Production description:
The choreography deals with the theme of life, love, and death and in particular with the theme of the afterlife and what remains after the human transition to the other side.

Boris Gruhl - ˇthe selection of songs with repeated farewells, also sadness and experiences of loss. This is expressed in Juliane Banse’s wonderfully grounded voice, whose singing can transform into sensitive, dance-like postures and creates a spiritual connection to the pianist Alexander Krichel. Krichel captures the emotion of the movements and the singing in his playing, breathing with the s...

    Talking about Death: The interviewer bores me to death. It’s beautiful to see the kindness and patience of Jiri to build on questions that only deserved yes/no. Maybe the idea was to juxtapose the experience and naivety… ??!! Why do wear a beard and dancers don’t ? OMG

    A moving interview - full of insights and emotional depth - with one of the greatest European masters of choreography... I appreciate Kylián’s understanding of dance history in context of other arts; informed by the universal truths of life, death, love, and theatre. The question of preservation/recording of dance points to the power of poésies in which intimate memory shapes the movement of feeling bodies in space and time.

    Oh my god, this video should be called "life, love and beards". What did the interviewer take! who possibly came up with these questions!? It's hilarious and embarrassing. The golden shoe of journalism to that guy.

    I would add re. dance, some factors our politically correct society fail to mention: 1. Hetero (M/F) choreographers work better with women; the respective dialogue opens to nuanced interactions (with all their baggage & inner conflict). 2. Men come and go - unstable - it's easier for them. Women endure, last longer, work those extra hours men won't agree to. Women dancers are more consistent.

    I could listen to Jiri Kylian all day. But the interviewer aggravates me. You can tell he knows nothing about dance or choreography!

    I do not understand why you touch the classics and change them? There is a lot of music and stories in the world still available to dance. Do you think you are bigger than Petipa, Ivanov, Vainonen?

    • @ekodanceproject9371
      @ekodanceproject9371 4 года назад

      Maybe because he doesn't believe in fairy tales? Those are for children. I think he uses the music because it is extraordinary and inspires him and....he is not bigger than Petipa, but equally brilliant.... maybe you should open your mind :)

    Jirí Kylián is a master of the body. He creates poetry with movement. His creations are daring, fierce, rapturous, fiery, sublime, ethereal, sensual, and magnificent. They are masterpieces. There is no living choreographer in the world imbued with such an astonishing talent. I have always been mesmerized by his creations.

    Pina Bausch is a woman choreograper. In no way could she have a beard. You did not get the joke. It would have been nicer if you could have prepared for the interview better. Kylián's work is amazing and well deserves it.

    The mask that Mr. Kylian is actually holding is a bauta, originally from Venice. The meaning of that mask is not DEATH. It was not about death as he is saying. The Bauta is the quintessential Venetian Masquerade 1600. It was used to hide the identity of a person during Carnival. The mask which Mr Kylian is probably referring to is with a completely different shape. It had glass openings for the eyes and a curved beak shaped like that of a bird.The mask had two small nose holes and was a type of respirator which contained aromatic items to protect the plague doctor from airborne diseases while visiting . Sorry Mr. Kylian
