I bought this bike a few days ago. Over the winter I'm going to watch all your videos regarding the Mean Streak. Thank you for taking the time to record and share them with us. Do you happen to know the color code of this orange color - maybe 230 Candy Gold Spark? The side covers will need a paint job on mine, might as well get the whole bike painted. This color I like the most.
You just said that brake fluids are interchangeable. They are NOT interchangeable. And most definitely DO NOT mix them. If you do change fluid types make sure to get ALL of the old fluid out of the lines first. And DOT 5 is a silicone based fluid, and should not be used in applications that do not specifically call for it.
Hey thanks for this Vid. I know its a few years old now but I'm about to change chain and sprockets on my DR for the first time so this was very, very helpful. Thanks.
Right on man! Excellent video!
Had a GT550 shaft drive that locked the rear wheel as I approached a junction onto thd A40. Really put me off. Didnt drop it but it was pretty hairy. Saying that had a chain fly off my GPz900r too, fortunately no one behind be. Guess it could have wrapped around front sprocket. Im much older now and always fancied a 1150. You posted this video a good few years back, any further update on life with it?
Hey, I actually sold this one awhile back but then regretted it and bought another🤣 New one going well everything I said in the video still stands. They are a great bike
Witaj. Kolego moj przewod od prawej manetki pękł przy wejściu w otor od domu na kierownicy. Zeby go wyciagnac musze sciagnac cala manetke ? Pozdrawiam
Excellent information, thank you!
Hello! Thank you so much for this! I am learning, so please bear with me! I want to install a USB charging port on my DR. If I get the eastern beaver 2 pin connector, does it matter what connectors are on the end of the usb unit I buy or can I simply cut them off, strip the wire, and put the eastern beaver pin on them? This is the one I am considering: GOBGOD USB C Car Charger Socket 12V/24V USB Outlet, 36W Dual Quick Charge 3.0 Car Dual USB Port with LED & Touch Switch DIY Car Socket Thank you so much for your help! Subscribed and looking forward to watching your videos!
Yes if you get the eastern beaver plug with pins you can just cut off what ever comes on your usb and crimp them on and plug straight into your bike
@@MOTODANS thank you!!
Hi there, I’m looking to wire in a charge mount quad lock to my GS but the factory fuse box is pretty slim pickings for ignition live sources. Can you use a fuse tap from the RID / power socket fuse or is the RID a bit iffy to tap from ??
If you are going to do a fuse tap. That would be the best option or the tail light fuse
Great video, where are you measuring from and to on the rear shock?
No need to measure the rear just look at where the bolt is located in the bottom. Lower position is stock height and upper position is lowered
I just installed this headlight on my 2023 XR650L and it is sooooo much better than the stock headlight. Highly recommend and worth every penny!
Hey there man I hope you’re fine, yesterday y was working on my bike and just changed the fuel filter and reconnected everything and the bike won’t start, there is no fuel flow and my fuel pump works as it sounds, when I press the starter it moves the engine but there is no fire at all, spark plugs are sparking but fuel injectors the have a very poor spray almost nothing and as well there is no spark or pulse on them , any suggestions?
It ran fine before? Take the tank back off and double check everything you have touched. Make sure fuel lines are in correct orientation and not pinched. Make sure throttle cable seated in throttle body correctly. If you open the tank can you hear fuel spraying inside like there is a leak? How was the u bend? They are known for failing and if you did the filter good chance it was disturbed and now leaking.
@@MOTODANS right, I just finished doing it but there is no electrical current to the fuel injectors any recommendations? Everything else is fine now, thanks for answering first comment in advance
And it worked fine before? Did you unplug anything electrical under the tank? Check the fuses under the seat
@@MOTODANS checked everything, now a mechanic it’s attributing it to the hall sensor so does that makes sense ? Idk I think he’s trying to fool me but you tell me 👀
Could be they are a known fault. If it ran fine before? Would be quite a coincidence. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get one to eliminate it even if it doesn't fix it keep it as a spare. They can usually be repaired as well it's usually the wiring to the sensors rather than the sensors themselves
Great job, very impressive!
Best pies in NZ hands down
Thank you so much for this video. Great lighting and framing to see exactly what's going on the whole time - what a blessing! You rock.
