After watching this video, I realized whats crazy is that most movies either can afford or have just one or maybe two big great actors who will drive the movie with a bunch of other small talented actors that are great for the part that they are cast in. Take avengers 1 for example, except RDJ and Sam Jackson, rest of the cast is just good talented actors perfectly cast, yet still honing their skills. I must say over the years, Jeremy renner, Scarlett Johannson and Mark ruffalo have greatly improved and made their filmographies awesome, but that wasnt the case back in 2012. Now, compare that to the The Dark Knight and TDKR star cast. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Heath ledger, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Marion cottilard, Anne hathway are some of the best the industry has to offer. Kudos to Nolan and Warner / DC for getting that kind of star cast just between 2 films.

As much as I love actors like Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicolson, Woody Allen, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, etc. who are all brilliant, but basically the same in every movie, they pale into insignificance compared to more transformative actors. Gary Oldman, Christian Bale, John Hurt, Alec Guinness, Daniel Day Lewis, Peter Sellers, even Hugh Grant in recent years. I was about to suggest it maybe a British thing, then suddenly remembered the woman out of I Tonya, Allison Janney, then Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep and Jim Carrey. In fact, there's probably hundreds more. So maybe I just like character actors more than traditional leading men and women. Or maybe those actors just get offered the more challenging roles.

I first saw him in American Psycho and thought, "Who tf is this guy?" Haven't been disappointed since. Empire of the Sun is one of the few movies that I haven't seen with him. It came out when I was 7, wasn't really on my radar, but I will definitely make an effort to watch it.

I grew up with Clint Eastwood movies. He was the best. When I created my coffee catering truck in LA, Like A Boss (since sold it but it is still in business), I used his most famous line and changed it slightly to " Go ahead, make my latte", and people loved it. The man who created that character, John Milius(who created Conan, Apocalypse Now), years later his ex-wife Cillia, saw my truck at a fund-raising event and stopped me to take a photo of the graphic on the truck. I sent her a t-shirt. Everyone loves Clint!

Clint Eastwood is a 100 million dollar baby... awesome guy.

It sounds to me he's mainly a visual/technical guy and not much of an actor's director. Which isn't to say that the performances in his films are bad, it just seems as though it isn't his biggest priority on set (which makes sense, given the types of films he makes).

I really like Tom Hardy, but it's a massive bit of hyperbole for Hathaway to call him one of the best actors of his generation or of all time...lol He is always him, which is fine, and he is talented, a lot like Cillian Murphy. Cillian is never a nice guy, he is a quiet guy... he acts shy but he isn't, he is always watching... he has more range than Hardy and it shows. If he can do comedy he will be one of the greats, but I wanna see Bale get his Oscar!!!

Tom Hardy has gotten big, and he bulked up for his role in Batman, and it cracks me up to see his reaction to Bale and talking about fighting scenes with him.

There's a saying for ground floor workers. The best Forman's are the ones that used to be ground floor workers. I'm starting to feel it might be the same for directors. The ones that used to be actors knows the drills, knows how the actors feel. And do a better job with the actors. Course this isn't true in all cases, and there's many good Forman's and directors that do amazing work having never been ground floor workers or actors.
