That was the 1st warning and i believe that rotation had already cleared out the east side of Webb City without touching down . The big one formed at 532pm i believe. Search "Joplin tornado audio" forming an EF5 in 1 min 38 seconds . I think the super hot day in combination with the humidity in Crane Valley that was pushed into the base of the tornado at a critical time to make it grow really fast ! The main power to west joplin was taken out by the first vortices that touched down. 1st radio call ... FF427

The speed at which that formed out of nowhere and turned day to fucking nightmare is jaw dropping 😮

It was nice of the cars to remain stopped at the red light and wait their turn.

Twas at a dog trial near Tripoli, IA that day................got ugly fast.

As much as I do think Joplin is over hyped sometimes, you can't deny how jaw dropping scary it was to see that thing go from just a needle tornado to a wedge. The fact that you can see where it crosses into more favorable environment and what happeneds when it does fascinates me. To say Joplin was a scary storm is an understatement.

I was about 10 mi from this tornado and I can remember even being that far away the eerie feeling and the way the sky look and they wouldn't let us come into town when we we're trying to go help but it was so bad the whole center of the city was tore up
