At 1:10 that is a reecom radio adapter

The on/off button is for turning on and off weather alerts. Just like on the WR120, when it is turned off it disables the whole radio. It has to be on for the radio to work, otherwise it will just beep no matter what button you push.

it would have been more benefical if you would have shown how you hooked up and configured the system to overide. There is nothing on youtube that shows how to configure, setup (wiring) and then test or even have it automated when an alert happens. Though you are one of the better video for a simple demo.

The siren system was NOT decommissioned. Most were replaced with upgraded sirens and some sirens relocated onto tall poles throughout the city

-This old Firefighter worked Station 8 Denver in 1970--- Wow that was 54 years ago, right after it opened-- At that time we ran Pumper 8, not called an Engine in those days, Snorkel 8 an 85' rig, and Squad 8 which I worked on and dearly loved. I did 42 years in the Fire service and loved every day of it. I went on to work Miami-Dade 28 years with many of them on Telesquirt 2 (S-2) and S-11 both at times the busiest trucks in the country. I was blessed.

Even if the call volumes have been obscured, Los Angeles Light Force 11 has since dominated Denver Truck 4 over being the busiest truck company since our homeless crisis has gone up in smoke 😭

Not very descriptive with what wires on the cord are positive and negative. Also, you should probably strip the white and black wires a little bit

It’s actually still here as of 2023 we are going to Denver tomarrow and we will check up on it but we went and saw it. Btw this was my first ever thunderbolt siren I’ve seen.

I own one of these, and this is what I can come up with: [ PROS ] - Best screen interface of any weather radios that I've come across that isn't a literal LED screen. - One of the clearest sound quality for a weather radio. - Radio DXing is possible if you're into that sorta stuff. - Options to disable certain warnings are available such as Amber Alerts. [ PRO or CON ] - Alarm is intensely loud. Depending on what you're looking for this can be a good or a bad thing. [ CONS ] - Abysmal battery life (fatal flaw). Does not last more than a couple hours. Basically becomes useless if you don't have it plugged in. Have rechargeable batteries with you. - CT (clock tuning) isn't always accurate, so the clock display isn't as credible. - The fading from the alarm tone to the radio can cut off a few snippets of the message. I would recommend if you like your radios loud and scary, a heavy sleeper or like detailed things. I would avoid if you live in noise-sensitive environments or need to use it portably.

This was probably when Boulder’s computers were down and Pueblo had to take over for some time.

I was NOT liveduring this event because we were under NO risk for severe weather (according to the SPC)

Born and grown up in Denver all my life. Denver around 2009-2013 replaced there existing cold war system with the newer 2001-130’s or replaced the control boxes on there already existing 2001’s. The only still existing siren that I know of from Denvers old system is a 1000T that sits on top of Station 26. Brewing Co. that used to be the Old Station 26 firehouse. That T-Bolt hasnt been turned on since 2009 I think.

Heard back from englewood about their testing schedule (actually had to email Arapahoe county bc englewood doesn’t check their emails but whatever) they said they test every second Wednesday at 11, but didn’t specify if they just growl or do a full alert. I’m going to check it out whenever I can.

Nice purchase! The CT button is supposed to make its clock sync up with the time transmitted from an FM RBDS station, but I don’t have any that do that, so I don’t know how well that works.
