idunamusic
Prisoners - Acoustic John Denver Cover
Просмотров 2629 месяцев назад
I don't know why, but every time I look at the word 'Prisoners' I'm convinced I've somehow spelled it wrong... Decided to take a different road this time and do a John Denver song. Prisoners is the 6th track off of his 7th studio album, 'Rocky Mountain High', which was released in 1972. It was the second single released off of the album. It was titled 'Hard Life, Hard Times (Prisoners)' for the...

Under the Lighthouse - Acoustic Big Wreck Cover
Просмотров 28210 месяцев назад
I'm surprised I haven't done a Big Wreck song! This is the seventh track off of their debut album 'In Loving Memory Of...', which was released in 1997. Wikipedia says it was a single that was released only in Canada, because we love our CanCon up here. Apologies to all the people with perfect pitch out there, this one will drive you bonkers. The tuning on this song is a bit non-standard, as it'...
Mind Eraser, No Chaser - Acoustic Them Crooked Vultures Cover

It's been a while since I've done a TCV song. This cannot stand. 'Mind Eraser, No Chaser' was the second song, and second single, off of Them Crooked Vultures' self titled (and still, frustratingly, their only) album. It was released in 2009. I play in a band! Cannonball - Acoustic Fat Mob Cover

Fat Mob is a local Toronto band that was founded and fronted by Chris Reed. We tragically lost Chris during lockdown in 2020, and the music scene just hasn't felt the same since. Cannonball is one of my favourite tunes by them. You can hear their original version at @fatmob5027 Miss you, friend.
How to Handle a Rope - Acoustic Queens of the Stone Age Cover

I'm really starting to run out of witty liners for these earlier Queens songs... But! Turns out the name was changed for this one on the reissue to include the '(A Lesson in the Lariat)' bit... the more you know! 'How to Handle a Rope' is the 6th track on Queens of the Stone Age's self titled debut. It was released in 1998. I play in a band! Check out Iduna at: ruclips.net/user/idunamusic

