Добавлен 25 мар 2017
Born into a family of vagabonds and raised on a swampy piece of island paradise in the Florida Keys, I've always been a little bit "outdoorsy." Come check out my adventures as I hike, camp, and fly fish my way across this beautiful world.
I Stayed at this AMAZING Airbnb in the Mountains Outside Denver
This summer, I spent two relaxing days at this AMAZING Airbnb outside Denver, Colorado, exploring the mountains, fishing the local river and high alpine lakes, and sampling the local food and drink scene.

I've never stayed at one before
This one would be a great introduction!
I've always heard once they turn red, they're mushy and no good to eat.
I’ve heard that too but this one was maybe just turned. It was really a tasty meal.
Fished this river about 20 years ago and never got a chance to go back. Was a great river to fish and I'm wanting to go back next spring to try some Euro-nymphing.
It’s a beautiful river to fish, so technical and highly pressured! Hope you get back next Spring, that’s a beautiful time to be there!
The Madison is the most heavily fished river the state. Fishing pressure has had a negative effect on the number and quality of fish. Zero regulation on commercial and recreational fishing is accelerating the impact on the fishery.
Same thing seems to be happening to us in Colorado on the Dream Stream and the Arkansas especially.
The graveyards are why we came in the early 60s. We were looking for my wife-to-be's ancestors buried there. We found the names that she knew. We explored the churches, forded the little streams. The roads were gravel, as I recall. Well, it was more than just her ancestors, we were courting, which was the way at the time. She was born up and over in NC. A real mountain girl, straight as an arrow, beautiful and wildly intelligent. Had to lay her to her rest up high on the NC side when her time came. If you would like a look at the cove when we were there try to find a movie called "A Walk in the Spring Rain", filmed when people still lived there.
Can’t imagine what it must have been like back then to explore the park. Thanks for a sharing a snapshot of its history!
It was fun. My father's old Studebaker was our courting mobile - courting, yep, we were trying each other out to see if we could do a lifetime together. We did. I can see her on her deathbed and imagine her holding her bouquet of roses in the snow. What a girl. @@ParkerOutside
When I'm there the only thing I have time for is to fish the various pullouts''; for example;e 7 mile for example/
At least we know the masks don’t work anymore.. especially outside lol
Asheville is the 2nd largest city to house Queers.
Hell yeah man. Keep getting after it, nice browns
Thanks for watching!!
when the fishing is slow on the Madison, I go early and late. Keeps my enthusiasm up. I do as well as pounding the water all day
A guide netting your fish 50 yards from you? That ain't fishing.....
Well, whatever it was, it was hella fun!
Whitefish...let me guess you used a bobber(indicator) and a nymph....
Please tell us that your guide didn’t put you up to fishing from a boat on the "wade fishing only" section. The fact that you were the only boat on the river should have been a hint….
We weren’t fishing from the boat. We floated through on the boat and then got out and waded from the gravel bars in the middle.
Get a freakin haircut 🙄
No.
I like fishing Hegben.
Was researching Asheville. Great overview. Watching from Wilmington, NC
Glad you enjoyed! It’s a great city!
You almost lost me at your "Catch and Cook" comment. Why not leave the wild trout alone and chase some hatchery fish instead?
I agree with ya honestly! I’d say this was a fairly ignorant comment from a newer fisherman. For context, I originally had a concept for this video to be an introduction into my exploration of wild foods, which is why I was targeting wild fish, but I switched the subject a bit in editing and that was a comment that got left in from that original version of the video concept.
Is this supposed to be a fishing video ?
This was Great !Hello my name is Shane. This was awesome coming from someone who is from East Tennessee. Not only that, from watauga road near the steam plant, you're right behind Superior wheels on Star Mill. Currently living near Tyler apartments and go camping at camp stonefly. Every other year that I can.. until I recently got brain cancer. Where can you go camping within the next 2 weeks. The bag up some Trout. 3/30/2024 Shane Nickles.
How much time is spent on waiting for a hatch ? I have seen many of fisherman sit for long periods of time waiting. I prefer to just fish wet flies, nymphs and streamers until I see a hatch if it doesn't come so be it I still fished and did not waste any precious time particularly if you have traveled a distance like flying into Montana . Great video, beautiful country it must have been just awasome to just be there and see it.
Thank you! It was such an amazing experience just to be there. And honestly, I agree with ya. Wet flies are the way to go if the hatch isn’t on. I’d rather be fishing than sitting and watching for bugs.
