@justinj2954 If you plan to visit Siem Reap, let me suggest the best times for your trip. Right now, in November and December, it's just after the rainy season, so there are many lush, green natural landscapes to enjoy. January and February are great if you like cooler weather, as these months are the cold season in Cambodia. March is a particularly special time you shouldn't miss. During the equinox (around March 20-22), you can witness the breathtaking sunrise aligning perfectly with the top of the central tower at Angkor Wat. In April, Cambodia celebrates its most exciting and vibrant event-Khmer New Year. It’s a wonderful time to experience the local culture and festivities. I hope this helps you decide the best time to visit Cambodia!

Westerners got to run Sihanoukville for a decade.They only banned locals from the public beaches, ruined the water by releasing raw sewage to sea. Also 50 cents beers and $5 hostels / guesthouses wasn't enough to pay living wages for locals.Sihanoukville is booming now for locals. Most visited town for 3 years in row for locals, local salaries are on Phnom Penh level and local population has grew significantly.

@ hmm. That’s not what I have heard or seen when visiting. It’s clearly ran by the Chinese and is mostly a city for gamblers and it has the highest crime rate in Cambodia. When were you last there ?

@@robhourmontmba Been living here for almost 20 years. Wife and her family are from here, so I know a lot of local people. Highest crime rate? Not really. Phnom Penh has highest rate according to official stats. Even Siem Reap has more petty crime per capita. Yes there are few high sensational murders related to Chinese every year but overall crime is very low. And these Chinese crime is between Chinese gangs only. Actually still 10 years it was not recommend to drive night time to Otres because there was gangs targeting tourist on the road. It used to be dark road with ought streets lights back then. Also 10 years ago you had to double lock your scooter because scooter theft was so common. Now days no one carry paddle locks with scooters.

@@robhourmontmba And what parts of towns have you visited? Sounds like you have visited "chinatown". Downtown or Otres area for example you don't really see much Chinese related stuff.

@robshealthcrunch yes you get a free 90 day visa on arrival. Also Thailand were talking about a Shenghen style visa for SE Asia, but Cambodia put the blocks on this. Apparently they say they'd lose the border visa money, but they're not looking at the bigger picture of more tourists which means more money.
