Why Many Professional Artists Lose Their Passion for Creating

      Absolutely, they'll always accept it. Book Bolt doesn't use AI to generate the puzzles so there will never be a problem with them. And as for AI, as long as you identify that the book was created using AI when you upload it to KDP, you're fine.

I always thought it would be confusing to people if I talked about how I made money on my channel but your video made it make sense so I’m going to start doing that! Also…I just received the second proof of my medium content book today! Almost ready to publish (I’m still working on the pdf that goes with it that you suggested which was brilliant!). I can’t wait to share it with my viewers because it goes along with my YT channel. Do you know if you can pre-launch your medium content book and people can pre-order it? Also, I started a journal business with my daughters for a homeschool project and we just added a+ content, using your video as a guide. Seriously, you rock. Anyway, thanks so much!!

    Don't you have to leave space on back cover where Amazon barcode goes?

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin 8 дней назад

      The barcode that Amazon places on your book will be a rectangular box with a white background, so any illustration that you have in that bottom right hand corner on the back of your book will be covered up. That's why I recommend in the video not to place any important text or imagery in that area. The coral along the bottom of the book in this example is not important, so it can be covered by the barcode.

      This isn't about creating Sudoku's for yourself, this is creating books you can sell on Amazon to make income. And if you're selling content that already exists on Amazon (like pre-made Sudoku's you purchase that other sellers are also using), then there's a really good chance that your book will be removed and your seller's account terminated for using duplicate content.

    Hi Craig, thank you for this amazing video. I have two questions: once you've purchased the domain, where do you create a website? And the website is supposed to send people to my Amazon? Sorry about the confusion, I'm wondering whether I need a website in addition to the landing page and if the website is images + links to Amazon. Thank you so much for your help and for all this wonderful content!

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin 13 дней назад

      You don't necessarily need a website, just as long as you have your Amazon author page set up. You can use that as your website and drive all of your traffic from your social media to that. All you have to do is forward your custom domain to the author page. That being said, many of the biggest authors do still use websites. It allows them to do promotional giveaways, as well as collect email addresses that can be used to market their new books to. But you're right, a landing page would also work just fine. Sites like Wix.com and Squarespace.com can be used to do that.

    Great video Craig. One thing I am not sure of is buying the copy through Amazon vs mailing an author copy to the influencer. I thought we weren't allowed to buy our own books since it could artificially affect the ranking? So you are saying that you would buy a copy of your book on Amazon and change the shipping address to that of the influencer's? And this give you a royalty, is free shipping for you, and is ok by Amazon standards?

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin 26 дней назад

      Amazon is fine with you buying your own books. You don't want to give author copies to people because those copies have the author proof mark in them. Amazon actually encourages you to purchase at least a few of your own books when you launch your book. First, it allows you to see the actual finished product that the customer is going to receive. And secondly, it gives your book a sales ranking, which you don't get until you actually sell a book. And besides, wouldn't you want to own the first published copy of your own book? Now if you abuse the system and purchase thousands of copies, that's a different story. But giving away a dozen copies as gifts is fine. Yes, you are receiving a royalty when you do that, but it's you who is paying for that royalty when you purchase the book at full price. If you do public book signings at a comic con, you have to order copies of your book to sign. You can't use author copies because of the proof mark. So authors who make graffic novels, and who self publish through KDP, do this all the time. They may purchase 100 copies or more at a time to resell at trade shows.

    Thank you so much. I am so exhausted seeing same message again and again. would you please guide me. my book size is 8.5x11. Thank you so much in advance. """ We checked your files and found issues you need to fix before your book can be published on KDP: Cover Reduce the size of your spine text in your cover file. Spine text needs at least 0.0625" (1.6 mm) space on either side so that it doesn't wrap onto the front or back cover Interior Your file contains insufficient bleed. See examples PDF page(s) 1. 1. Ensure the page(s) are sized correctly for bleed. Interiors with bleed should have 0.125" (3.2 mm) added to the width and 0.25" (6.4 mm) to the page height. 2. If the pages are already sized for bleed, make sure you extend any images and backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page at least 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents white gaps along the outside edge(s) when the file is trimmed to size. 3. If there is content that is not intended to bleed, please ensure it stops within the margins, 0.375" (9.5 mm) or more from any outside edge of the page."""

