They made an pre-show announcement basically saying “We are in mourning for the queen, however we will be performing the show as written, without rewrites.” So imagine you’re going to a musical not even a week after the death of the queen, the entire country is in mourning, and the very first words in the entire show are “GOOD NEWS! SHE’S DEAD!”

I remember seeing Wicked for the first time and just hearing the first few seconds of this song made me start sobbing because I couldn't believe I was actually there. I'd dreamed about seeing Wicked for 15 years and it was just a surreal moment to actually finally be there. So now every time I listen to this song it always makes me so emotional because it brings me right back to one of the happiest moments of my life. Seeing Wicked again this summer and I can not wait!

I’m waiting to see how bad Ariana Grande ruins this song. When they announced that, I thought of this song first and I can’t imagine that she can do it. She’s a good singer, but this isn’t an appropriate role for her. She’s not a soprano. She has no showtune/operatic sound at all. 😑
