Yeah, there are places where you recycle. We do in kitchener, at least where I used to live, bottles and plastic goes in the dark green bean, boxes and papers in a blue bin, and then compost and food waste goes in a light long green bin. And some other places too in Ontario, where I live now.

What church do you attend?

Hi Lape, actually enjoyed watching and couldn’t help laughing when you talked about Oilers. It’s almost like a cult following here and one of the shocks I experienced too when I moved to Edmonton mid last year from Nigeria. My colleagues brother got us tickets to watch one of their game from a very nice vantage point in Rogers Place last year October and let me tell you, I actually love it!😄 (football remains my first love though.) Honestly share your sentiments in terms of your observations living in Edmonton so far. When I was doing my research before moving, I also came across the deadmonton narrative hehe and while I agree that the night life does not come close to what you’ll find in some of the world class cities, personally that’s not a challenge at all because it’s not my kind of fun. I’ll rather go to parks, and lakes and try out new food and hang out with friends and Edmonton and environs have an abundance of that. I think one other key thing I’ve also noticed living here for almost a year is the warmth of the people. There’s a lot of talk about westerners generally being cold and reserved (unlike in Naija where we’re in each other’s business lol) but in Edmonton, people greet you with a smile, hold the door for you and generally just try to be warm. Might be a Canadian thing though but I hear people in Edmonton talk about a lot. In all, home is where we decide to make of it and these days, I’m leaning towards less comparison and more of enjoying and making the best of wherever I find myself. Also, about the community you mentioned, I can totally relate and at some point, I even prayed for it because I love love having a community and it was so tough leaving my community in Nigeria. Right now, I’m beginning to build a community of awesome people here with shared values and I’m so excited for it. So it definitely gets better!

Please which areas are best to purchase a house in Edmonton? What do you think about the South west area?

I also moved from KW to Edmonton and was able to buy a new build as a first time home buyer. That felt out of reach for me in KW and GTA
