V8 guy drives the Ford Lightning-My reactions
Thanks to @ford for the opportunity to have the truck. Here are my honest thoughts. This is not a full in depth review, there are plenty of videos for that, instead, this is my perspective of the F150 lightning as a muscle car enthusiast.
Any questions about the Lightning, comment below, I will try to address them.

I got a Ford V10 Triton Georgetown Class A Motorhome to celebrate my recent "retirement". I had a dream of relaxing in the gorgeous mountains of Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. It turned into just a pile of sweaty work for a week. I learned a lot, 1: if you find mouse poo in the RV, just send it back. 2: I'm not an RV person. We came home 1 week early. I love my F-150 Lightning!! I have a newer 2024 Toyota Highlighter and barely drive it. I charge at home and hardly ever go to the gas station. I get incredible fuel economy (roughly 70 miles per equivalent gallon). I also virtually have no maintenance
This is the best daily driver on the planet If you live the suburban lifestyle. I have no problem taking mine from the beach to the highest point on the East Coast in the dead of winter to go skiing and I have the standard range. This thing is a beast in the snow too
Well well well finally found the alt channel!!!
Change is difficult, first off if you have a home use home charging. If you have work charging use that. And if on a road trip get the Tesla adapter (as you have on your video). We all grew up with gas and going to a gas station. The life style is different and at the end of the day if you do the math and use home charging you can save $$$ (thousands) a year just in fueling costs. That is not to mention the oil changes, transmission and diff, to me that it worth it. In general if you drive an EV once and give it a chance an EV will do everything you want today for 80% to 90% of people. There are some who claim or really need towing long range, for those get a Super Duty. Or if it's for the once or twice a year to the lake, you might reconsider or look at a Silverado EV or Sierra EV which has the range much closer to a traditional truck. (Charging pull through is getting better so this becomes less of an issue). I like the look of the Lightning traditional F-150, but at the end the range and charging speed moved me to a GM product. I used to have a F-150 ecoboosts, moved to an EV truck as it can do everything the eco boost would. Thanks for your perspective.
EV is best for daily driving. No fuss just get in and do your errand and charge up at the end of the day. No gas fill up no oil change :). You can save a gas car for those one or twice a year long road trip.
Great honest review. Thanks!
The Lightning is done half a.. It’s a gas F150 traditionally. It’s not an EV from the ground up. It sucks.
You do realize that if you owned an EV you will almost never use a charging station. It’s the whole point. The charging station is your driveway!! The most convenient possible location.
Great review, if I had to deal with the public charging network on regular basis it wouldn’t be worth it for me. I miss my Raptor / TRX sound but not the 10mpg fuel costs weekly, service costs, or even stopping for fuel. I wish I could have both one for play one for my 40-45 min commute. The 50/50 weight distribution, matrix led headlights, frunk, ability to have 120/240v plugs on demand, independent suspension and instant torque are what make the Lightning such a great truck for me. Great job on the review.
Great review! Only one thing I would dispute. There is actually no need to constantly plan for charging. With home charging it’s ready to go every day when you walk out into the garage, so there’s actually less planning needed than a traditional gas vehicle.
Nice video. The EV life is def different. I had a Tesla and now have a Ram 1500 with a Borla S-Type exhaust. I love the truck life but there are things about the tech in the Tesla that I loved.
Thanks for a honest review. I personally think ev for everything but towing mor then the battery reach. I have 4 trucks no ev yet but one will fit my use for local work. I really want tesla fsd. Unfortunately that means tesla cybertruck currently. I don't need it to be to flashy for work tho. I was considering a body swap because of that lol
Here is the truck I NEED: I put a 600-pound motorcycle in the 6.5 foot long bed (it must be 6.5 feet) and go like hell to our Up North cabin. It is a 360-mile round trip. We also go up in the winter (cold!) to ride snowmobiles and again I sometimes need to haul a 600-pound snowmobile. I set the cruise at 88-mph--YES--I'm speeding. :). We need to get there fast and maximize our Up North time. I don't park the truck in the garage--that is where I keep several those motorcycles--and my never to see rain sports car. What's out there? Are EVs for me?
I have coolers built into my ram 1500 gasser
Bros grass willl be more expensive than his house.
Davinci Resolve is really powerful editing software and 100% free
If you're willing not to change your habits, then this is not for you. It's like saying "I need a sports car but I bought a van". These EVs are for specific individuals who are willing to work with it. The fact that Hyundai has an EV that can eat super cars for breakfast, the whole replacement for displacement and noise is mute.
Drop the monsters and switch to Jocko drinks. Wean yourself off that way.
I wish they would make the front look more like a regular f150. Get rid of that weird front grill and light bar. Make it hard to tell the difference between a gas f150 and an EV f150
I've got a Kia EV6, it's my first EV. It has been great and I've really liked it, however, the rate of depreciation on EVs is crazy. I drive a lot and so i've been putting the miles on it, and it seems that mileage effects EV aftermarket rates much more than combustion engine vehicles, not to mention there's that fear when you get closer to the 100k mark that you're potentially going to be needing a new battery soon, which no one wants to pay for. So maybe you save on fuel and maintenance at the beginning, but that savings catches up to you if you need to replace a battery? Or does every EV owner try to ditch it at 60k miles or so? I'm not sure, time will tell.