Fuckn insane good shit man
14 front here ... good off-road...fine for secondary hiways around here
Great Video
What size do the filter tool (for original oilfilter) has? thx
Not best video. Would like to have seen the bags removed and longer showing the full process not a shortened version of what was done but concept is understoof
Thanks. One of the best full videos of walking through a process with no assumption that we know everything. Can wait to see removing rear tires on a bagger
You only had to remove the air box
You use more fuel at low revs with single cylinders. Higher rpm and reduce chugging on engine. Smaller boom at more frequency better than bigger booms less frequent
Hi Dan great video have you covered seat adjustment on video yet thanks
Hey Gerry, Thanks for watching. I mentioned it at the end of this video here when refitting the seat ruclips.net/video/9iMrRj4MF1s/видео.htmlsi=7r7bjwONHoVGDbts
Great video, Dan! Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge. I just bought a 1150 GSA and will do the basic services myself. I found your video very useful. All the best!
Perfect! Have the same problem. Will do this.
Great video! Thank you!
Still trying to find cam chain tensioner shims for my meanstreak ........
Hey Dan, you've been a bit quiet lately. Everything good?.
Everything all good, just busy with the kid. 👍 Thanks for checking in
@@MOTODANS Cool👍. Kids are a full time job eh😂.
@coobye Yep 🤣
@@MOTODANS Enjoy every minute with them mate, they grow up all too quick. Cheers.
I’m 210lbs 6ft tall and most of my bike is stock I don’t understand the hate for the seat
What is name and brand on clutch oil ? My 2008 Kawasaki 1600 mean streak.
@@jiaocen7865 Just dot 4 brake fluid I use Castrol but anything dot 4 will do
@@MOTODANS thank you
One VERY important procedure not shown is to place the cylinder to top dead center on compression stroke. If not there is a good chance the cam, can jump a tooth or two when you remove the tensioner. Then you have to remove engine and retime each cam.
Thanks for the vid most helpfull
Thank you
Does it matter what lead goes to what plug?
No it doesn't, from memory the caps are slightly different which would only be an issue if you had a big tank it may contact. But as far as the operation of them they both fire at the same time so makes no difference
Thanks for video👍
I'm surprised.why does no one bother with the fact that by increasing the stroke of the tensioner you violate the calculation of chain tension.as a result, this leads to the fact that the chain begins to saw the wells of candles, until the oil goes! Don't do that. If the tensioner is over, you need to change the chain, not extend the tensioner!
You have the best description by far on how this is done. Very direct , simple . Thank you. Im doing mine today.
Could a new starter be installed the same way?
@@RickReynolds-n4w Sure can
WOW! That was a rough day! There's no way I'd try to go through some of that stuff you did. I'm sure you didn't get up that morning and say, "Hey, I think I'll ride my DR up and down IN the river!" That was some absolutely gorgeous scenery, though. I'm glad you didn't get injured and thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching Tony. It was a day to remember for sure
Great video brother.
Why mirror the video? I don't get it ! 😕
@@davebarrowcliffe1289 Camera was upside down to get it low enough. Which is why I had to flip it
Thank you.
So you had to fix your gearbox at 10000K! Wow. Mine has 20000. Should I worry ? Any signs indicating a problem ?
@ericcournoyer1595 just fit a magnetic drain plug and look for a circlip. It only seems to affect 16-17-18 models and more than likely most people miss the bit coming out if they don't have a magnet plug
@@MOTODANS Thanks for the reply
Hi, Just discovered your vids. They’re really great for maintenance tips on my R1150GS! I want to install a sat nav and led beams and saw this video on the PC8 to connect to. However I cannot find where to order one… do you know a proper replacement for it?
Hey Joe, Thanks for watching. You can still get the pc8 direct from eastern beaver. There are many alternatives though. Fz1 fuze block is a well known one
Thank you!
Did Suzuki ever do anything regarding the gear issues in the newer bikes?
@astonebrook91 only gear issues I am aware of are the 16 17 models with the circlip. Part was never superceeded so would have just been a bad batch. Earlier models are known for 3rd gear blow ups no new ones have this happen I am aware of.
Unfortunately, this is the wrong way to go - the timing chain has been undersized from the first model in '89 to the present day. The chain is getting longer and longer, so it only helps to lengthen the chain tensioner for a short time. I have had very good experiences with DID chains, they are better than original Kawasaki chains.
Have the Dunlop Version of these {Im sure Shinko copied the D750} that come on the KLR 650 and Im impressed. For the intended purpose of the bike they suite it very well. They respond well to psi changes on/offroad.
I Laddie you not be twisting.
