I think USB 3.0 has a higher limit, but I haven't personally tried it. Could you use multiple computers or multiple root controllers? You might get past the limit if you plug another root device in via pcie.

Instead of chaining them in series, connect 1st hub, then 8 hubs to 1st one, then 8x8 hubs to previously connected ones etc.
And that's 144 usb
Max peripheral devices are ~112 PER PCIe CONTROLLER
What is you switch off the socket itself? Some sockets have switch off button

You can buy PCB screws and the threaded inserts online somewhere. Order enough screws and inserts for all the mounting holes on the adaptor PCB, and attach the inserts to the case either with just superglue or program little recessed spots into the print program that are in the right place and sized for the inserts, then superglue them in. Hope this helps, it'll keep things from clunking around in there.

USB spec allows a max of 7 devices deep. But the host controller and root hub remove two of those, giving the limit of 5.