Into the Hollow - Acoustic Queens of the Stone Age Cover
Dude thanks for this killer cover man!! You got a great voice for this one. I really wish there was a solid studio recording of this song from Lanegan. Sadly his live recording is kinda painful to listen to but your awesome cover fills that void. Youre the man!!
This is 100% live people!!!
Killing the covers man!!! Does anyone want to see some original acoustics from this guy!!! Cause I do!!!!
Hey, man. I’m a big Kyuss fan and a fan of the Queens 1st three albums. Your covers are phenomenal. I can’t believe that you don’t have more subscribers. You’re brilliant. Awesome stuff, man! 🙂🤟✌️
Aw thanks man! Kind words warm my cold, jaded heart lol. I kind of like being a hidden channel flying under the radar to be honest 😅 i don't feel much pressure to keep up a facade or anything and i can just focus on having fun and stuff. I feel like the moment i start trying to promote my channel to boost followers or whatever is when the channel becomes the focus and not the music... Hopefully i don't sound to cork-sniffy saying that 😂
@ haha oh mate, it’s actually quite refreshing to know that there are still musicians like you out there. I think that you having a smaller, dedicated fan base is actually fitting for the bands that you cover. Even to this day, I’m still absolutely shocked when I talk to music fans who don’t even have Welcome To Sky Valley or Rated R in their music collection, but it reminds me of the 90s and the first 2 Queens albums, where I’d be in crowds of 40,000 at music festivals here in the UK and there would only be handful of us there rocking out to these bands. On the one hand, I’d want the crowd to be more appreciative, but on the other, I’d be like ‘nah, keep your Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach, Kyuss and QOTSA are OURS! For real music fans only! After the Queens split after the 3rd album, Mondo Generator and Mark Lanegan were set to close out the last day of Leeds Festival, in a tiny marquee. The masses were all at the main stage, which left around 100 of us in the marquee. Mate, watching Mondo and Lanegan’s Band in that intimate setting was one of best things that I’ve ever seen. Only 100 people, but everyone of them were there for the music. That was like 2004-5. So yeah, dude. Again, keep up the awesome work and cheers for staying real. Like how musicians used to be! 😁✌️🇺🇸🇬🇧
@@TrisonBoyesMusicalso, I’m still blown away by how you manage to play Kyuss songs on your own, as obviously they are one of the hardest bands to cover, given the structure and technical genius of their tunes, this one in particular. The chord sequences are crazy and not only do you absolutely nail them, but to also do Garcia’s vocs flawlessly is beyond talent. I sound like I’m blowing smoke 😂 but honestly dude, this band, this album and the 1st two Queens albums are so sentimental to me, I can’t really explain it. Cheers again, man! 😁✌️
Awesome job bro, love this jam!
Great job young man
🤔 yes i see what you mean about your falsetto being up to chops sir, damn good stuff!!
😅 it's definitely better than what it used to be. I still have work to do but I'm not... Totally embarrassed by it now lol
@@TrisonBoyesMusic yeah I don't do it so well, it is hard for me, like I can get high with power behind my voice but sometimes you need some delicate vocals which homme has through and through
Maybe I picked the wrong band to emulate 😂
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Voice & phrasing reminds me of Don McDougall, guitarist & vocalist for The Guess Who 1972-74 & later from 1977-79. Nice stuff.
Thank ya! I had the 'Runnin' back thru Canada' album back in the day and that version was what I'm referencing for the most part. I think McDougall was in the lineup for that as i definitely remember them shouting him out on his solo during 'Let It Ride' 😅
Holy smokes! That was awesome!
Given how many followers I can only imagine follow your channel out of some misguided belief we could replicate your covers of Homme's music on our own acoustics... you really need to start pumping out some 'how to play' videos. Just asking for a friend. A fairweather friend admittedly 😉
Haha, thanks man. 😅😩 I swear a good chunk of my comments are people asking for tutorials/chords... I don't know honestly. I do this because I like the challenge of figuring out the songs and coming up with a version that stays true to the original vibe but on acoustic, and then recording that live as best as possible. Most of what i do is just building up the electric guitar bits with the surrounding chords informed by the baseline. I'd rather see people try and do their own thing rather than me just telling them what to do... That doesn't really give me joy. This stuff is probably more complicated to explain than to do if I'm being honest 🤣
OMFG I totally loved <3
He’s back with a statement! The statement? We are not making it out.
I mean... Life is hard, that's why no one survives 😅
Hell yeah. Fucking killed it
Dude you KILLED this one. Excellent job as usual!
Thanks! This has been one I've wanted to cover for a very long time but I've had to slowly solidify my vocal placement and how to convert the guitar to acoustic in a way i liked.
@@TrisonBoyesMusicI imagine you really wanted that percussive sound out of the guitar including the fingerings in the middle of the verses. But you’re also doing the background vocals which is nothing to bat an eyelash at. That’s tough to do.
@@ThatOtherRaccoon Yeah! Those riffs during the verses with the backing vocals are such a key part of the vibe that it sounds weird if i leave them out. Just had to transpose some of the guitar parts to a different octave as it sounds super thin up top 😅 Figuring out how to flip between the lead vocals and backing vocals for placement without sounding like I'm going through puberty again was... A challenge 🤣
Kick ass
Love this song. That was fantastic!
Dude listen to the album the other day we have talked about interludes with ludes but caligulove I'm surprised you haven't done that one either yet lol
😅 it's like you precoged what album I was going to cover from next 🤣 I've been musing over caligulove and figuring out how I want to tackle it... and have been waiting for my falsetto to finally solidify a little bit more. I think after Scumbag Blues I feel a bit more confident in it so I can tackle caligulove and interlude. I still have no idea how the heck I want to cover Elephants 😅
@@TrisonBoyesMusic yeah I still practice that one religiously lol and have tried slowing it down and trying to make it more bluesy and it's tough
Might have to figure out caligulove....... 🤔
This album, this song.!! I love singing this one. Nice one.
Ok got to ask what made you get a little bluesy at the beginning??? Great cover as well!!!
Haha, it's a little homage to Alain's solo he did in live concerts before this song. Their 2005 Belfort performance has a good example!
@@TrisonBoyesMusic that's awesome I will need to check that out!!
May i know the chords
I have to say this is the best Acoustic cover ever for this song, it's as good as the original, you have great voice.
Amazing cover!
Great cover man!
This guy is very very good
Eh, he's mid at best 😅
Excellent! Love the opening effect you used too
Hell yeah!! Such a good tune!!

