    I'm 79 years old. I have afib. Am on one medication for it, but would love to control it naturally. I do love to walk. I normally walk three to six miles daily with ease, sometimes even 8 or nine miles. I have started doing some light exercises also. So far I am feeling great. Hate meds. The potential sides effects are so scary.

    I am 65. My mental and physical health collapsed recently. My self-prescription is to start with no more than a 10 min walk. I am increasing it by a few minutes each walk. Last night i was up to 35 minutes. I will get back to where i was decades ago with two 40 min walks per day. That is my long term goal. I am being careful with expectations so that i dont set myself up for failure. I need and want this to work. Thank you for this extra inspiration.

      Hello again @user-ib7st9qv8b . Sorry to hear about your back pain. Make sure it's not a disk issue, then start walking a little more each day. Warm up your lower back and legs before walking, do a short walk, then finish with some light stretching... very easy stretching at first. Over the years I've found this combo works well for me when I've sat too much between working and the driving I do. Slow and steady wins the race. This is hilarious! Wearing masks outside, especially while exercising, is detrimental to health. Don't you feel the fool now?

    • @WalkingforHealthandFitness
      @WalkingforHealthandFitness 2 месяца назад

      Hind sight is 20/20 so no I don't feel the fool. I created the video based on the information available at the time and the experiences of family and friends. I live in Northern New Jersey and our area was hit especially hard by Covid deaths. Our governor forced covid patients into nursing homes with the elderly (the most vulnerable population). My then wife worked at a elder care facility that had over 50 patients and aids die from covid releated illness. A co-worker lost her mom to covid. Lastly, a close friend in his late 30's and a non smoker, non drinker contracted covid from his elderly mom. His case was so severe that he didn't think he was going to survive the worst night of his life as he fought for every breath. So no, I don't feel the fool for putting out this video that stressing caution... base on what was being reported at the time.

    • @WalkingforHealthandFitness

    • @WalkingforHealthandFitness
      @WalkingforHealthandFitness 2 месяца назад

      Hello @claresmith926, the only tip I'll give to walk until you feel tired. Begin by setting a walking goal, either a time goal or distance goal, and try to achieve it. If you do it, then increase the goal. Keep in mind that you don't have to walk more and more with each walk. Some days you will feel tired and want to walk less. That ok. I do suggest finding a time to walk when you are most energetic. For me that is in the morning. Walk on, Frank

    As your mileage increases, your bodies efficiency to the activity improves which lowers the calories per mile. No number given for calories is constant. IMO, a big benefit of a long walk is burning out available glucose so that ketones can grow and be used.

I’m not sure with the metabolic rationale is… ..I was losing fat weight much faster vs the everyday 35 minutes. On the days that I don’t 70 minute treadmill… I lift weights including heavy lg press.
