So their flag and anthem being featured in the intro isn't too inaccurate.

Italy is there, it's just shown after the video ends. If you see the full scene you can find the Italian flag in the background with Marcia Reale playing.

A very good point. I imagine the directors didn't want that and the UK anthem on account that they both have the same melody.

@@MichaelJ44 that is likely the most plausible explanation-the writers clearly knew as the correct anthem was played for Imperial Russia

They used the Austro-Hungarian anthem as the anthem of the German Empire. The German anthem at this time was the same melody as the British anthem. They must have decided this would be a step too far for the understanding of the audience so changed things around and dropped Austria Hungary altogether.

A detail that should obviously be there, but is nice to see anyway, is that Russia plays 'God Save The Tsar' and the Star Spangled Banner isn't being played as it hadn't been adopted as anthem until 1931

It is the film's opening scene, showing the foreign powers inside Beijing (or Pekin), on their usual day… before the Boxer Revolt.

This scene is basically showing China being under Colonisation from the countries shown. These countries came under an 8 Nation Allliance to supress the Boxer Rebellion which is what this film is about, though it's entirely focused on the Siege of the Peking International Legations and the Battle of Peking. A must watch imo

this isn't the opium war, this is the boxer rebellion. No China dosen't have the global south why would it? india Philipines, vietnam Myanmar all resist chinese imperialism. Russia is a dying power also lol. The US defeated the USSR when it still had its colonial empire, (eastenr europe, central asia, Caucasus) and now the US population grows every day whilst Russia sends its young men to pass in the fields of donbass and one ruble is worth less than 1 us cent. and now the west is stronger than before with All of central and eastern europe on board.

@@dubbleg2932 Paradox hired Lab42 for console and they were tragic. They ended up blocking everyone and Twitter who asked for updates. I've got plenty of audio issues myself but that's the worst of it. Luckily Lab42 have been sacked now but it's still broken for alot of people

I'll keep it simple. When the game first started, I married my heir to Polands heir. Years later, when I control my heir who's married to the King of Poland, they had a few children. The King of Poland then passed away, which made my Son become the King of Poland. So we have my son, the King of Poland, and me, the Queen of Hungary. When my character passed away, my title, as the monarch of Hungary, was inherited by my son, the King of Poland. Since my son is Hungarian, and he now controlled both titles, the two countries were merged into the Kingdom of Hungary.

It's nice when you're in the prosperity years of your Kingdom or Empire, and there's peace between vassals, taxes are going nicely. Then something happens, maybe a country wants your land, then it the panic, a vassal decides he wants independence and it turns to total chaos if you aren't prepared for it
