What's the black connector with the yellow dots for?that is all that's in my terrova.
It's the connector for the control board if it's the same as my ultrex. It is not the us2 cable. I'm pretty sure the terrova had models that didn't include the universal sonar transducer.
Great videos. Well done! Question…. After all that why didn’t you put a drop of oil on the bearings?
@kk5fe it's possible I edited it out trying to shorten the video. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your review of your vexus avx 1980!
Red Phillips is my fav..easy to tie anywhere, small and very strong
I agree. I have been using it for at least a year now. I haven't had the first issue with it. Thanks
Is there any reason you didn't use the precision sonar protectors again?
When I wanted to order they where out of stock. I figured they where of the same quality and I was afraid my co-angler would bust my front screen. I haven't compared the the two side by side but looking at my "calibrate garmin livescope compass" video you can see my reflection in it. It's just been so long since I had one I got accustom to seeing it without it.
I'm worried the same thing if a co-angler bust one they may not realize the actual cost. I've now add a second 8616 up front for my co-angler. We fish crappie tournaments so I wanted him to have something good too. With that being said he can't shoot docks very well so needless to say that gets me to thinking all the time when you had the precision sonar did you feel like you had less glare? I may get them and add sun shads for the insurance and possibly a piece of mind.
@Geoonthegrind I really don't think it was as bad but they both have glare. I haven't tried a sun shade yet but I've been looking at them. I think you will be fine with either one. Good luck.
Thank you for the video, it helped me put my reel back together after I stripped it down myself and didn’t pay enough attention to the steps. However now when I crank the handle it clicks like I’m adjusting the spool tension knob. I’ve disassembled and reassembled twice with same results. Any advice? I have a Lews custom SLP-CU1XH.
@docjones1522 Glad the video helped you out. Not sure why it would be clicking. Your drag and spool tension knob will need to be adjusted after assembly.
Just leave the steering wheel attached. No need for puller...
Sand flea catching is an art. Only a kid can master it... Watch the receding water from a wave. If you see little V shapes in the sand dig with your hands or rake (I prefer to use a cheap beach store plastic net toy and scoop loads of sand into it and dip it into the water). When you find some you wish to use for bait, store them in a beach bucket in the shade and every 30 min or so dump out some old water and add some fresh to keep the little guys alive longer. Hook them through the side of their carapace, not straight up through their body. This way they will stay alive longer and even crawl around a bit to give some live bait effect. Dont fall for the $10 bucket scam and $50 flea rake...
Thanks for the detailed comment. I'll definitely try it the next time I go.
I like the boat but what in the world is wrong with your ears??????
They are gauged out. Thanks for watching
Good video instruction. Just what I needed. I take step by step pictures with my phone while disassembling components. This helps with reassembly and positioning. Also a touch of Vaseline or silicone grease on the O-rings helps. A small tube of Danco Silicone Grease works great.
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for commenting
Matt thanks for doing this video. i am working on getting my bass boat ready. Had to do some re-wiring and now i know what happened to my trolling motor, looks like i tripped the fuse. I didn't t even know where it was located. Will work on this next week when the temperature cools down..
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Why didn’t you just drive it with the TM?
I have done it both ways. I got higher percentages and a more accurate icon orientation when doing it that way. If you use the trolling motor it is turned perpendicular to the boat when you are calibrating it. My on screen icon was never close when doing this.
The original motor toter transfers the weight of the motor to the trailer....less stress on the transom during travel
I appreciate the info. Bought the Livescope Plus with the LVS34 this winter at the Toronto Sportsman's Show and I need all the help I can get.
Check out some of my other video's. The video titled "get the most out of your livescope" will help you avoid some frustrating issues. Thanks
In case you go out before me. This video shows how to do it
How long have you been fishing?
In the last 5 years I have went nuts with it. I fished before but not like I do now. I've tried to gain as much knowledge as I could to cut down on the learning curve. I had people tell me it took years to catch bass. I didn't want to wait years. I wanted to have fun now and that's why I try to share what I've learned.
Question, I am trying to do this however after clicking begin and turning the boat the progress bar just stays at 0... I have done this before and the progress bar moved but never completed successfully. Now it doesn't even attempt to start progressing. I have reset the sonar to default and tried again. Still no progress on the progress bar. any suggestions? thanks Jonathan
Where is the transducer mounted?
Same thing is happening to me. Going to try disconnecting the network cable next.
12 inch definately looked a little better with ffs
@berkleyfishing is gonna hook you up I hope. Do they work ?
They do move up when jerked and sink when you stop reeling. I didn't catch any that day because I broke it on my first cast. I haven't tried the other ones I purchased. Hopefully that will change tomorrow. Tight lines
seeing how the line tie doesent have a wire all the way through the bill i can see these getting snapped off easily will be changed for next year i bet
That was my first cast with that lure for the day. I super glued it back together but I'm worried I'll hook a fish and it break. The fish will have the hooks and I'll have a plastic bill. Thanks
I appreciate you going to the trouble of posting this. I got a new Ultrex and was wondering what to do with that cable.