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin Месяц назад

      Okay, so for the cover comment, they're simply saying that your book doesn't have enough pages in it to allow for the text on your spine to be as large as you have it. So either add more pages to your book to make the spine wider, or reduce the size of your text. As for the bleed comment, just do exactly what I said to do in the video. You're book is 8.5"x11", so when creating your book document, use the dimensions 8.625" x 11.25". These are the dimensions of your 8.5"x11" book "with bleed". Now just make sure that all of your images go past (hang over) the edge of your bleed. That will eliminate any white spaces. Now any images that you don't want going to the edge of the page in your finished book, keep those images inside of your margins. That means that those images should be at least 0.25" inside the edge of your page. Not 0.25" inside the "bleed" mark, but inside where the book will be cropped. Let's say that you create your book as 8.5" x 11" and you set your margin at 0.25" all the way around. Then you decide to change your books dimensions to bleed dimensions which are 8.625" x 11.25". If you leave your current margins set at 0.25", then when you book is cropped and KDP removes the 0.125" bleed all the way around, your book margins are only going to be 0.125", not 0.25" like you wanted. So you need to make sure that if you change your document size to the bleed dimensions, that you add 0.125" to your 0.25" margin size (which equals 0.375") to account for the 0.125" that KDP is going to cut off of the edge of your book. This will once again leave your margins at the 0.25" width, once the book is printed. Any images that are not going to be bleed to the edge of the book should be kept inside of the 0.375" margin. So when you submit your book to KDP, you're going to submit it as having bleed, and it's dimensions will be 8.625" x 11.25". And then after KDP prints your book, (because you choose "with bleed" in the set up) they are going to cut off the extra 0.125" on the top, bottom and outer edge of your book, bringing it's size back to 8.5" x 11".

And I'm sick of following divisive politics for a living. I've also been digitally painting whimsical wildlife art for more than a decade, selling my own prints, licensing the art on several products and that part of my business grows more each year. But at 53, I'm looking to more stability in my senior years, too. And though I've done process videos before with narration, (for Wacom, even), I've let my channel slide and stagnate. Looking to learn how to better diversify, sell digital downloads, clipart, brushes, process videos, etc. But I've felt lost, paralyzed by perfectionism and fear. Looks like there are several hours available on your fantastic channel to help get me back on track and pivot to a new phase of my career, one without politics and newspapers. THANK YOU. I shall begin applying your suggestions today. Each tip was excellent, the ones that especially caught my attention were tips on the Author page, LinkTree, Book cover Mockups, and categories. Again many thanks. I am looking forward to success and expanding my collection. Cheers, Marian

    Hi, Craig! Thank you so much for this video. I really appreciate it and I bought your interior bundle, as well. I have one question: I started making a puzzle book but I have too many pages...can I delete unwanted pages? Or do I need to start all over again? Thanks!

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin Месяц назад

      If you look in the left hand column where your pages are laid out for you vertically, all you have to do is right click on the page you want to delete, and then choose "delete" form the popup menu.

    How do you do a double page spread in bookbolt

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin Месяц назад

      Choose the two pages you want to use for your spread; remember, the first page of your book is a single page, every two consecutive pages after that are part of a spread. (ie 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, etc.). If your book is an 8x10 book, make sure that it's set up for bleed, and make sure that the graphic you want to put on the spread is 16x10 (the exact size of the spread). Then, paste the image on the left page (ie page 2) first and make sure that the left side of the image is perfectly aligned with the left edge of the page. The right half of the image will be hanging off of the right side of the artboard. Then, paste that same image on the right page (ie page 3) of the spread, and make sure the the right side of the image is perfectly aligned to the right side of the page. Now the left side of the image will be hanging off of the left side of the artboard. If your image is perfectly aligned to both the top and bottom edges of each page, then when you render out your book from Book Bolt as a PDF, the right side of page 2 (the gutter) and the left side of page 3 (the gutter) should line up perfectly.