Bet it was a sucky day and wknd for him or her you should throw them fly rods away I catch my limit everyday
But I guarantee you had sucky day
I always catch a bunch of big browns on the Madison when im over there. Its such great water to fish. Henrys Fork is premo water too.
It’s such great water! We were very surprised at how slow the fishing was that week! Henry’s Fork too, not a single rise in the 3 hours we waited on the bank. I’m definitely wanting to go back to the Henry’s Fork and experience it fully!
@@ParkerOutside Fish the confluence of Warm River and Henrys Fork if you get a chance. You can go upstream and fish Warm river also. Be careful because is pretty far back in the woods and they say Grizzlies drop off the western escarpment of Yellowstone into the area.
@@westernsoutherner1 that sounds like some take-a-buddy territory! I bet the fishing back there is A1 tho! I’ll keep it in mind for sure!
Not sure when you filmed this: 2022 or 2023. Both years fished well for me on the Madison. I spent 5 months up there the last couple of years ( just retired ). The river fished exceptionally well when it was running high and was off color. Streamers did well during those times. 2024 will be challenging unless conditions change. Most of Montana is having a drought at the moment and the outlook for the next few months isn't rosy. Regardless, I'm going back up there again, as I've been doing every season for the last 32 years. Some links for you: Drought statement: www.weather.gov/media/tfx/DGT/DGT_TFX_03132024.pdf Snow Water Equivalent for the various drainages ( including the Madison ): www.wrds.uwyo.edu/wrds/nrcs/updatesur/update-mt.html Good luck...
Epic
Thank you!!
Epic
Thanks for watching everyone! This was such a fun one to put together!
Glad to have you back Parker! Looking forward to some new content 👍
Glad to be back!
Asheville. Greasy spoons, parking lots and white people.
Guys I grew up in n.c. I've spent weeks of my life in that place camping out. Totally love that place
Its such a cool place! I would love to spend a night or two camping there!
Amazing video
Thanks for watching!
You should give a shout out to your guide. Looks like he worked really hard for you.
He did! He’s an amazing guy and someone we fish with every year. Not really an on camera type of guy as much though, so I try not to make him uncomfortable or give him too much exposure. Just tryna be respectful of everyone’s wishes with a camera around. He does get caught in the footage here and there and I used that footage with his permission but again… Not everyone is looking to be exposed to the world on the scale that this video would have done.
It would've been nice to get directions to this place.
The 4 Phases of Flyfishing: 1-you're learning and just want to catch a fish. 2-you're getting better and want to catch a lot of fish. 3-you're pretty good at this and want to catch a big fish. 4-you're experienced and confident that you know what you're doing and want to go where no one else goes and catch a small wild trout.
This makes me happy 😊
You were fishing from your boat in the "wade only" section. You can transit the "Wade only" section with a boat, just not fish from a boat. Learn the laws and rules before you come to my home and plaster it all over the internet.
They weren’t fishing from a boat in the wade section you dummy
Why do all these dingleberries feel the need to document everything. You’re kinda ruining what the sport and what it’s all about.
Smoked the white fish I caught. Delicious
Good to know for next time!
Smoked white fish is the best.
Fished that beautiful river for 30 years
hey i know this video is from last year, but i live in boulder and have the same issue with drys. It was really frustrating when I first started because i was getting hits but i couldn't figure out why my hook set was bad
Don't besmirch white fish. As are canaries to the mine, the white fish are to😅 the river. Whie fish indicate a healthy creek. As Joe Brooks put it, "I'd rather catch 8 white fish and 13 trout than 13 trout."
awesome video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Good first look and review. Been looking at this camera on and off for a while. Many thanks from the UK 🇬🇧
It’s been great for a lot of things! I definitely pushed it’s stabilization limits skiing but it does beautifully in most other environments! Good luck with your camera search! Cheers from the US 🇺🇸
I used to live here!
Did you go to slide inn?
Sure did. Bought my fishing license for the trip there.
wet wading in spring in Colorado, hard core
Gotta love me a wet wade, but it honestly might have a been a LITTLE early for that 😂
That's beautiful out there man! Sweet video!
It's heaven on earth! Thank you, glad you enjoyed! We'll see if I can't avoid the skunk next time lol!
Huge!?
Relative to the stream, sure!
love it! i want to ski crested butte so bad!
Come with us a next time!
Beautiful place
Truly heaven on earth
