Nice to hear Hank admit some what that his live scope, back when? He used in his Classic wins. The somewhat comment, well he mentioned he saw everything, stumps, bushes , and baitfish but must have never seen a bass with it. He didnt admit to catching any with it, just he used it like a tool. 2024, latest results and most current. Look at every Elite this year and the 2 day cut lines. 1st, remember the body of water and past results. The old pros in the bottom 50. 32lbs on 10 bass. Take FFS OUT of the equation. Those weights would have sucked 20 yrs ago. Fork day 2 cut, 42 lbs on Fork. Harris Chain 22lbs, 11lbs a day. Its that way on every lake, bottom 50 weights sucked. St Lawrence. 40.11 on 2days. Smith Lake day 2, 22.14 lbs, pathetic. Blame live scope for pathetic performance when those very numbers years ago would have resulted the same. No FFS then, whats the excuse for then? Hank said its a tool, Live scope been around since when? And yall blaming rookies for embracing 10 yr old technology that Hank won 2 Classics with as a "tool". Sour grapes

Someone high up in the tournament scene is being bribed, this is the only explanation I can think of as to why it has not been outlawed in the tournament scene and they would rather ban certain baits that people pair with the FFS.

As a Viewer and an intermediate bass angler hoping one day to enter the bass circuit tourns, I started bass fishing as most did without sonars so that’s where my opinion is coming from. I believe compromise will be the answer here, years of fishing without the aid of technology brings about set”s” of skills that are nullified with the use of forward facing sonar, the tech does what it’s supposed to and that’s to make it easier to find and put more fish in the boat. The problem is when it comes to tournaments which is supposed to filter out the best of anglers, FFS not only evens the playing field but it also take from those anglers that have spent years acquiring skills that one can only acquire from experience the well deserved title of being one of the best . Now anyone who’s financially capable of having the technology without putting in much time on the water can become an “Elite” therefor it really takes away from the main goal of the tournament which is filtering out the best of the best. I believe the best solution is throughout the circuit… the first couple tournaments (qualifiers) should allow FFS to narrow down the competition then as it gets to the top tournaments it should then start to back away from FFS and solely rely on intuition and experience “raw skills only” your senses to determine the Elite amongst the competitors. Not only would this make Bass Master Elite so prestigious but it would give a great importance and respect to the game in which will be the “talk of the town” more than it does now with the anglers and viewers but it would also encourage challengers to really practice engaging with their environment more from mapping where the forage are, where the herrings are hunting, where the wind and currents are hitting, and creating activities in the water (food chain), to feeling out bottom composition and so forth etc. These are important skill sets that become insignificant with FFS. So In summary forward facing sonar should be use to thin out the competition then as it moves to the “Super Bowl” BMElite/classics; FFS should be banned and require only traditional raw angling skills. Really filler out the best of us.

Watch out for St johns river monsters

FFS is here to stay. I think tournaments will govern it but not ban it. I think fish will adapt to the pressure, but I think it has the potential to damage bass populations the worse because of pulling fish out of deep water especially in hot weather. I think one of the best things we could do is stop having tournaments in 85 degree and above surface temps, but that won't happen. Creel limits adjustments will not affect bass loss because almost everybody practices, catch and release. But with panfish it will affect creel and length limits. Already has in Mississippi. Most panfisherman keep their catch. So it might be a little easier to actually track panfish numbers. With all that said, it sounds like I'm against FFS. I'm not, I have it on my boat and use it 2-4 days a week. Good fishing people and good luck.