    So you actually only post a thumbnail on Pinterest and link to the vid on youtube? Do you always do that? Any way of knowing if that actually brings traffic?

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin Месяц назад

      If you watch the video, it shows you that RUclips analytics breaks down where your external traffic is coming from. And it is a great way for small channels to get their initial traffic, and to teach the RUclips algorithm who to show your videos to. I personally don't use it anymore because RUclips knows who my target audience is. But that being said, my pins on Pinterest still bring traffic to my channel even to this day.

    This felt like an intro to Amazon Ads. I did not see any tactics

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin 2 месяца назад

      How you choose to use the tools Amazon gives you for advertising and how you approach the research are a big part of the tactics. You could easily just let Amazon do everything for you including bids, keyword generation, etc. That would also be a possible tactic, but I show you in this video how to do all of that manually to get better control and results. But there is only so much you can do within Amazon ads. If you're looking for ways to promote your books outside of Amazon, then check out this video here: ruclips.net/video/PTGSBGr2PU4/видео.htmlsi=J1CcNiZYPc6gmQ_e

    do you always have to make a "Shorts (vertical)" version of your video and a normal RUclips version as the Shorts version doesnt appear under your channel "Videos" section and therefor people think it looks empty and dont subscribe or is there another way? If you need to do two versions then you have to refilm in vertical and horizontal or? How do you do it as to save time and work?

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin 2 месяца назад

      You don't have to do shorts, many very successful channels don't. But if you are going to do them then you want to be filming yourself directly in the center of the screen with approximately 1/3 background on either side of you. That way you can just crop out the back on either side of you for the vertical short video. The key is to shoot a longer form video and then make a couple of shorts from that footage that you can use to further promote the long form video on other platforms.

      @@CraigBabin Well, i do coloring vids for KDP so I ll have to see how that can be done. What would you recommend as I am not in the vid but only different transitions of the coloring book and me coloring it.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin Месяц назад

      @@SarahSunray You just create a vertical version of your RUclips thumbnail, that promotes your video. And in the Pinterest pin, you can also add in some additional details about the video, to try and entice the person clicking on your pin, to head over to the video. You don't have to be in the video, you just need to make it clear to the Pinterest audience that your video is a how to color tutorial for people of a certain skill level. I noticed that most of your videos are fairly short. Even your long form content feels like a short video. Does Bookbolt only list Sellers who are independent publishers? I noticed some of the top BSR books do not show up in my listings and when I search by the seller the results show 0. Thanks!!

    Hi, I dont get how collecting lots of pins from other people is supposed to be of promo value to you if their pins all lead somewhere else and not to your destination

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin 2 месяца назад

      The pins from others are what draw people to follow your page. The key is to have a folder that contains only your stuff, as well as to mix some of your own stuff in with the other pins. It's like how musicians on RUclips perform cover songs from other famous artists, on their channel, to get people to watch their videos and subscribe; which ends up introducing those subscribers to their original music as well. Music that those subscribers probably wouldn't have clicked on if it weren't for the cover songs.

    I've asked this question before, you are not the first to suggest that the page-turner be checked as Left to Right? I'm American and I turn my pages from right to left. Please help me understand this

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin 2 месяца назад

      "Turn" is actually a bad word for KDP to use here. They should have used the word page "direction". That's actually what they're referring to. What they're basically asking you is, do you start reading on the left page and then "turn" (your head) to the right page, or do you start on the right page and then turn to the left page.

    • @michaelgreen4935
      @michaelgreen4935 2 месяца назад

      @@CraigBabin That makes sense. I am not an avid reader but what I have read all the chapters seem to start on the right hand of the page, and sometimes that chapter ends on the right, so then you would turn the page for the next chapter and begin on the left page. Oh well, it will be clear once I get into it. I’m sure. Thank you so much for your getting back with me. Have a good night!
