Hmongstory Legacy

HMONGSTORY LEGACY IS WHERE ALL OF OUR HISTORY, HERITAGE, IDENTITY AND
STORIES CAN BE BROUGHT TOGETHER AND PRESERVED FOREVER.
It is a grassroots, community movement, to establish a permanent physical museum, a comprehensive digital, audio, and photography library of our stories, transparent in our own vulnerability and resilience. 2025 will be the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the story of our diaspora.
On May 14, 1975, as the last plane left Long Cheng, after the collapse of Laos to the communist, our true journey
to America began.
On May 14, 2025, we will gather to celebrate 50 years of hardship, loss, and sacrifice, and celebrate the stories of courage, resilience, achievement, and progress. Our history is scattered across this country. To realize and achieve the clarity of our identity and history, we must collect them and put all the evidence together so we can truly understand our history.

Hmongstory Legacy - Vinai: The Hmong Refugee Experience
It was an honor and privilege to listen to this story. Thank you so much for sharing it. Sadly, these kind of stories will soon be lost after our parent's generation. If today's children don't document and archive experiences like these, it will be lost forever. This story and many like it is the essence of almost every Hmong family of that time. Also, a huge commendation for the production team. You captured this couple's story beautifully and great job on the editing.
What would happen when no young man did there duty
My only suggestion is to have subtitles that translate to English. Overall this made me cry and made me love our Hmong people so much. Thank you for making sharing this beautiful story ❤
We did create English subtitles for this movie, please turn on and you will be the translations in English. Thank you for watching the short documentary
Beautiful story. Even not related or don’t know you but your story got me tearing up. Thank you for sharing.❤😊

Our Lee clan is from China …. 6 brothers 1 left with the Aunt and uncle to Laos in 1800’s and the rest of the brothers family’s are still in China. ❤
So all the Lee from Laos came from this one brother?
@@nangkue8371 Not all the lee in Laos came from this brother …. Only my lee family tree …. we trace and find our roots back to China. My lee clans still have 400 family in south China. Most of all the Hmong people came from China long ago. That old great great great grandpa he mentioned in the beginning of the video is our Ancestor from China. I'm a 6th Generation Lee in our family.
Everyone Hmong came from China brother.
Your plight was very similar to that of all our parents. My Mom and Dad were probably 5 years older than you two. We, too, arrived in San Francisco in the winter of 1980 but ended up in Michigan and had been here since.
Yes we all walk a similar path being Hmong. Thank you for watching!
I’m not crying!!! 😭😭😭
God bless you
Budda bless you 2😊
Such a beautiful soul. RIP. You’ll be missed.

beautiful!
I heard so many different stories and experiences from different perspectives that happened during this time period…my parents were either very young or born during this time, they most only mentioned life in refugee camps and barely talked about their past. It’s nice to be able to hear more stories.
What a beautiful video thank for sharing ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Kuv lub neej thiab hnub nyoog ces yuav luag ib yam li tus kwv tij no. You are so welcome!
Zoo heev os
I feel so privileged to have this accidently pop up on my youtube search. This story needs to be shared and viewed by the world. It reflects a similar story with all refugees. The story makes me so proud of these two hmong parents who enabled their kids to be successful. They made huge personal sacrifices and held high standards of integrity for themselves. I would be interested to find out what their kids are doing now and learn more about their family's legacy. All parents dream of this type of success. What was the secret to the success of these specific parents? I hope to hear more from these two great hmong parents. There is so much value in this short story that drives me to want to know more. If the family members are reading this, please reach out to me.
The kids are doing amazing and professionals in their respective careers! Thank you for watching!