I'm going to operate under the assumption that this is just a way of getting to the singing bit and not a warning for when it starts 😅
@@TrisonBoyesMusic Oh no bro. Not a warning. :) This was for me. I wrote the lyrics on a piece of paper and sometimes I practice with you. I have no doubt that you normally do wonders with your introduction.:)
@@TrisonBoyesMusic By the way, I have been listening to qotsa for 20 years. It makes me so happy to see your acoustic covers on RUclips. And you have a great voice my friend. Thank you for your works. Loves from Turkey :)
Thanks man! I appreciate it. Hopefully you post up your version soon! I have a very self-deprecation heavy sense of humor to keep my ego in check 😅 also, its a little humbling to see the youtube analytics show the viewage drop off as soon as i start singing 🤣.
Awesome! I couldn't agree with your description more, I had a hard time with this album but the Acoustic version of Villains of circumstance I love. It seems there are a few different ways to play this, yours is quite faithful to the Videos of Josh Homme playing it live Acoustically.
😅 yeah i had definitely been watching josh's performances of this to figure out how to keep the energy up a bit. The chorus is great on this song but I always get nervous on acoustic covers of slow build songs. And don't get me wrong, i don't think the album is terrible or anything lol. It's just not what I'm looking for most of the time.
Dude!!!!!! Amazing work!!! I tried playing this and had trouble with it.. just wasn't sounding right so I gave up...
This is actually a sneaky difficult one to do on acoustic as it's so sparse in the original... Makes the acoustic parts very minimal. I went with a more faithful interpretation based on Josh's acoustic performances of it, but you can definitely change it up a bit as there's a lot of room.
@@TrisonBoyesMusic that's awesome!! That's the key with covers I feel like, make it your own! Show your passion and love for the music song not rinse and repeat.
Dude, yeah! I will be revisting this cover for quite some time. Awesome job !
Eeeeeeey! He’s back with another cheerful, fun……song. 😢
😅😅 this song hits different now in the context of ITNR eh?
Love this song ❤
Such a heavy song, every time I hear it, it hits hard. Great job with this cover, you never disappoint me with your work❤
This song really captures that feeling of having a hundred mile hole in your heart. Glad you think I did it justice!
Def got to get the whistle in it, this cover slaps!!!!
I just love how absolutely unhinged this song is 😅. Really captures the vibe of the album.
@@TrisonBoyesMusic indeed good sir!!! Feel like most people just know songs for the deaf on the outside and miss out on great songs!!
Where did you find this song??? I love this song!! Found it way back off of a "rarities album" that I think someone put together on RUclips had a picture of homme with a crown of thorns on it lol one of my favorites!! Such a good song!!
😅 One of my friends that used to do covers on youtube too had a cover of it as I had no idea about Josh's random side songs. My friend has unfortunately taken down his channel now, but mine remains.
Kind of been through the Lanegan discography and some really good and unique stuff coming from the screaming trees sound
Yeah this was a really deep cut 😅 I thought it was wild that Josh used parts of it for a TCV song! Must have given Lanegan a songwriting credit...
This was crazy good!! Nine inch nails another great band!! Nice to see some other covers done other than hurt by Johnny cash 😂 😅 oh by the way subscribed!!
Such a fun song!!! Was it hard to learn??
This one definitely took a little bit to figure out 😅 I had kind of an idea of introducing the different time signature guitar part in periodically and it was a right pain to figure out how it would work out. I don't think I quite got it, but it sounded good enough for the cover I thought.
Blue for the red sun great album!! Good job!! Those vocals are not easy!!
Nice cover!
This is way better then the original
Haha thanks friend! I wish this song was available on streaming sites and stuff... it's a good tune!
Nicely done!
Awesome
Looks like you almost got the whole album here done man!! Good stuff!!
Haha I think I have more than half... been meaning to complete the set at some point but I've been taking a bit of a break from youtube videos. Will try to get back into it soon... and finish covering this album in full!
Such a good opener to an album!! Good job!!!
Like clockwork is an underrated album in my opinion
Hommes lyrics are something else in this song... love it!! Nice work!!
Crazy how different homme's playing is from kyuss last album to qotsa self titled!!!
