You call it soil- not dirt. Soul has billions of living organisms and so it needs a little respect. Thanks. Video was informative.
I work as a horticulture tech and we got new varieties and I keep killing them. Idk what’s going on I used to keep them alive so long.
I am from Portugal but I currently live in the Netherlands, i both a spider plant when I move here one yer ago and its de small one the “ocean” but mine is full grownup and is really thinning, I think it my be the one that you are looking for.
Can.Bonnie spider plants lose their curl? If so, why? Your video.was great! You are knowable and are appreciated!
I dont know how to separate the plant without killing the roots and it is super over root bound and getting a lot of yellow leaves at the bottom please get back to me so i don't lose my plants I spent 70.00 on them. Please help me.
I bought a large curly spider plant and want to know how to separate them
I have a horrible invasion of spider plants that’s wiped out a large bed of lariope. A few lariope remain at the bed edges. I have dug out spider plant roots 3 times. The bulb roots seem impossible to kill. Spider plants have regrown. How can I get completely rid of this astoundingly invasive nuisance to replant lariope? Bryon Satterfield
I'm sorry to hear this, but where I live these plants do not live outside so I have had zero experience with this invasion.
Such a great video on spider plants! ❤
i have multiple spiderplants that are solid green very long leaves.. the plants have gotten quite larger than variegated varieties i have
Brown tips
What is the maximum size they get
Thank you Elisa - just what I needed as we start to embark on this rather daunting home school journey 😊
Hey! So any update on the 'ocean' ??? 3 years later
I found and bought Fire Flash seeds from Plantflix, after 13 days I have 5 sprouts. I also have a mama regular and a pot of her babies. Nice video, thanks!!!
Hi from Vancouver BC. I have 4 of the mandarin (fireflash) plants. I discovered this year that the 3 older ones that are on my closed in deck had flowered with a big (2-4”) rather ugly flower. I left them on the plants and let the seed pods on the flower dry up. When they became almost black I started shaking them onto paper and discovered hundreds of tiny seeds. I haven’t started any seeds yet because I thought I’d wait til spring to give them a better chance. So, if you can, let your fireflash plants get older and a bit leggy and they will reward you! Thanks for the video!
great tip! I hope I can see this happen
How can you keep your spider plant stand tall
I got a huwaian spider plant i was lucky to find it at the end of 2019 now i have so many because of the mother plant.
I have a baby reverse variegation from Canada, then got a variegated curly spider from interstate, Australia, then variegated "normal" spider? 😅 I would love a non variegated one... They're such beautiful plants
Thank you for the info. I have always had at least 1 spider plant in my plant collection. I did purchase a mandarin spider plant, not knowing that it was a spin off of the spider plant. I love the orange center. I did almost kill one by giving it full sunlight and all I had was stubs. I have cut it down, so just the orange was left, and planted in with my new one, and I believe it will be a vet full plant. I needed growing tips which I got from your vast knowledge. So thanks. Blessings.
Do all spider plants have babies
I have seen those plants at walmart didnt know was a spider plant
I love spider plants I got a pretty curly one
Thank you this was helpful. I find it hard to tell some of the types from others by the pictures. I am growing my collection of spider plants and currently have 4. It all started with a trade with someone.
If the plant is 25 years old is so small
The moment you said air purifying I stopped listening. I'm just beyond tired of dismissing this myth. NASA showed they filter out negligible amounts. You're going to need a little forest of these for them to actually have any air purifying effect.
Then I shall have a forest!
@@elisaliebelt1181 Still it's misinformation. You have a responsibility to be correct if you're influencing people.
@@luckybarrel7829 yup you are right, but they are listed as one of the best even if a small amount, so your air is slightly better than homes without them, I would say I would have plants no matter what, I love them and they bring me peace which I would say is even more of a boon for your health. When I did the research for this video I'm afraid the list only was a list, it didn't give the filtering amount. That's on me. I don't believe that most people who own plants have them for that reason, but it isn't a horrible side benefit even if small. People have plants because they are alive and beautiful. Thank you for your correction . It is noted and will be here in the comments for all.
@@elisaliebelt1181 Ok, thank you
This is the best spider plant video!🎉 I found all the answers to my plant. Moving him further away from the light and into a larger plant pronto!
