This is actually a pretty neat phenomenon similar to why a campfire smoke always blows towards the person sitting by it. Think of it as normally without the auger the wind blows on each side of the trailer evenly. Now imagine putting the auger on one side of the trailer, suddenly there can't be as much wind on that side because the auger is in the way. This results in more wind blowing on the opposite side which blows all the dust towards the auger.
