Doing well. Been out every week, found a really nice gold and diamond ring last week. Still trying to find time to edit the video haha. Hope you’re having good luck down on the treasure coast!

@@Burntchurchtreasurehunting been doing ok, got a very old gold ring and a copper ring at Amber sands beach, going to take it to the Mel Fisher museum and have them look at the rings, finding a lot of junk jewelry and fishing weights on the beach, we just need a good storm to wash out all the sand they put down over the summer, happy hunting buddy, Jim

I’ll have to check that one out too. Going back out hunting tomorrow and using the T-Rex again. We’ll see how heavy it gets this time around after using it for a few hours last trip

Funny you say that, that’s exactly what I did haha. It definitely makes digging targets much easier compared to the CKG as I found it only took a few scoops to recover most every target vs a bunch with the smaller scoop. Hopefully you have some great memories from it and some cool finds too. My kids are just starting to get into it, but still on the small side to do a bunch of the leg work haha. They are expert shark tooth hunters though haha

Thanks for responding! What didn’t you like about the trex to make you switch? It’s a big one that’s for sure. Makes digging easy but it’s quite heavy to lug around haha

@@Burntchurchtreasurehunting I think it was the original, way too heavy for me, especially when you fill it with wet sand. Although idigdaytona uses it and makes it look so satisfying haha. I like to use my foot to kick and fling the sand now too so light is good

@EastCoastDigs I used it for a few hours yesterday with mostly dry sand. Once I hit the water though for a half hour, I felt the pain haha. I am sore today after using it, but it could be me being out of shape too hahaha. Best of luck out there and thanks for watching and responding too!

@@Burntchurchtreasurehunting not just you! I also feel awkward yielding a shovel on the beach with little kids running around, having one that is twice as heavy makes me a little more uneasy cuz that thing would do some damage!

Absolutely a good time, maybe the best outside of prime tourist season. Coligny is a good spot during the summer, you can go all hours of the night since you can park and walk. The other heavy populated beaches like Burkes and Dreissen have parking lots that close around 9, so you risk getting a ticket or towed. I’ve been on coligny a few times in the middle of the night after storms haha

@Burntchurchtreasurehunting I never knew you couldn't park at chaplain park after 9 and I've been here for 10 years. But I'm down near coligny. I bet you could park at the end of singleton road and be good for a few hours. Only problem is at Hightide you won't be able to wall over to burkes on the beach because there's a creek inlet right there between em

@RamblinRoverMatt correct and both. I usually park at the shops by coligny and walk over at night, normally in a group of 3-4 people (all detectorists). Yes that inlet on burkes breaks it up though. Found some cool stuff in it in the past though

Lots of good wrecks in Florida. I have hunted a couple dozen times down there and have a couple videos up of the times I did find things haha. Minelab makes some good detectors for both saltwater beaches and dry land. Equinox models are solid and now that the 900 is out, it lowered prices of the 600 and 800. I use an 800 but am saving for a Excalibur ii, they just aren’t cheap. Best of luck hunting and hit me up if you want to go on HHI before you leave. Lots of internet searching. Also a lot of books. If you search online 1733 Florida keys treasure fleet books, you can find a few good ones. Takes a bit more digging to find info than the 1715 fleet or atocha.

No problem. Mdhtalk has a good one that’s like 150+ pages on the 1715 fleet too. I used that as a guideline when I started searching those wrecks a few years back. It depends on where you go really. Beaches are fair game, some areas not so much. I use an app called Regrid, it allows me to check property owners etc to make sure where I am is public property. I stick to the beaches because I know I’m good there, I get private permissions for searching other sites in the area, Beaufort, Bluffton etc as there are lots of war relics in the area. Never had a run in with police yet 🤞 but know some that have, and they have just gotten warnings or asked if they’ve found anything. Trespassing would be different though I would think, especially on protected areas. Have you hunted down here before?

@@Burntchurchtreasurehunting I am in Summerville and have never hunted there although there was so much civil war activity there.

Any luck searching on your visit to Hilton Head?

I’m trying to get down again mid this month with my kids to sift for emeralds on the colored beach site. Still in talks about the trip, but leaning to head down. Tides look decent July 17-22 range too and with boats in the water blowing holes on wrecksites, I’m hoping maybe they shift some items up into the waves and send them to shore 🤞. Lots of fakes and replicas out there sadly. Some people bury them in sand for setup treasure hunts for kids too. I find those on Florida beaches too and my heart sinks when I think I found treasure and it turns out to be a novelty

Correct, I couldn’t use it in the water on a known wreck site with a lease on it or protected. On the beach or sand is fair game though unless is a state park or posted signs that you cannot detect. Check local laws too before going out

Muck and sand would not sift in this terrain. Didn’t have a shovel either otherwise I would have switched. Would have saved my back haha

Really cool story. Definitely sounds like it could be treasure as in the 50’s the beaches weren’t overrun with treasure hunters like now. Not sure how to get a pic sent though

Yes there was some here and there. Lots of false signals which drove me nuts

Wasn’t planning to detect the wreck site, was planning to water detect sandbars in other spots there. I wanted to dive the wreck just to see it, not detect it. Yes treasure coast is beach only unless you have a permit.

Thank you! Been down there many times and come home empty handed. Been down twice since this visit, nothing but trash and common coins and the occasional modern jewelry piece. Going to be tough to ever top it again. Been searching for years down there and in the keys too. Found one coin in the keys, these coins in the treasure coast. Nothing of historical significance in the dozen or so other trips to the treasure coast or the yearly trip in the keys. Best of luck to you and thank you for watching! Luckily though, this was part of a decently large lot and I think there is another PL Morgan in there I am sending off. Also a really nice 1917 SLQ with a lot of surface junk I am going to send to PCGS and use their restoration for the first time and see how it turns out. Appears high grade AU 🤞. I’ll be posting reveal vids once those come back after I send them off soon

@@Burntchurchtreasurehunting too soft of a strike to be (double struck) proof coin. Hair above ear gives it away. For $20….is a great find, however.

Going to use their restoration service for a SLQ that has black streaks across it front and back that appears a nice AU or better (1917 type 1)

Does not have the square edge and striking sharpness of an 1885 proof, still a very beautiful coin