I bought a plant on marketplace that is supposed to be a spider plane, was very root bound, all green leaves… I repotted it in a larger plant, I do See some New Shoots growing out of soil, but no babies or long shoots yet…. Still not convinced this is a spider plant!
there are forms or relatives that do not have babies.Give it plenty of light and wait and see.
Should I separate my spider plant when repotting, since there are 3 plants in the pot.
you can if they are big enough for individual pots but if they are doing well keep them together in a bigger pot.
How huck blood meal and bone meal should be given to a spider plant in a 10inch pot
Thanks for the overview of varieties , but I wanted a guide to care. My plants do not sprout babies and I don’t know why. No answer to that.
so if the are root bound or have too little light they will not sprout babies.
So, did the baby solid green spider plant turn out to be a true curly??? I have been searching for one for 4 years. I had one and it was destroyed when I moved. 😭😭😭
My spider plant is struggling brown leaves drooping also . I do have babies on it but I have only bought it like 3 weeks ago
loved how you said "plus they give babies❤" I love that about my spider plants... one rescued spider plant is currently blooming and I feel so so happy looking at it🎉
And I’ve been watching all the channel never have the same what I have I’m tell you there is a route coming too long and then the top is it like it take roots like balloons should I keep them or should I take them or what should I do
Hello I transferred my spider plan because it looks like small in a pot and it didn’t bloom that it didn’t get so much sleeves it get dries every time I took it out think is I seen like there’s a root and there is a balloon like a balloon on top of the roots what is it so I cut some of the root in the bottom and I plan to the game tell me if it’s right or wrong thank you
My kids got me a spider plant. I am happy to find videos on them :))
I love spider plants and it is so fun to share them!
Everything I grow in water dies 😩. Your plants are so beautiful. I’m going through my third one hopefully it won’t die. 🙏🏽
you really just have to keep trying different things in your conditions. I have had a lot of luck planting spider plants directly into dirt but you must keep the dirt wet.
Thank you very much💚🕊🙋🏻♀️☮️
Are they all pet safe?
Yes, spider plants are considered pet safe.
💚❤️🪴❤️💚
I’m a fan and thank you for the information.
Could I plant two different species of spider plants together?
so I have seen it done but not well. It starts good but then it seems like the dominant takes the nutrients at the expense of the others.
@@elisaliebelt1181 O’kay, thank you for the guidance. Appreciate the feedback
Thanks for sharing your tips
I love this plant, I just have 2 varieties, but I will keep my eye out for more! I have a wish list on my phone, for when I go to the nursery.
There is another type purple in Color
I must find it!
I always love spider plants and luckily I manages to keep 2 pots inside my house since many years ago .
Yes they are just wonderful little plants.
Loved your video. I had no idea that there were so many different kinds of spider plants. I got a big one from Walmart about six months ago. Long leaves with the white in the center. I keep waiting for babies to make more but nothing yet. How long do you think it may take before I see some babies? Thank you for all the information. It was very interesting.
not too long as long as it gets nice light but not scorching and plenty of water you will have little spider babies soon!
@@elisaliebelt1181 thank you for the reply! Best wishes!
.. I've got the variegated one with leaves up to 48 cm.. And all the babies on it too 😲.. Can't even see that I've taken off a great deal by now and the mother keeps coming up with more.. And then I've got the Mandarin too.. I would love to have the green one and the Hawaii , but unfortunately they are not available around here..
I have been upping my spider plant game. I agree they are overlooked! I know they are basic, but the huge ones are MAJESTIC! I picked up an 8" pot with two large solid green ones at a church rummage sale. I decided to repot it into two. It was solid root blobs and instead of soil, it was potted in what looked like straight sand. The poor plant! I gave it some good potting mix and compost and I bet both look amazing in a month. I can't believe they looked as reasonable as they did in SAND. Proof you can't kill these things - unless you forget them outside and they freeze.
Yes!! I love them. I feel like they can make any plant mom proud!
I bought 2 spider plants today with some vague knowledge going in, but now I love spider plants after watching this! 😍 you made them sound so interesting haha!
They are wonderful plants!! enjoy!