Your welcome. I'm glad it was helpful. Enjoy your new ultrex.
what size keel guard did you put on?
I used the 7 foot megaware.
@@fishnitup thanks
This was so helpful. Thank you for making this video
You're so welcome!
So what’s up with the hulls cracking; is this an older model issue or still a problem?
This July will make 2 years I've had my boat. It has the thicker hull and I haven't had any issues with it. I haven't heard of any 2022 and up models cracking.
@@fishnitup thanks man.
Wouldn't buy a 21 or older. No peace of mind with the hulls cracking. They cost way too much to be putting up with that. As far as the rest of them go. I think I'd rather buy a used glass boat than spend the money on a new one of these. They cost way too much for what u get. I drove a 1980 with a 150 and a 2080 with a 200. The 1980 was underpowered in my opinion. The 2080 was better but just cost too much.
You got a video on how you installed the Moonlite jacks? I’m looking to do mine and after looking at it, it looks like it’s going to be a pain in the rear.
I did that before I started making videos. I did drill them 1" off the inside of the gunnel. I centered them half way between the console and front of the boat. I used a fish tape to run the wires up to the front fuse block.
@@fishnitup do you like the lights where they are at or do you wish you had them mounted further towards the front of the boat?
Your able to rotate the light. I didn't have any issues that I can remember. Ill post some pictures to the Facebook page. It's linked on my home page.
Should I calibrate on a pole-mounted LVS 34?
My understanding of how the calibration works I would say yes. It stabilizes the transducer beam so that it's aligned correctly with the bottom and the boat. It ensures the bottom is correctly oriented. Without it being calibrated the bottom could look steeper or flatter than it really is. Hope that helps.
The 2019 thru 2021 models are hit or miss of the hull or transom cracking. 2022 and up are good to go.
Lets hope the 2022 and up are good. I've had mine about 18 months. Only time will tell if they are going to crack.
I have the 2019 AVX 1980. This was the first generation of these boats and talk about issues. First was with the Minn Kota Ultrex, had to take my boat in several times because of a chip defect locking up the motor. Then there was a gas line defect that needed fixing, Lastly my boat started sinking on me because of a 12 to 15 inch slit in the hull on one of the rib edges. Thank God this slit occured upa at the near the bow of the boat because I was able to get the boat on plane and raise the front out of the water to keep the water from coming in more than it would have if this slut were more in the stern. No, I never hit a tree, log , or rock on this biat. From reading the blogs this issue had occurred several times due to a manufacturing issue with thw material. Even though I had all these issues I have to say Vexus fixed everyone of them to include replacing the whole hull with a new and improve 2022 hull. I haven't had any more issues and I'm very pleased with the Evirude 150 E-Tec engine whic to date has been the best 2 stroke and most efficient engine I've owned. This engine purrs, is not as loud or intrusive as the Merc's and gets up on plane very quick even when I'm loaded down. I'm sorry they don't make these engines anymore.
Any issues I had which don't compare to a hull replacement have been fixed quickly without a question. I can hold a conversion at full throttle with the 150 mercury. It's not loud like the bigger engine. Thanks for commenting.
How has the single axle trailer done? I tow a lot of miles, so want a tandem. If a bearing goes out, pull the wheel off that one. Chain it up and keep going. Also been waiting on the 1980 or 2080 with the wide front deck. Almost bought the first 1980C built. But wife wants the second console. So we held out until now. Being I can get the wide hull, 3 seat bases up front. The second console. Man that extra foot up there makes a giant difference.
I live within a couple miles of where I fish. The longest trip I have taken was 3 hours and that was the day I brought it home. Besides that I drive 30 to 45 minutes to fish different lake & rivers. I haven't had any issues out of the trailer besides a little rust popping up. Vexus was quick to send me some raptor liner to fix it myself. I'm not driving 3 hours to the dealer for that.
Getting ready to install some in my tracker and remembered you had a video on how to install them. Helpful video, keep up the great work!
Awesome! Thank you!
I didn’t find wires under the dash for the trim. I had to go behind the shift lever to find the trim wires. Then patch into them. My steering wheel was a PITA to get off.
Mine wasn't wired under the dash either. I had someone in the vexus owners group tell me it should have been. I had to do the same as you and wire into the trim wires at the throttle lever. Thanks
I’m so glad that Vexus is installing the hot foot for me. Thats a lot of work . Great job!
I'm not going to lie. Doing the blinker trim and the hot foot in the same day was rough. It tested my patience for sure. Thanks
😒 Promo'SM
True about the next generation! They need to be taught about proper fish handling!
