Homemade Chicken Feed and Feed Storage
Hope you enjoy!
Feed:
Equal parts cracked corn and oats
Half that amount in black oil sunflower seed
Three bags of split green pea (more or less if you want)
Some oyster shell for extra calcium
Got the barrels locally. Got the PVC at Lowe’s. I had to order the valves from Amazon because Lowe’s didn’t have valves that large.

Homemade Corn Cracker Using a Paper Shredder!
Просмотров 5655 месяцев назад
This is actually my second one I’ve made. The first one died on me. I took the paper shredder apart and then used a Dremel tool to cut the plastic to open it up wider so corn kernels would fit. Then I added the “barrier” around the inside (that you can’t see when it’s back together) using the same material as the funnel and superglue. This prevents the corn kernels from falling back into the ho...

How To Finish Old Barnwood for Indoor Use (Make it Beautiful)
Просмотров 17 тыс.3 года назад
I’ve been doing this to a lot of my old barnwood and made some furniture for indoors that always turns out beautiful. I’m using a 100 grit sandpaper pad (you can use 80-120 grit and still be okay in my opinion) for the first sanding. Then finish it with the MINWAX Polycrilic. Let it dry then sand it again with a 220 grit pad. Then hit it with another coat of Polycrilic. You can use the barnwood...

I’m retiring in the Philippines this summer. I have chickens and pigs. Feed costs are outrageous. I will pasture / free range and feed. I’m thinking of growing sunflower and sorghum and corn. The chickens eat the papaya, sweet potatoes and coconuts too. I want to compost all of my pig manure and grass cuttings also.

Would it work if I added just a dark stain color and clear coat in addition to your polycrylic coats?! I love the color but wondered if I could make it just a little darker. Complete newbie here so thank you so much for this awesome tutorial!

I have a boot/shoe stand I made out of the barnwood that stays outside on a covered porch. I used an outdoor stain on it and it’s darker for sure. You can’t see the wood grain as much but it’s still pretty. I would say it depends on what your intended use is. And you can get lighter stains as well.

Yeah it dries clear so you can’t see them. I still try to finish each area with a stroke all going the same way so it blends well.

You know you’re getting good wood work advice when the guy pronounces “wet” as if it had a Y somewhere in it ❤
