I got my first Nikon, an Ft, in the early 70's- it was my grandfather's. Sold the body and meter in '75 to help finance an F2 as a high school graduation present. It is currently loaded with film and is in regular rotation. I put together a "franken Nikon" about twenty years ago- I bought the circa '70 body, Ftn meter and case separately on E-Bay and paired it with the 55 1.4 from my original camera. I recently had it CLA'ed and it is next in line to be used... Not as sophisticated as my F2, but so much fun to use and so iconic that I had to have one. As a side note, you can put together a collection of Nikon pre-AI lenses that are still have impressive performance and would have been the envy of any photographer of fifty or sixty years ago without having to raid your kid's college fund...

They had amazing engineering, then, all lost and forgotten, incapable of repairing and producing - Nikon‘s gone forever… the digital mirrorless commodity. If I ever go back to buy a real non-Leica camera, it‘ll be a Pentax. They‘ve not forgotten Photography and replaced it with digital imagery.

Just got my Nikon F from a shop of second hands cameras. Today, I did my first film with 36 poses. It's the first time that I’m using a completely mechanical reflex. Looking forward to see the final results. It complete very well with my Nikon Z8.

If my motor doesn’t run while I’m holding down the trigger to shoot what should I do? Not sure if you can help with this or know anyone that can?

A well done video. I have only had my F-100 a month. I could never find the serial number... until now. I will now be looking for a lens like yours. I like the "wide to tele" and it will fit right in with several of my other cameras.

Two bellows ...- and they call me photofreak... (Now it comes in my mind... - I have 3 Bellows and two extension tube sets for Leica R...😛) BTW: what about depth of field with 105 micro nikkor? Any examples?

410 / 5 000 This is a very beautiful, precise, expensive and heavy monster. This is good for photographing repeatable (and mostly static) processes in research laboratories because of its long assembly time. Unfortunately, this is difficult to use in the field (without extra personnel) and is also very vulnerable. When used in the field, even a single extension can be damaged if you accidentally grab it in the wrong place or the weather conditions are bad.

Back in the day when Nikon ruled the photographic world. OG ‘Fs’…F, F2, and the venerable F3HP were the rigs to have if you were a Photojournalist….yet I shot the Canon F1s back then, not a lot of Canon rigs compared to Nikon’s offerings.

the focusing screen is not the same ?

You don't need the battery in the camera when you use the MD-4 motor drive. Those batteries power the camera.

I have both an F and F2. Other than my Hasselblad they are the most solidly built cameras I have ever used. I’m 72 now and I know they will continue working long after I’m gone