I got a 2023 Lariat and I love it
I own a Tesla model X. But I love the F150 lightning. I love the blue oval
I like that there's a power button
It's one of my least favorite parts of our lighting. We have a Tesla as well and the power button is just an un-needed step. When I first got it I would just leave it running. Pretty annoying.
What a beautiful truck! I'm in love.
Ev is the future. When gas goes up to $9 a gallon you might change your mind
When everyone is on the electrical grid and you pay the same price or more to charge your electric vehicle, you’ll regret ever pushing fuel away. Electric has its place in the automotive industry but not as the main power source. Both options are a necessity for the upcoming future
Why do you have to public charge so much? Do you drive more than 300 miles daily?
Again folks who are not willing to compromise and/or change their mindset.
I've owned a Lightning for a year now, 90% of my charging is done at home. The only time I use fast chargers is away from the city like recently going to Dallas. .12¢/kw that's my electricity rate at home , I've saved a ton coming from a 2006 Tacoma Sport with a 17 gallons tank and 18mpg. Zero maintenance except tire rotation @ 10k miles. Going electric is a no brainer at this point especially with all the reliable Tesla Superchargers for long road trip.
I’m sorry but I couldn’t pay attention with the suspense of the hat falling. 3:26
Same. I make one 16oz last 3 days. I know. I feel like a loser. Stupid. Freakin Sunrise orange.
Home charger here. Nothing better here in MN is watching people stand by gas pumps in -10F while I smile and wave.
Well your looking good brother.
You said a beautiful Mach e, you are an Ev guy! Poser
An ev guy? While he owns several v8 muscle cars, and hasn't even owned an electric car? Ok
@@jointhefist1016 Yeah thats a laugher
giving this truck a second thought because of the baby burlacher rn
Ironic timing. Ford recalled certain 2023-2024 F-150 Lightning BEV vehicles. The automobile manufacturer said in the NHTSA recall report that the front upper control arm ball joint nut may not be tightened properly. A detached control arm can cause a loss of vehicle steering and control, the report said.
I havent seen it yet on internet or from FORD.
I too am an F-150 guy. However, I'm not tied to the big V8 and all that. My F-150 has the small V6. But it does everything I needed to do. And it's a great trip vehicle. Because Ford has in their infinite wisdom, decided not to do a phev F-150. I've put my name on the list for the upcoming ramcharger. Having a vehicle that runs on batteries but has an internal charger that recharges. The batteries using gasoline for long trips is ideal for me. Any thoughts on that?
I think the f150 has a hybrid. I hear it's bad. Too many problems.
@@comicrandomness3289 The F150 hybrid is an electric assist type - it uses an electric motor in conjunction with the ICE to give more horsepower using less gas. It has no ability to run on electric only.
Maybe Wife-B needs a this lightning f150 ? This lookin so cool and better than subaru in your garage or driveway
How about it you drink 1 every other day? Or 1 every 3 days.
Coffee is the better alternative
Get a soda maker and make a healthier drink
😮😂
One a day
You're definitely gonna need to cut back there, buddy !!!
I understand the 'charging station' issue. You haven't really lived the "EV lifestyle" until you have a charging station at home. I'm on my 3rd EV lease, and I certainly don't miss having to go to gas stations. Being able to fill up every night at home is one of the biggest advantages of EV ownership. The only time I use public charging is on an occasional road trip. If you plan your potty/lunch stops around a DC fast charger, it is not even a problem on trips....my next EV will be a Ford F150 or a Chevy Silverado EV.
I get it what I can say is just stop drinking it as much as possible till you forget about it. Then an occasional drink won’t kill you. But to start keep up the week moto then switch to twice a month till you forget about it.
Sire you have an addiction. Not saying you have to fix it, just letting you know.
Drinking sugary drinks regularly increases your risk of becoming overweight/obese by over 30%. Stop before it gets out of hand water does the trick, and for tiredness just sleep earlier!
Do 4 times a week
As someone that knows a person that owned a Mustang Mach E for a while the ultimate downside to it is if you do not have a charging station in your home, you will find yourself having to drive to a station which could become rather annoying if you have to do a multiple times a week.
If a person buys an EV and cant charge at home, well they shoulnt a bought it....yiiikes!!
Toyota gave me their hydrogen car to promote on social media and I returned it after 3 days it was so bad lol
That's just a scam 😂 why would anyone buy a hydrogen vehicle there just evs with extra steps 😂
@@mcsike7264 oh they are super lame. and the cost to fill them is wild. It was like $75 each time to fill it up, and it got about 300 miles to the tank. There are only 2 stations in the whole SF Bay Area to fill them up.
@@thatoddtodd 300miles i can achieve the more range for cheaper in my tesla model 3😂 i get 370miles
@@mcsike7264 Yeah they have to find a way to produce hydrogen cheaply and it requires ALOT of energy to produce. Thats the big hope of fusion.
Dude this was really well done
