I think, Franks real talent was more to compose, than to play solo.. I find his git.-solos often not really in time and too dirty from the sound .. And to play solo over only just one or max two chords is no art in my ears .. There are much better players, and we should be realistic here.. He is really not a guitar-God, and I guess, he knew it. 😁

The last clip is from right before FZ died -- you can tell he's not well -- he hadn't played guitar for years at that point

He was a far far genius of guitar and a virtuose of the spirit of american music in his time..

Frank would have had quite a bit to say during the last 20 years of our political history had he lived to see it, and he did see it coming and gave us fair warning too! He as I and many others know, this evangelical white christian nationalism shit started like in the early 50's with the changing of our national motto "E Pluribus Unum" to "In god we trust" and in our national anthem replaced "One nation undivided" to "One nation under god" which I as a kid refused to sing but instead elevated my voice and sang the original lyrics to!

Zappa is amazing. I remember listening to the album " Zoot Allures " i was blown away, Black Napkins Wow , but the entire album is so fantastic 👏

I was lucky enough to see Frank LIVE in Boston, back in 79 or 80. Great to see him play live! Filled with spontaneous moments!!

This is some straight-up shitty amateur playing. So many ppl love this less than basic, non musical pentatonic noodling bullshit he always does... Yes Im a guitar player, and Id expect this crappy playing from a high school talent show, not a well regarded musician. Every technique he displays is amateur, regardless of how quick a sloppy flurry of notes here or there sounds.

I saw Frank on that tour and I remember this interview on the telly. The bit of music at the end is the ABC news theme.

I always liked the solos in I Am The Slime. They were on fire.

The man was always very humble. Could play and write music for every instrument in his band. Might stand corrected but I can`t think of another the same. Thanks Dick for some great stuff.

FZ has (in my humble opinion) a totally unique approach to guitar paying, I've been a fan for more than 50 years and his solos still move me more than those of any other guitarist.
