Does anyone know where to find a video to release the handle for the pop-up to come back down? Should you be able just to do a slight turn to the right and then crank it to the left for it to come down? Ours will not come down, and it seems to be stuck in place.

The roll pin on the drive shaft keeps snapping. I just got rid of the entire assembly and I now crank it by the lower worm gear drive, it's much easier and less parts to fail.

Okay, the pin on the upper sprocket refuses to break loose guys. I've bent two extended punches so far, and it won't budge. Yes, I am using PB Blaster. Any suggestions.

No such thing as Lowcountry bog. Bog is a Pee Dee abomination. Purlough is Lowcountry. Enslaved Africans brought rice to Georgetown, so the dish dates to the 1600s Rice Culture in that region where the freshwater rivers flow backwards and forwards with the tides. Maybe bog dates to the 1860s? Fresh sausage, not pre-cooked, and you only need 1-1.5 pounds of it for that size chicken. Pork and chicken fat, not butter, and brown the onions in the pork fat. Four cups of rice per bird, 8-9 cups of broth, and don't stir it after you add the rice and it comes to a boil. Cover it and cook another 30 minutes, turn it off and let it sit covered another 10. The grains of rice should maintain their integrity, not turn into mush. You can add more rice if you need to feed more people with 1 bird, but only 2 - 2 1/8th cups of water per cup of rice. And garlic? Bay leaves? Red Pepper? All you really need is salt and plenty of black pepper. You were right about the black pot, at least.

A tip for anyone else doing this to save you a headache...do not remove the front and back bushings if there is nothing wrong with them. The back wall bushing is easy to replace. However, larger bushing in the front plate is a serious pita to get back in. Really hard to get c clamps into such a tight space. As soon as I had taken mine out, it hit me that I shouldn’t had done it lol. Hope this saves someone else a headache, time and energy. We got it back in, but it was all of those things for us. At least 40-40 minutes. Screwing with it. Good luck to all. We also left the original clutch clicker/lock and spring mechanism. Couldn’t see how it was put together and didn’t want to spend another hour trying to sort out how to replace something ai took out...but wasn’t broken 😂🤷🏼‍♂️🍻

How does the pin at 4:17 come out so easily? I have been hammering on mine with a punch and the punch itself broke. Tried heating it up, using a penetrating oil etc. it won't even budge!

I have been searching for years for this information, I received a camper here in Australia with the lift system completely removed most likely pre internet ,although I could see the parts available online it seemed completely beyond me to install somethingwhen I could not see how it works /should look,, not anymore my friend ,I am beyond thankful to watch this.

Don't know if you know this or not but the town of Loris SC in Horry County has been having a Bog Off festival for 40 years now, this year will be 41. Loris is not far far from North Myrtle Beach about 24 miles. There's tons of You Tube videos on it and they have a Facebook page.

You should do a vid on a Coleman and Fleetwood direct drive, crank-up unit, which does not use the chain and explain the clutch function in a bit more detail, would really be helpful.

It's amazing how a simple dish like this can be done so many different ways. I was always taught to add the rice last so that the chicken and sausage are mixed throughout before the meal is done. Over the years I've added the two other ingredients to a mirepoix, carrots and celery. I figure they go great in chicken soup, so why not chicken bog? I like it even though I don't think I've ever seen or heard anyone else doing it that way.

Not bad. Put 2 lbs of fresh sausage in it. Saute the fresh sausage before adding. Add the kilbasa when you add the rice. Saute the onions before adding to mixture. Cream of chicken soup will keep it from drink out.

Your video was an answer to prayer. My parts are on order. One question, would you be able to send me a link to the exact rivets you used? I search panel or split rivets and I get all kinds. I suppose the length of the ones you used might be sufficient. Thanks!

if you have a nice grill (I have the same) cheeseburgers require fried onions instead of raw. I love raw but fried melted into the cheese is #1.

My father was the best at this. Everyone in SC has had it. Unfortunately his has never been duplicated. I think I’m going to have to make a video to show people what it really is. This rice comes from Enslaved Black people. We grew the rice in South Carolina. We put the scraps govern to us together with rice and made it good. That’s the history of this pot. It predates slavery as well. Many African countries cook this.
