The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

Man this was me today, I went out and the water was glass next thing I know 10+ mph winds and my flat bottom Jon boat was slapping I was way out too and I did the same thing cut across diagonally shit got scary for a while too some of the waves were big enough to flip me but I made it. Learned my lesson check the weather/wind hourly forecast before I head out next time

I caught a 25lb 41" Red with the rod and real combo. The rod snapped in half, but the reel worked amazing. Still landed the Red with the snap rod.

Sir i recently purches ugly stick gx2 7 feet medium action rod and rapala s type 50 reel. Can i use 0.70 mm monofilament (suffix) as a mainline? It is 75 lb line.

2 things needed on a jon boat in bigger water: 1) Life jacket. 2) Kill switch with a tether attached to the life jacket. Ending up in the water is more common than you think when operating a Jon boat.

I guess I should buy myself ugly stik just for fun...
