I had a few trips on the huge hovercrafts that ran from Dover to France back in the 70's, Went over of Swift and came back on Sure, what made it more fun was seeing my sister who worked on these as she called it a 'Trolley Dolly' once these were decommissioned she went on to work the ferries, not as glamorous a way travel, yet another fantastic British invention!

Try driving a hovercraft that can carry a m1A2 Abrams main battle tank. It's like piloting a freighter airplane. Of course it is not electric powered but fossil fueled to get the massive floater to hover above the water.

Overcapacity is a lie spread by US and West. It's overcompetitive as US and West cannot beat China fairly. Chinese brands are going to dominate in the EV market worldwide. But free trade and fair competition are no longer agreed by US and EU as they cannot compete with China fairly. US and West are heading to protectionism which will create uncompetitive business environment and products eventually. Thus speed up their decline.

Huge difference noticed when comparing Hong Kong streets to Shenzhen, Shanghai etc... in many mainland cities you can hear the sound of the tires rolling on the ground. In Hong Kong you definitely only hear the ICE vehicle engine noises. There are ICE vehicles in the mainland and you can really hear them from far away.

Many people attribute the quietness to electric cars, but IMHO it's not. ICE cars are also quite as long as you don't tamper their exhauster (I think that's also against EPA regulation). The quietness largely because many *large* Chinese cities forbid honking withing certain perimeters, and such regulations are really enforced somehow. Some cities even have camera-alike devices installed at intersections to detect honking behaviors and ticket the vehicle owner, a full automatic process.

I live in Shanghai and I didn't notice how quiet it was until I went to Bangkok, which is filled with motorbikes (non-electric) and loud trucks. The difference is incredible.

I understand that most space craft have very thin walls to reduce their weight. But an inflatable ship or home just seems to come with to much risk. Have you ever been in a bouncy castle when the air pump lost power?

Wechat may be the most popular platform, by far, but it's not the only one. I use Ali, QQ and WhatsApp. Technically, I use several more apps of this type, but they aren't widely enough used in China, if at all. I also carry two phones. One is effectively a clean burner "for show". The other is dual-SIM (U.S./China) equipped with an app to hide apps/files/etc from prying eyes. I can tell you from first-hand experience that the Wechat censors over at the Cyberspace Administration of China either completely suck at their jobs, or I am simply not worth their time. I suspect their ability to monitor English conversations lags far behind their ability to monitor Chinese. I have conversations that would very likely be prohibited in Chinese and qualify me for a visit from the local po-po. I've spent about 6mos per year there for well over a decade (excluding the lost Covid years) and have yet to be approached by law enforcement....yet. Knock on wood.

Regarding rare earth's, China has no Monopoly on rare earth production. Other countries including America have deposits of rare earth minerals but they simply don't want to mine them because it's very messy. So while China is the almost exclusive producer of rare earth minerals that does not mean it has Monopoly