Common sense is going to be needed for crappie.... WE ARE SCREWED....
I typically throw everything back unless I take a few home to eat. At that I only take the ones that are around 12". Anything smaller isn't worth cutting up.
@@fishnitup same here, THANK YOU
Do you still like your Vexus? Been looking into them and just still on the fence or go with glass boat. Love the videos !
I appreciate you taking the time to comment. To answer your question I love my boat. I really only wanted the 1880 due to size but I got a good deal on the 1980. It rides really good compared to the ranger rt178c I had before and my 16 foot fiberglass boat. I have rode in 20 and 21 foot glass boats. They take big waves and ride a little smoother but It's still a great boat. Just depends on what you want. I fish a local lake and it's more than enough for what I do. If you can find someone close and take a test ride. That should help with your decision making. It has tons of storage and a large front deck. Everyone is surprised out how much room it has. Hope that helps.
The place that did my install said not to use the perspective mount because it scares fish away and doesn't work well. I had my install done yesterday.
I can tell you first hand that I didn't like it. I came from using the LVS32 and the additional angle on the mount made it difficult for me to find my lure. It also cracked the knobs I'm guessing from the extra leverage of the mount. Good luck
I like it blame it on the mount and not getting old.😁
Since changing the mount things are back to normal. It worried me for awhile that I wasted my money on the lvs34. It has great target separation and the ghost tree is gone for the most part.
Do you have a steady cast heading sensor? I bought all my set up at same time. I highly recommend having the heading sensor too. You can set both heading line & transducer come on your screen to same distances & let you know exactly where to be when approaching waypoints. I've heard that steady cast also makes all your waypoints more accurate in their location.
No but I have been looking at them. Can't decide if I should do blinker trim and a hot foot or the steady cast.
@@fishnitupI'm a Kayak angler so I'm not exactly sure what the blinker trim or hot foot is? I know the words just not what they are? Highly recommend the steady cast, I can't imagine not having. If someone just beats the bank then they don't need it, anything offshore & fishing waypoints it's very helpful. I can see my waypoint on mapping & same structure on forward or perspective mode with the gride lines on. They both match up perfectly for distance & positioning left, right, straight ahead. I set everything up together so, it wouldn't be the same without now.
I had watched enough vids over time that I already knew a decent amount about the transducer & settings. So when I got the lvs34 I already had a cheat sheet in my phone to try different settings for various conditions & water clarity's. One thing I haven't played with to much is color palettes in high sun. I use a Rip-a-Lip Sun Shade also so it does well at keeping my screen in the shade! It can put on & taken off in 5 seconds, much better than those hard plastic sun shades.
Thanks for leaving a comment. I still have some issues with the sun but not near as much as I did with the amber color palette.
Thanks for the info on Crappie fishing
No problem. Thanks for commenting.
Lmao! What the hell was that.
What the hell was that 😂😂
Did you all watch a different video than me? He let out 12 turns worth of slack and the boat never left the trailer.
I've always done about 12 turns. I didn't back it in enough to take all the slack out of the strap. It's really just to make sure I don't lose the boat. I've seen a few guys float the boat off without anything attached and it ended up on the other side of the lake.
Must be nice
I leave the bow strap on and back it just till the stern floats up. Then hop into the bed of the truck, over the tail gate onto the nose of the trailer. Then unhook bow strap, it’ll flow away only slightly. Then hop in crank the motor and tie to the dock or beach it. I stay dry but its a lot of jumping about
I'm not getting any younger. It catches up to me when I go crawling and climbing around. When I first started fishing tournaments I couldn't make it through the day without my back killing me. I can now but it still hurts sometimes. I told my buddy we where racing to see who would break down first when out fishing. Thanks
Great tips, specifically on the auto adjustments. Now I realize why it's frustrating me.Tight lines.
Glad it was helpful!
I also had mine crack 😢 I changed to a zero degree mount last month because I am running mine on a pole mount
Garmin sent a replacement knob that was backordered for 2 months. Hopefully it lasts longer than the first one. I haven't decided if I want to try a motorized pole or not. I like it to follow the trolling motor sometimes and other times I don't.
I use about 20’ of rope with a clip to boat on one end and attached to vehicle on other. After all ties are removed (except that launch rope) back the boat in, float it off trailer and use rope to retrieve. Feet dry every time.
I use rubber boots when it gets cold. One time I did climb around the bed of the truck because I forgot them. Nothing was going to stop me from fishing.
good points for sure, I like to use the blue colour palette to also help differentiate smaller fish from larger. this palette offers 2 colours for targets. yellow for smaller marks and larger marks show up as red with yellow outline. this takes some getting used to, but absolutely works well. best of luck out on the water, tight lines everyone!
I'll have to try out the blue color palette. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
