Quick session at a sweet new spot
Просмотров 2973 года назад
A week ago, while rollerblading around Zagreb, I found an eerily perfect riding spot. No one there, just a chill security guard that gave me the well known head nod indicating "fuck the man, I won't give you trouble". Later inquiry about the place revealed it to be an almost finished building project, abandoned and now standing empty. I guess that inefficient bureaucracy has its upsides after all.

Full version of Agua by Harold Budd. Recorded live at the Lanzarote music festival in 1989. (The album cover isn't very flattering, so i used a modified version of a photo by Masao Nakagami)

departure brought you into perspective, i keep having moments where i seem to finally realize you exist. and think of what ccould not but could be if. those moments only make the feeling worse. mmore gut wrenching than ever. i keep googling your name and your martyr father pictures show up instead, leaving me sad, guilty and in shame. wherever youre, the thought of you still makes me happy.

This song is actually called “The Kiss” by Harold Budd. I think this is a live version but I’m not sure if it is called “Agua”. The Kiss sounds almost similar but sounds like a studio version without the background noise.

It sounds like his own “ Variations on a theme from ‘The Kiss’,” type arrangement I was thrilled to see his music used as the soundtrack for HBO’s Emmy winning adaptation of “I Know This Much is True,” by Wally Lamb. There will never be another Harold Budd. Ever.

I just like to say how much you have been part of my life since 1988 when I walked into a record store in Kansas City mo and bought the white arcades just because of the cover not knowing what was in side and thru my journeys of ups and downs I still have a place in my heart for Harold budd and I still have the Original cassette case and tape even now as the world is reaching its end we have fond memories of this gift of talent , there are really no words to describe his touching music ❤

this is beautiful and im so sorry to learn Mr Budd died so recently. Theonly album i ever had was his plateaux of mirrors with ENO. I recently bought the pavillion of dreams. This really is a wonderful piece of work too. Its wonderful that in the modern world and being 5O, there is still so much music ripe for discovery.

I recommend listening The Pearl (1984) with Brian Eno: one of the perfect balance between Budd's melodies and Eno's ambient: a peacefull masterpiece! (and one year later another thinking masterwork by Eno: Thursday Afternoon).

@@marcobello5666 THe Pearl is one of the few Eno Albums i dont have, thanks for the recommendation. Though I first bought music for films and Before and after science in about 1990. i only recently discovered after the heat with cluster. A real creative peak for Eno , the late seventies. Also found a copy of this Harold Budd album and it really is beautifull.

I don't know why but the first feeling that came to mind when I heard this was being in kindergarten at recess or maybe it was gym class in Fort Drum New York..I was rolling down hills and we were all exploring through the woods. I don't remember if it was cold or warm out but it was sunny and dreamy. I never spoke to anyone really; I was a painfully quiet child so I don't remember having fun with anyone. But it was a fun time being myself as a youth those times. Being an adult now alone and looking back to when I was as alone as I could be as a 5 year old. Carefree adventuring..means something entirely different to me now that I can't fully articulate. This song nearly brought me to tears because even though I may not ever get to relive them I can listen to the things that can bring me back. Close enough ⭐🌻💫💙
