Do the tubes with the LED light contribute to the sound? Or are they just decorative? I ask this to check the possibility of exchanging them for others that I have to see if there is a variation in sound.

Why does nearly everybody on youtube, (when they are reviewing a Dourk 7-band EQ) take the valve/tube version? I was brought up in the 50s and 60s and actually studied electronic engineering when valves/tubes still ruled the roost. The use of vacuum tubes in a mini device at this price level is a pure gimmick - IMHO!. The valves/tubes themselves will for sure come from Chinese factories which in the hifi world, (and that of the serious e-guitar player too), are not known for 'top quality' to put it mildly. It's fun to look at but how will THIS Douk 7-band EQ shape up against the cheaper solid-state version?! THAT would really interest me! Otherwise ..... love your reviews and comments, Sir!

I was looking for a desktop DAP so I could play my music library. I don't stream music, because I have an extensive library. I bought the aiyma DP01, which is very similar to the douk C100, but only has one VU meter. It uses the same software/interface, which is not good. Even my cheap ($20) portable DAP (mp3 player) can sort by artist and genre and my hifi portable DAP can also browse by folders and subfolders. The software on the DP01 only list albums. I plugged my 400gb sdcard in, with lots of folders and subfolders and the software did a scan. It stopped scanning half way through the library. Is there a limit on the number of Albums? I saw one review that said everything has to be in the root folder. Maybe then it would scan all albums? To play music, you have to scroll through the extensive list of albums it created during the scan. Not convenient at all. One work around (you shouldn't need work arounds) would be to break up your music library by storing different genres on their own sdcard. Though the input slots are on the back of the machine.

I am always looking for upgrades to my audio and I recently ordered a used Rega Elex R amp which has no tone controls so I need an EQ and went out and bought the Douk T8 Pro. Then with some advice, I upgraded the tubes to Electro-Harmonix 12AU7 EH Gold and ordered a IFI I power X power supply. I know nothing of tubes or power supplies but I want the best sound I can get and I have always had EQ's in every system I've had...........so when everything arrives, I will be pretty excited to hear the results. I really wanted the Schiit Lokius but they are so hard to find and to order one takes months to arrive..........and thanx for this great review.

Really liked your vid. I am not sure what on earth you are driving down to 2 ohm. I'm running my auralic s1 I think it is. Streamer/dac into the T8 balanced the out to a pair of bridged amps,monobloc into Klipsch speakers. It is perfectly acceptable to cut holes in the cases of these. It's necessary sometimes and makes things last longer if running at a lower temp. I've various home add on fans on amps etc. it can't hurt to keep em cool. That's my theory.

First off thank you. Your channel rocks. Your videos are consistently informative, well put together and entertaining. I hope you continue to grow. Now here’s the deal. I’m feeding a WiiM Ultra into an Onkyo which feeds a set of Polk T50’s. I have the Polk surrounds and center channel as well. I use 2.0 90 percent of the time though. Love music. Hearing a song you love on a hi-fi set up done right can change your life. My dad always had a very high end system when I was growing up . I remember his speakers were Vandersteens. And I thought they were the coolest best sounding speakers on the planet. Very good sounding set up. Anyways, Fast forward 30 years and I’m in the middle of building my first “audiophile” system in my own house. So much fun, and expensive! I think my next step though is an external dac. I’ve been looking at this one for a couple weeks. Do you think it would match up well with the WiiM ultra? And do you think having an AV receiver hurts me? Should I have a power amp instead? I treat the WiiM as if it were a preamp. All gold bananas high end hdmis good rca’s etc.

I have one unanswered question about these units. Do they only switch the positive red wires and not the black ones? If so, i wonder if this can cause some problems with certain types of amplifiers?

Looks like T9 center tubes may just be for Magic Eye, and outside tubes for audio? Is T9 a tube buffer, or a full tube preamp?

Hello! Now I have a big trouble 🙈 I bought recently a Douk X1, as a phono preamp. My setup is: a ProJect turntable, a Denon AVR-X1500H receiver, a ProJect phono amp, 2 passive speakers. I wanted to replace the Project preamp with the Douk X1, it has the Phono Input, but it doesn't have an audio RCA output 😞 So ...I could use it without the Denon receiver, which is unacceptable for me, because with the receiver I am using the TV audio too, with the same passive speakers. So...the Douk X1 has 2 audio inlets. Do you have any idea, how could I use this, as a classic phono preamp, with my setup? (I don't want to use the speaker out ports from the Douk X1. I could not make any difference even between the topping d50 III. I am looking at a dac with more inputs then my d10s and with an it remote to change the siret input. How does the input source Og this remote work does it cycle between inputs if you push fx optic more times or does this have hard coded buttons.? I am using harmony remote and this is very important for the family

A couple of other things about this dac you didn't mention are the akm output is 1.8 volt and the ess at 2.0 volt, so you get a little more gain out of the ess side. Also, I would argue the coolest thing about this dac is swappable op amps on the out put stage. I had 2 burson v7 vivids laying around and needed something to put them in. I bought this dac as a cheap option for trying not to break the bank. I Havnt listened to this dac with the stock 5532 op amps. I swapped the v7 vidids in right off the bat, and I gotta say... amazing. I own several dacs, and this with the v7 is probably the favorite I own. I have it set with a tube amp for headphones, and the sound is spectacular. Everything in the chain is warm, so I preferred the ess chip as it gave the sound a little more air plus a little higher gain. This really is a cool unit for a cheap price

Will Ampapa 1 work on 230V in Poland?

Hi - What does the dial on the switcher do? I have a Marantz amp that I'd like to be bawl to switch between 2 different paris of speakers (ones on the wall and other that are floor standing). I'm assuming this will do this with no degradation in sound quality?

When I stream Apple Music lossless files through the Douk equalizer I get no sound. Does anybody know why this is? Is it unable to process lossless?

I have a question in the vu2. In the advertising where it shows possible component hookup scenarios it always says "active speakers". It won't work with passive speakers?

I have an xDuoo TA22/TA30. My TA22 (DAC) has two 9038Q2M chips and my TA30 (preamp) has one. I’ve snake oiled them up with tube rolling, fuses, cables, and crystals. I’m finished with my system. I love the sound I get. I don’t have a need to spend anymore on audio. Maybe, look into an xDuoo Digital Audio Player. One that allows myself to choose between ESS and AKM chip cards. That’s not important because I’m happy with what i’ve got.

Thanks for the review! I am considering this EQ as well as the even less expensive Nobsound EQ9. I want to add EQ to my stereo and hope it does not degrade the sound too much. I cannot alter the EQ when using an iPad but when using a MacBook I can manually alter the digital EQ. The bands featured in the Douk are the ones I used on the digital EQ - 64Hz and 2kHz primarily so I think it would be perfect. In bypass mode, do you hear a difference between the Loki and the Douk? Does the sound blur or distort at all when these units are in the system? Thanks again!

Tpa 3255 allows 20-25 watts (clean) with a distortion of less than 0.1% even at 20 kHz at 4 Hom and 8 Hom. The power is bigger but if you want a good hi-fi it is about 25 watts because beyond it gets dirty like all class D.
