This is an awesome video, thanks for taking the time to thoroughly explain everything. I’m currently looking at buying my first mortar rack and needed a bit more knowledge of what to look for before I do so!

Cool and helpful! I disagree that foil, or anything, over a departing shell _does not_ affect it or slow it down, causing a lower break. I remove paper from cakes and have meant to do a side by side comparison of identical cakes, one without paper, one with. I'm doing my first display New Years Eve, in one week. Just bought two mortar racks, 36 capacity each, and will get at least two more. My display will be non-public & it's just for practice & video so I can see if I can create & choreograph a good-looking 1.4 show AND make it to 20 minutes! I'll include strobes, fountains, pinwheels, big roman candles, celebration crackers (bigger firecrackers with even bigger firecrackers in the same string & a "bomb center"), explosive ground items like Bunny's Ears, Rise in the East & Russia Nuclear. I'll also have lots of rockets, mostly salutes like Reapers, Lightning Bolt & King of the Jungle. I've also got 20 Girandolas (Take Me To Your Leader, Wynda). Lots of cakes and canister & ball shells of course, a good number of them salutes. I'm amazed by the power of some of the stuff I'm finding for sale! I'm fortunate to have a few nearby stores that sell items that aren't found at most stores IYKWIM!

I'm sure alot of us have compassion for you not getting a weekend, but it would help if you included what exactly you'll be doing with those two bunks. That will help the video's relatability and engage interest. It will give us an idea of how difficult the work is and how long it might take

What type of fuse could I use to make sure that there are only 2 shells going up at a time?
Medium speed fuse. 10-12 seconds per foot

The welded plug was not welded properly . A weld is always stronger than the actual metal it's welded to . With aluminum you have to reverse the polarity on the welder, and use special aluminum wire or rods . And i'm guessing whoever welded that pipe did not do that .
