If you drink a concentrated toxin, the toxin will kill you. If you dilute that toxin, it will take longer to kill you. If you dilute that toxin even more it will take even longer to kill you. How does this experiment prove that it is not a toxin that is killing the plant?
I dont agree with your description. There is always a sub-lethal concentration.
You say that if the bacteria is producing toxins, the bacteria must also be toxic. If this is true then since the bacteria in our gut produces toxins, the bacteria must also be toxic. Your logic is flawed.
Did'nt wanna be too complicated as this video was meant for high schoolers. But there are toxins that bacteria release and there are toxins that are released when bacteria die.
@@biologyplanet6799 There are a lot of assumptions made in the experiment that you mentioned. There's no proof that toxins are not harming the plant.

The sap is toxic. Even to the plant itself. I mean I wouldn’t want stomach acid on my skin. Would you? The virus story is so flawed. It’s only around to act as a cover up for the poison in our food and drugs.

I really enjoyed this - but I’m not sure it actually explains how scientists figured out that this wasn’t a bacterium! Around 5:40, it states “we know that bacteria could not have caused this”, but it earlier stated that Bejerinck (the first scientist) thought that in fact it WAS a bacterium (just a very small one). Maybe I missed something?
I appreciate your question. I explained other investigations by Bejerinck that proved non-bacterial nature of pathogen. for example: 1- mixing of alocohol (which are known antibacterials) with filtrate did not cause loss of infectivity 2- Heat treatment also could not reduce it 3- diffusion through agar plug was also very non-bacterial
